Anyone watching the SATC reboot? Major spoiler inside...

I guess I am just disappointed with Miranda and Steve (and Brady LOL). I liked their love story and that scene on the bridge where they had to decide to stay together and move forward, or part ways for good was so intense. When they both showed up it was so moving. I guess I had been rooting for them to make it. To see what they turned into was a little disappointing to me. I understand they had to make them be in a bad place so Miranda would be drawn to Che. We'll see how it plays out.

That's my biggest problem with the storyline to push Miranda and Che together. The cheating was such a big deal to Miranda in the first movie and now it's almost as if it doesn't matter. In the series it was always Steve, no one else could compare. I understand the need for drama but still

I read that the newest episode was cut short by several minutes compared to the other episodes.
People speculating that there were some flashback scenes with Big and Carrie that may have been cut out.
I believe they went to France to film some flashbacks of the two of them and now looks like they will not air any of it.

It's funny you mention this, I started watching and looked at the time stamp and thought it was shorter than the other episodes. I had read that Big was going to be in flashbacks (prior to the news about him). I would not be at all surprised if he is scrubbed from the rest of the season.

Yes, that scene on the bridge is one of the iconic moments of SATC. That's why this is really putting me off. It's like the new writers have no regard for the fans who have rooted for these characters for 20 plus years.

Miranda WT*! That by far was very . The empathy in me felt so bad for Carrie. As far as Miranda goes, I remembered when Carrie walked in on Samantha giving and then Samantha later walked in on Stanford receiving. So the Miranda setup makes sense and wasn’t all that shocking when I reflected. Just felt so bad for Carrie still. Maybe it was needed for Miranda. That spark to change and pursue what she truly wants out of her life. Being that it was Carrie’s boss, maybe Carrie will get the push to branch off and have her own podcast and/or back to writing a column again.

What they don't realize is the SATC audience is already cool with new societal norms. It's not shocking, it's just them breaking up a couple that the fans really liked.

I’m another one who liked this episode. And I also hope for a second season.

I don’t like what they’re doing to Miranda & Steve, but I also don’t think it’s a far fetched as people want to believe. I think a lot of people lost & found themselves in the pandemic. Some marriages got stronger with more time together and some cracked with it.

Miranda is always unsure, confused, deflects, and complains. Miranda was always career first, then baby, and if she had time and it was convenient to her, maybe Steve. Steve was always kicked to last place on her to-do list. Heck she blamed Charlotte for ordering the Amazon book when she drunk ordered it herself.

Miranda was even doing a written pro/con list of Steve before even meeting Steve back on the bridge to continue their marriage. I never saw Miranda being in a committed relationship long term relationship like Charlotte or Carrie. With Samantha always not in it for long term relationships, Miranda to me has always been on the fence and in limbo. With Samantha she’s fully aware she loves herself more and always knows what she wants. Miranda’s way is beyond selfish and in denial of that constantly along with being always unsure what she truly wants.

Miranda’s reoccurring theme is she ultimately settles for everything. Like other poster pointed out the pandemic made some marriages strong and highlighted the ones already broken and fractured. Being that Steve is Steve, he’ll probably be relieved and Thank God because Miranda just doesn’t treat others right.

You could be right. Miranda did always make a mess of relationships and I guess we could assume now that it was because she always struggled with her identity. I just always liked how Steve softened her. She needed that.

Overall, I like the reboot. I’m still mad at Steve for cheating on Miranda back in the day, so I say he gets what he gets (yes, I’m petty). I really like Che (Ramirez). I keep wanting them to sing. Ramirez has such a beautiful voice!

Charlotte is staying true to character for me. So is Carrie…I both like her but am annoyed by her at the same time. Haha! I gasped when I saw she had kept her old apartment.

Samantha was always my least favorite character, so I don’t really miss her. Back then, we all were like ”oh, I’m such a Carrie” or whoever. I was never a Samantha. I just didn’t identify with her. I identified with each of the other three at different times though.

Due to Christmas I had fallen behind on my AJLT watching, but I caught up today. I watched them back to back so they might kind of run together on me.

My observations/opinions would be first of all, I do NOT like the way they had Stanford leave the show. I believe that Stanford deserved a better "exit". He was such a good friend and in my opinion important character, to have him just run off like that... not cool. I am not a big fan of killing off characters, but to me, that would have been more appropriate for him (It didn't have to be cancer, but they could have used Covid or something as an excuse). I don't know the best way to write him off the show, but I do not like the way they did it.

I read the following on why they didn't kill Stanford. Not quite sure what he means though.

He explained that the writers chose not to kill off Stanford because it would have been inauthentic to the viewers. “Because it wasn’t charming,” he said. “And I knew that the audience would know.”

Inauthentic, when everyone knows that Willie Garson died in real life? So, instead we get the sham of Stanford "moving" to Japan and "divorcing" Anthony? I know the writers probably did not anticipate Willie's death when they started writing the season, but it did happen early on. I like seeing Anthony and Carrie together and this could have given them a way to bond.

Liked that they are tackling aging. No one really talks about it in general with society’s marketing and push to chase the fountain of youth.

When I saw Carrie’s new apartment it wasn’t even Carrie. It was so cold and sterile. Where Carrie has that vintage transitional vibe.

When Carrie was reading in the chair and she said she can’t do this, Was that a Big flashback scene? It seemed incomplete. Not sure if it was just me noticing that.

Hate that Miranda is sneaking around. She was extremely mad at Steve for doing the exact same thing. Not the sex or the affair. The lying and sneaking around he did. Which made sense for Charlotte to call her out on. Yet typical Miranda of do what I say, don’t do what I do. Don’t judge me. Where she’s free to judge everyone.

This episode was directed by Cynthia Nixon. Looks like a reflection of her personal life like others have said it to be. Just wish the bandaid can be ripped off fast and sooner so we can move on.

Feel like Miranda’s and Rose’s story line is being unnecessarily dragged out especially in this day and age. Heck, Lily summed it up way faster in seconds compared to anyone else like it’s not that big of a deal and it isn’t.

Love that Anthony and his lines. He seems to be the guy version of Samantha and is filling those shoes quite well.

I'm still watching for some reason, though I'm not entirely sure why. LOL

I'm not as irritated as many seem to be with Miranda's storyline. She was never great at relationships and never seemed to be all that clear on what she wanted, and the thread of tension between social norms/expectations and her own wants is a long one in her relationship with Steve, going all the back to when he didn't fit into her image of her life when he was "just a bartender". Plus she has that really practical, get-on-with-it personality that is totally the type to neglect the romantic side of her marriage while putting her energy into career and parenting and friends.

I hated Stanford's exit. That wasn't at all right for his character.

But the whole Rose/Rock thing is irritating as all get-out. It still feels to me like young writers who look at 50-something women and think "Okay Boomer" are coming up with these interactions. My 20yo was in the room while I was watching the episode where they go to talk to her school and said Charlotte sounded like Nana (my 70-something MIL) when they talked about a longtime friend of DD's who started publicly identifying as male a few years ago.

Access Hollywood just reported that a fantasy flashback scene of Carrie & Big got cut out. It was of them being on the bridge in Paris where Big found Carrie at the end of the series finale. She was there to scatter his ashes and I guess she sees him in a fantasy alive again. Not sure if that's where that scene was supposed to go, though.

Yes, he was cut out. He was supposed to be haunting her in at least 6 or 7 episodes. So now all the episodes are going to feel choppy and off.
