Anyone watching the SATC reboot? Major spoiler inside...

What about reruns of The Equalizer? It's in it's second season. There are no episodes he wasn't in. His part was small, but intrinsic. They issued a statement today stating that going forward, he will no longer appear in new episodes. But, he still is in some new episodes not yet aired.
I don't think it will impact reruns IMO. Equalizer never seemed to say they would cut him out just he's no longer involved in production of the show. Most of the time shows if they have episodes made will just go ahead and release them rather than spending the extra time to cut someone out. OR they will pull the show entirely.

An episode from 10/10 is scheduled to be run this Sunday at 8pm. Chris Noth is in that rerun. I suppose we'll see if it's pulled.

I'm wondering if they will call attention to him leaving by giving his character some excuse to leave or if his character will just become one that is never mentioned again? Sometimes that happens in shows for non-controversial reasons too and the audience is left confused why some person up and leaves and is never mentioned again.

I’m not opposed to changing pronouns or gender presentation. That said, I did identify with the last episodes use of they/them. I’ve considered both words to be plural for 40+ years, so anytime they are someone’s personal pronouns, my brain takes a minute to process and catch up because I instinctively assume the speaker is talking about multiple people. I wish there was a different option that was singular.
They as a singular has been used since the 1300s. They as a singular is taught for APA style. They as a singular has been quite common for a long time. They has been singular or plural just the context changes depending on the situation. I guess people don't remember this or have never in their lives encountered it but I assure you "they" has been used a very long time as a singular. All my life they has been used as a singular or a plural.

Exactly right. They has always been a singular substitute.

I'm absolutely not opposed either. I just think AJLT is taking such a condescending approach to "teaching" their audience. It's off-putting. The writers could have taken some lessons from the writers over at This is Us who broached the subject of gender identity so well with Randall's daughter and her girlfriend.

I admit I'm slow at the pronoun thing. It's probably age related and the fact I have no close contacts that are trans.

Not seeing what you are seeing in the least. I haven't felt "taught to" in the slightest.

My goddaughter is trans and has been such a huge help to me. She patiently answers all my questions as I so much want to understand her perspective. I will say that she had a really challenging childhood, and it is amazing to see the confident, happy young adult she is today. I am so thankful that everyone in her life has continued to love and support her.

One of our family friends came home from college a different gender. It really has been beautiful to see them happy in a way they never were before. It's so different in real life as opposed to how these things are portrayed on tv. Hollywood rarely gets it right.

I do. It doesn't feel authentic in many of the episodes - it feels like we're all on a journey of learning regarding a variety of issues.

I just feel like I’m catching up with old friends.

Good thing is if you’re not enjoying it you can just stop watching it.

What’s wrong with learning? When we know better, we do better.

Not specifically you, but if people are feeling preached to, or like it’s being shoved down your throat, then maybe you are the ones being gently targeted…

Trying to figure out how one 5 second scene correcting a pronoun is lecturing us. It’s probably a very common scenario in this age group.

I was speaking more to the whole show not just the pronoun thing. I was just making a dumb joke with the after school special picture.

I think they have spent a lot of time righting perceived wrongs with this reboot since they have caught quite a bit of flack with the old series not aging well and not fitting in with new societal norms. That's what I was speaking to earlier, just a lot of road to cover and a lot of it not landing well.

I am not hating the series, it is like with any reboot I am giving it time. (But then again I watched the 90210 reboot and wasn't angry so there's that.)

The only thing I cannot figure out is why are we on the journey of the professor? She's not a main character and her story doesn't just flow naturally, it feels forced and not in a good way.

And I concur with whomever said Miranda is the most selfish character. Who does that in your best friends kitchen? I don't even think that is something Samantha would do if she was on duty to watch Carrie. And if I hear "Rambo" one more time. UGH!! 🤮

100% agree with this, especially the bolded. It was just so weird. Just because she's finding herself, she has to turn into a classless person?

This was my question too. At first I thought they were going to have Miranda have an affair with her instead of Che. I don't get it, she isn't really friends with the girls and her storyline just feels out in left field to me. Like it's a separate show. She is someone Miranda interacts with, but is more like a side character. When her and her hubby and their friends were at dinner I was like, "what show am I watching?" I don't know if they are just trying o show that Miranda is accepting and open to learning, remember in the beginning she was bumbling around the professor and insulting her. Now they are closer and becoming friends. Maybe they are trying to show Miranda growing and evolving? I don't know where they are going with that.

I read that they were trying to be more inclusive with the core characters since there was not much diversity in the original series. So they are introducing more people of color like the professor and Seema. SJP said that they were addressing it in the reboot.

I have no issue with showing diverse characters. I enjoy Seema and LWT. Their characters blend effortlessly into the series. The professors doesn't. It's odd. Are they trying to make her the new 4th? The amount of screen time she had on the last episode with the dinner out with fertile Myrtle and the bedroom scene just was weird. It is like the writers are trying too hard.

Personally, that is the one aspect of the show I can do without. Add more Seema and LWT. Heck, I can't believe I am saying this but Che at least is adding to something. The professors scenes just fall flat, imho.

If the professor's character (or any of the other new characters) become popular and they introduce family and circle of friends they could have spin off material. They could be thinking of future shows.

I find Miranda so annoying that I've been fast-forwarding through her scenes.
