AP Blackout Dates

Do the AP blackout dates ever change? I was surprised to see that in Jan they’re from 1/1 to 1/3. The 3rd is a Mon so I’ma little surprised. This year the blackout dates were also 1/1 to 1/3 but that was Fri-Sun which makes more sense to me. I feel like I’ve heard of blackout days being lifted but maybe that was TM blackouts.

Last year they lifted the Seasonal Pass blocked out dates for Mardi Gras at the Studios. They usually have the concerts blocked out.

I’m looking into buying passes for the first time for our summer trip. Does Universal ever add more blackout dates, or are we safe to plan our vacation around the dates which currently listed as blackout dates for summer 2022?

They add black out dates for concerts. When they add the Mannheim Steamroller concerts in Nov/Dec, the Studios (but not IOA) become blacked out for some passes. I don’t know if they have any similar concerts in the summer. I’m sure someone else will know.

I think the concerts are all in Feb/March (Mardi Gras) or Nov/Dec (holiday concerts).
Any idea when they are going to release the Mardi Gras concert info? We have a trip in 90 days and trying to figure out if there might be a concert during our trip.

Universal unfortunately has a tendency to wait until the last minute to release concert info... if they have them, they are usually weekly on Sat nights plus the Sunday of holiday weekends. Then you get to wait even longer to learn who is playing during your weekend. It is not conducive to planning in advance for longer distance visitors.

I could use some help from those of you who are seasoned passholders. I'm a new passholder and have a seasonal pass. We were supposed to go mid_Jan, but decided to push it back due to covid surge. Looking at Feb 23-26, which is a Wed-Sat. When I looked on UO website, there are no blockout dates listed for Feb. When I look at the app, Sat, Feb 26 is blocked for Studios, but the 23-25 look good. All of my days look good for IOA. Do you think they will block more days that week? Thanks!

I suspect that they are planning on a Mardi Gras concert that Sat. Concerts are why they block out Studios but not Islands, and they tend to be just the Sat (and possibly Sun preceding a holiday Mon).
Thank you! We're planning on going to the parks Wed-Fri and flying home Sat, so hopefully we're good.

Does anyone know what a green square with a line through it means in the app for blackout dates? We have a trip planned for June and the website has no blackout dates listed. This thread prompted me to check the app, and I see on June 12, it’s green (which means good to go) but it also has a line (which means blockout). I’m confused! It’s that way for both parks.

I don’t see any lines for June in the app except Volcano Bay.

i ran into that on the app if I clicked on Volcano Bay and then went back to either of the other 2 parks. If you force the app to close (swipe up on iPhone ) and open it again you’ll see it as a normal green square.

Thank you! Do you think it’s just an app glitch?

If you don’t mind me asking, how last minute? A day? A week? A month?

My daughter is planning a weekend on February 4, which is now a month away.
