Anyone watching the SATC reboot? Major spoiler inside...

Access Hollywood just reported that a fantasy flashback scene of Carrie & Big got cut out. It was of them being on the bridge in Paris where Big found Carrie at the end of the series finale. She was there to scatter his ashes and I guess she sees him in a fantasy alive again. Not sure if that's where that scene was supposed to go, though.
Apparently, it's going to be choppy all the way through the season since he was supposed to be in every episode. Between Stanford and Big the whole things feels so off.

Yeah, it seemed choppy to me too. I think they whole Chris Noth thing threw them for a loop. At first I thought they knew the story was going to come out so they killed him off, but it seems maybe they didn't know? It seems they filmed with him after the death. Now, I think they are glad they killed him off even though they have to cut some of the scenes. Otherwise I don't know what they would do, not show the series?

I think he said in an interview that there would be "a haunting" when asked if he was in the show after the first episode. When Carrie was sitting in the chair in her and Bigs apartment and randomly said something like, "well this isn't healthy". I thought that could be one of the haunting scenes, but they had to cut Big out.

I like Seema and hope she is in it more. Not sure about the storyline with Mirandas professor having infertility issues. For some reason it doesn't seem to fit in. We'll see where it goes.

I watched The Equalizer last weekend. It was their first episode back after the Chris Noth bomb dropped. He was instrumental in the episode. There was no way to cut his part out. I had wondered if they would do some fancy editing or have Queen Latifah just talking to him on the phone and we only see her part. But, we needed to see what his character was doing. Also, I think the production was on their holiday break, and Omicron has taken over the NYC, so I doubt they would re-shoot right now, even if they wanted to.

A little FYI: There is a reboot of the original Law & Order series coming back. It will star Anthony Anderson and Sam Waterston who was in it just before that series had been cancelled. Although Chris Noth was one of the original cast members, I think it's safe to say we won't be seeing him in it.

I just don’t like, he might be guilty. Or not. But people can come forward and say whatever and guilty or not, his life is over.

Yes, this is the part I never liked about these types of allegations. We've moved from a society who used to stand by "Innocent until proven guilty," to just making any and all allegations in the media, especially social media, and if it gets a lot of traction, then it must be true, even if/when it's not. There's an old quote attributed to Mark Twain, “A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth puts on its shoes.”

I get that the victims' identities in these situations are protected as it's such a shameful situation. But, I feel until it is proven that an alleged perp did it, their identities shouldn't be revealed either. Yet, in these situations, the perps relied on there being no witnesses and no way to prove what they did, so they could keep harassing or raping. That's how they got away with having multiple victims, in silence and isolation.

Yet, I also wonder if there's not a "pile on" happening to some of the alleged perps. Especially as the only "evidence" one needs nowadays is to just publicly say it happened and add themselves to a growing list.

This is such a hard situation to thread the needle through to do right by all. :(

Miranda is always unsure, confused, deflects, and complains. Miranda was always career first, then baby, and if she had time and it was convenient to her, maybe Steve. Steve was always kicked to last place on her to-do list. Heck she blamed Charlotte for ordering the Amazon book when she drunk ordered it herself.

Miranda was even doing a written pro/con list of Steve before even meeting Steve back on the bridge to continue their marriage. I never saw Miranda being in a committed relationship long term relationship like Charlotte or Carrie. With Samantha always not in it for long term relationships, Miranda to me has always been on the fence and in limbo. With Samantha she’s fully aware she loves herself more and always knows what she wants. Miranda’s way is beyond selfish and in denial of that constantly along with being always unsure what she truly wants.

Miranda’s reoccurring theme is she ultimately settles for everything. Like other poster pointed out the pandemic made some marriages strong and highlighted the ones already broken and fractured. Being that Steve is Steve, he’ll probably be relieved and Thank God because Miranda just doesn’t treat others right.
Hate that Miranda is sneaking around. She was extremely mad at Steve for doing the exact same thing. Not the sex or the affair. The lying and sneaking around he did. Which made sense for Charlotte to call her out on. Yet typical Miranda of do what I say, don’t do what I do. Don’t judge me. Where she’s free to judge everyone.

I agree with this assessment of Miranda. While Samantha was the most shallow character and grew the least on the show. She had her place as one of Carrie's friends. When Miranda was off being judgemental of Carrie & Big, there were certain times when Samantha would be the one Carrie would call and they'd go out for lunch. Samantha would say some snarky quip, but she wouldn't judge Carrie the way Miranda does. She made it clear she ultimately only wanted whatever will make Carrie happy.

When Big left Carrie at the altar, it was Samantha who stayed behind to take care of it all. And when the honeymoon couldn't be canceled and refunded, Samantha arranged all the girls to be able to go anyway.

Meanwhile, Miranda was the one who had made the stupid comment the night before their wedding that Big had to be crazy to get married, when it was really about what she was going through with Steve. Then we had to sit through 3/4 of the first movie while she selfishly kept that comment to herself when she KNEW it was cutting Carrie up inside, wondering what the cause was for Big panicking the way he did. Then Miranda cornered Carrie into sitting in the cab, while the meter was racking up, forcing Carrie to come around faster than she wanted, because Miranda needed it. Carrie wasn't allowed the 8+months that Miranda had hiding what she said to Big.

It's hypocritical that Miranda is the one sneaking around now and it's okay for her to do it, while she raked Steve over the coals for his cheating and had to make a list on whether to take him back or not.

But, that's Miranda, often selfish and judgemental when it suits her to be.

That whole part of the storyline was so infuriating. If I recall correctly she was going to tell Carrie that first night and Charlotte or Samantha wouldn't let her. Miranda has always been the most selfish and grating of the four in my opinion.

This is a small thing, but it totally took me out of the episode, but I did like the episode overall…

When they are eating (can’t remember if it was a lunch or a dinner), they briefly showed Charlotte cutting up her meal. For someone with as high a pedigree as she has, she holds her fork the wrong way. I can’t really describe it properly beyond saying she had too many fingers on it lol

I guess I noticed because I was brought up with proper table manners. so it’s always something I noticed.

I didn’t find the episode choppy at all, but I did find the scene with Carrie reading and saying I can’t do this (or whatever she said) to be a weird short scene.

If I recall correctly Charlotte and Samantha said now is not the right time. Miranda had 3/4 of the movie to pick another time. :badpc:

What I really enjoyed about this episode was Carrie and Anthony. I hope we continue to see the two of them together. I did not think her new apartment seemed like her at all, so I am glad she is selling it.

I like Carrie and Anthony too. They play off each other well.

I actually liked Carries new apartment. It was like a huge blank canvas. I was actually hoping she would "carrie-fy" it and really make it her own style. It was humorous when they showed her sitting alone in the huge white space eating dinner and the only thing that stood out was her bright yellow lamp. I was like, "you can do this, make it scream CARRIE". LOL!! I knew they would have her land back at her old place though.

I think everyone likes the scenes with Carrie and Anthony best because they feel the the most like the old series. The scenes with Big also felt familiar but.....

I finally had the opportunity to watch the most recent episode yesterday. I enjoyed the episode, but as somebody mentioned before it did seem to have a bit of an "after school special" feel at times. Now that I think about it, the whole AJLT reboot feels like an after school special for middle-aged women. I guess we need to be educated about some of the social issues in the world today. :rotfl2: I am really enjoying watching this series though, all eye rolling moments aside.

I really like Seema, I hope they keep her around long-term. She seems so cool and brings a lot of good energy to the show. I also like seeing Anthony and Carrie together. They play off each other very well and he is a hoot to watch. I am still not too happy about Stanford's exit. He was such a good friend to Carrie, it is so NOT "Stanny" to run off like that. He deserved a better "exit" from the show in my opinion.

As far as the whole Miranda stuff goes... (I try to avoid reading stuff about the actors to avoid spoilers) I wonder if her new "direction" has to do with David Eigenberg having moved on to a big role on Chicago Fire? That is just speculation on my part. Steve has always been a bit goofy, but sooo likable. I hate to see what Miranda is doing to him. I don't think Charlotte was entirely wrong to flip out on her.

OMG, that's it exactly. It is the adult version of an after-school special, designed to educate us ignorant middle aged white ladies about concepts like natural hair and gender identity! :rotfl2:

Well us middle aged ladies DID all grow up in the after school special era, so I guess they are using that to reach us!! LOL 😂 😝 🤣

I’m not opposed to changing pronouns or gender presentation. That said, I did identify with the last episodes use of they/them. I’ve considered both words to be plural for 40+ years, so anytime they are someone’s personal pronouns, my brain takes a minute to process and catch up because I instinctively assume the speaker is talking about multiple people. I wish there was a different option that was singular.

They as a singular has been used since the 1300s. They as a singular is taught for APA style. They as a singular has been quite common for a long time. They has been singular or plural just the context changes depending on the situation. I guess people don't remember this or have never in their lives encountered it but I assure you "they" has been used a very long time as a singular. All my life they has been used as a singular or a plural.

Knowing that Big dies, even before the Chris Noth stuff coming out, just made me tune out the show. But I've been perusing this thread though keeping up with what is going on. It sounds like for the most part I wouldn't want to watch it. I haven't seen the second movie but enough reviews of it warned me away from it.

Throughout the series I personally was always Big and Carrie fans. Growth-wise neither one did enough as they should have for ending up together but to me when two people who lacked the ability to truly give themselves to other people because of a tether to each other deserve to be together. It was never going to be roses though because of the growth issue. I didn't ever think Aidan was good for Carrie because he was written to be too easy going, too blah.

I agree with people about Steve always being the weaker one. I personally don't use the description that someone was weak like that but the way they wrote him he was not enough of a force to complement Miranda. I did like their relationship though despite that and that scene on the bridge from the first movie totally agree so very powerful but to hear they've seriously downgraded Steve sucks.

Someone pointed out that it was like these women couldn't be without men and you know what that really does seem true. Not that a show can't have that but it does sorta bely the words they are constantly saying. It reminded me of a point someone made about Gray's Anatomy and Station 19 that the women there would proclaim they don't want kids, they weren't mother material but Shonda would eventually write them as easily giving up that conviction and embracing kids just like that (no pun intended lol).
