Not sure where my post went, but...

Is anyone watching tonight? I think DOug is ready to lose it with the couple he is working with. They are fighting him on everything. I knw he can do some strange stuff, but he has really mellowed since some of his stranger ideas.

He is acting a little childish, but I think I would have lost it. If you are not prepared to let the designers do their thing, you should not be on the show. IMHO.

I will need to catch the rerun...all I saw was the aftermath. He did appear...uh...miffed.

Yea..but we have seen this one before.
He is such a baby!!

I just don't like his attitude!
Although, every once in a great while he actually makes the room look better!

I prefer Frank and Vern!

and what about the graffiti Hilde is calling a tiffany box? Yuck! It is horrible, I would cry if it was my room. The before was really nice, conservative and the after looks like it was vandalized.

I love how Doug said "It isn't what the homeowner wants, it what the neighbors want, with the designer's guidance". Then the neighbor says "But we didn't get an opinion"

I think Banyan (the producers) are trying to over do the 'drama' - it's s home improvement show - I really don't need childish behavior from a grownup designer. And Doug said he did over 30 rooms - maybe he should look back and see what they look like.

Then there's Hilde, with her tribute to Tiffany and the NY Subways on the 1970's.

This was probably my lest favorite episode ever.

Dh and I laughed out loud at the "Tiffany" Room.
I cant believe they loved it like they said. We thought
it looked "vandalized" too! We were rooting for the
neighbors over Doug on the floor thing. We have wood
floors that we cherish and if anyone dared stain little
inlay on them-we'd ring their necks. I would NEVER agree
to be on that show. Things are done too cheaply. We
thought the "armoire" and "headboard" looked like
garage furniture. Hilde hit the nail on the head when
she remarked about the lack of "design". My dh has a
woodshop in our basement. Quality stuff takes so much
time-ugh to the things they knock out in a day!!! I've
never seen a room I thought looked more than interesting.

I started watching it, realized it was a rerun and turned off the tv. I watched one the other day (it's on at 4 here everyday, reruns, though) that Geniveve did...she glued MOSS to one of the walls. It was horrible!

DW and I watched the show. Surely all that bickering is mostly done for the camera to keep the show interesting. The graffiti walls had no appeal for us either.

I don't watch the show very often. I just can't believe what they do sometimes. I could never let them in my house and my house could probably use some help, but not them, no way. lol

Our family thought that the before looked way better than the after in the graffiti room. It was totally disgusting! Sometimes I just want to smack Doug and send him to his room! Although his room was the nicer of the two last night.

But.....did everyone see what's on next week?

The 3 episodes 'You love to hate'

I know for sure that two of them are the

Crying fireplace lady

The hay on the walls

Not sure what the third will be.

PS--I thought Doug's snit was real. I think he was really having himself a little hissy-fit.

I believe Doug's snit was real also.
He makes no bones about how he feels. He always says ... you wanted us here, now let us do our job.
He has said before that he was the designer and he was going to do what he wanted.

I just don't like him. I have liked a couple of his rooms. Hated the "smoke screen" one. The one where he put screen in certain areas. My DH and I thought...gee do you think the homeowners little girl will cut herself on that screen?
What an idiot!

If I walked into my bedroom and found that Tiffany room, I'd bawl!! That was hideous. And, it was painful to watch Doug and those HO's, they were all annoying as hell.

Sorry, but I love Doug. :teeth: I usually like Hildi too but that room last night was terrible. It was pretty before they put the white all over it.

I love Doug but he does need to "give" a little when it comes to the homeowners-neighbors opinions, since they know the homeowners opinions and wants and dislikes. With that room, I agree with Doug darker floors would have looked better.

Hilde, Hilde, Hilde. I thought for sure that the homeowners (esp. the snity lady) were going to flip out at that room. I know I would have.

I can't wait for next week.

I actually didn't think that 'grafitti bridge' wast too bad! However my taste tends to be more on the offbeat/modern side. I guess that's why they say 'no accounting for taste' LOL! At least they left their furniture alone, they can always paint over it.

I do think they do things cheaply (like painting over wall paper in 2 days), but enjoy the process and the before & after and homeowner opinions.

I wish they would spend a little more time with the 'shocked' homeowner than the typical "oh my god, oh my god..."... over and over. C'mon tell us what you really feel!

The episode with the moss walls was the topper however, that room stunk, and literally too! Moss is stinky! Also bad was the room that they made into a movie theatre.. yuk!

Let's not forget the hay room. That I think is the worst room, bar none. Can you imagine what it would take to get the walls back to sheetrock! With all that crappy compund all over the walls. It would be easier to gut the room and start over. And small children lived in that house.

I have to say that most of the time I don't like the stuff they do to the rooms. Vern and Frank are okay. I, too, decided last night that Doug went over the top, but then I got to thinking that "this is television". They have to make it look controversial to keep up the ratings. I'm beginning to think it's all show business. I can't imagine most people liking moss, grafitti, or aluminum foil on their walls or furniture.

Did anyone see "While Your Were Out" afterwards? The Midnight at the Oasis Theme kind of started out to be okay, but the husband coming home too early created a disaster.

I was SHOCKED at how the HOs acted towards Doug. I admit he's the "bad boy" and plays the role, but he is the designer and from the get go the woman didn't give him a chance! She was whining from the moment she entered the room.

The show is SUPPOSED to be fun. I saw none of that with Doug's couple. The couple that worked with Hildi didn't necessarily agree with her, but had a good time.

The designer and couple are supposed to work TOGETHER. I think if the woman had actually listened to Doug things would have been better, but she didn't want to. If she was a little nicer maybe the room would have turned out exactly as it was (untouched floor), but things would have been friendly.

You've got to trust the designers and go with it, otherwise why be on the show??? Change is the whole point -- good or bad.

I missed the first part of the show. I must have missed alot because the HO didn't seem unreasonable to me - I just saw them defending the floor and Doug pitching a hissy fit.

I have no problem with HO defending parts of the room where change will cause permanent damage. As it turned out I thought both rooms were UGLY, but no harm was done because they can change it all.
