Anyone who has used Priceline

Can someone explain how Priceline works?

Do you pick like a 2, 3, 4 Star Hotel, make a bid, then you get to pick from a list of hotels or they pick your hotel for you? I'm lost...

I know that on biddingfortravel.com there is a list for each city of hotels, are these the only possible hotels that you will get? Also, what about location? Do you get to be specific about that or do you just get any hotel in the City's area?

You pick the area (as set by Priceline) and the "quality" or *'s and your bid. They will then look to see if they have any hotels that will accept your bid within the area and quality you pick. NOTE that if you pick a 2.5* and they have a 3* they WILL upgrade you. This could be a pleasent surprise or as in the case of Disneyland area hotels a big bummer, since the 3*'s charge up to $15 for parking/resort fee, while the 2.5*'s all have free parking and no resort fees.

When I bid I ALWAYS have back - up hotel. I will use that as a guide as to what I will bid. I always take $15 off the top of that to find my MAX bid.

Example:

I have a days inn booked for our upcoming trip at avg. per night $69

So I will take $15 off that price PLUS an additional $10 since now I will have to purchase breakfast (which we would have goten free at Days Inn). So my max bid will be $44. I have gotten a room for $27 before in this area.

WOW!

Okay...I'm going to study really hard that way I know how things work! Then maybe I can take a trip!

If only we could bid on Disney Resorts.....:p
