Hi all! I haven't been to this board in awhile and was just curious if there has been any discussions about SONG's service. We booked last spring for our Jan. trip, and I'm hoping that folks have had positive experiences over the summer.

Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

We flew Song out of Boston on 8/15. We found the kiosk check-in to work quite well. Some people seemed to be a little confused about how it was done but there were people there to lend a hand. Our flight boarded relatively quickly. We were in row 24. Took off about 5 minutes early!! The 'talent' was a little perky for my tastes. But they were fun. Dh bought a turkey sandwich which he said was good. I had a chicken and salad combo thingie that I liked a lot! The plane was clean and pleasant.
The flight back from Orlando went well. We do get to the airport 2 hrs early, so this may have some bearing on our experiences! People seemed to be a little uneasy over their seat assignments. But I didn't see any problems once boarding started. We were in row 4 this time. We would have left 15 minutes early but one family arrived very late. And then had some issues getting seated. Their fault not Song's. But the flight home was good also. The leg-room is much better than Delta's standard flights. My 6'4" dh didn't complain at all!!! We grabbed a bite to eat at the airport so didn't eat on the plane.
We would definatly fly Song again, if the price is good. I have nothing negative to say! Well....maybe they could get the bags all out a little quicker. But that's it.

We flew out of Bos on 8/16, and back on 8/23. Both flights were very overbooked (first flight down and last flight back on a Saturday). Seat assignments were all over the place, the attendants had to basically re-assign almost everyone at the gate. They managed to depart on time, though.
they sold food on board, but ran out about 2/3rds down the plane; when they started mentioning they were running short, people began buying 4-5 sandwiches and bringing them back to their friends and family in the back rows; a lot of people didn't get a chance to get anything at all. Don't count on being able to buy anything on board except a drink. Same thing happened on the way back, too.

Hi John. I was wondering how your flights went. Glad I changed to the Friday flight. It was full but there didn't seem to be any huge problems with seat assignments. Maybe we just got lucky. We were waaaaay back in the plane and we got what we wanted to eat. Maybe lady luck again. Hope you enjoyed your IllumiNations Cruise. I thought of you while on ours. Very smokey that night.

Thanks! I was hoping you'd say more leg room! We are flying out and home on a Wednesday (midday) so I don't think we will be on an overbooked plane - but who knows! Just wanted to make sure there were no horror stories out there!

We are flying on a Tues morning and back on Monday afternoon. Just wondering if its worth it to eat on the plane instead of rushing to the deli in the AM.

I see they have free beverage service, but I was wondering if you get a free snack as well (can't see paying 2. for a cookie or a snickers bar. If they don't, I'll be sure to bring my own.

frannn,

No snacks for free on Song. Only beverages available for free are coca-cola products, coffee, or tea. I think it's a good idea to bring your own snacks.

I was sure glad to see this post. I just redeemed 50,000 Delta Sky Miles for two free tickets for our trip in May. The only nonstop flights were on Song Airlines, which I'd never heard of, but since we don't like to fly and this was our only option, we took it. Glad to read that you had good experiences.

Not a good experience. Going down was the most chaotic flight I have ever been on. Going back was calmer but the flight was still lacking and their pay-as-you go food service was seriously lacking. I would not fly Song again unless the price difference was significant.

what exactly was the chaotic part? are seats not assigned?? details, please

I was planning on printing out our boarding passes the day before we leave, to make boarding smoother. Will we have a problem? We only do carry-ons and don't check any luggage (thank goodness for all the washers and dryers at WDW!), and I liked the idea of being all set to board without any lines - besides the security check. Am I fooling myself?

We aren't great flyers, either. Once on the plane, I'm good - but all the boarding rules and regs. get me hyper! So - eating on the plane is something we don't do. I'll pack a few small snacks. Looking forward to our first meal at Disney is one of the little mind tricks I use to stay calm on the flight!

Harambe....we didn't encounter any chaos. Well, maybe from some other passengers who were waaaay too nudgy about things. But, we did check our bags and found the kiosks extremely easy to use and fast!!!! Next time we'll have only carry-on, so will print boarding passes at home. I have to say that I don't know what other experiences others have had with other airlines but I found Song to be quite 'together'. I no longer look for the little 'perks' of flying....blankets, pillows, free snacks. I want an on-time, clean flight with a minimum check-in wait. I pack most of my own snacks. I did buy their food on the flight down and found it to be good. And yes, I paid $2 for that Snickers bar but I really needed some chocolate at one point. I would fly Song again. Even my dh, who has flown mostly in private corporate jets, says he found Song to be quite acceptable.

Thanks a million - goofy4tink! Now, I won't think about it until after Christmas! And hey - when you want one, a Snickers bar is NEVER too expensive!

FYI...

Song has updated their menu, and as of 9/15, you can pre-order food for your flight on flysong.com.
