We are thinking of an add-on (and yes, we know resale is cheaper) while we are on our cruise in December.

I spoke to my guide about it and she insists that the offers on the cruise are THE SAME as what she can offer. That there is NO onboard credit or price difference.

Can anyone confirm? Every thread I have read talks about discounts as well as OBC when you add on while crusing.

Please let me know!

According to DVD management, I was told the cruise incentives are better because they need additional sales from the cruise to justify selling from there. Same with the remote sales locations.

Most of the on-board credits/discounts were tied to buy a certain number of points (all 100+). So if you are looking at a small add-on what your guide is telling you is probably accurate.

Good point, some have reported that the DCL Guides wouldn't take there order because their add on was too small. They were referred to their regular Guide.

It will be 100+ points. Hence why I think she is actually not accurate. (And why I am asking for FIRST HAND accounts...)

Thanks!

It depends. I've been on cruises where there were extra benefits for add-on and others where the pricing was identical to...on shore ;) . It can also vary depending upon the resort you buy and how many points. I've seen the threshold be much higher than 100 points. One cruise you only got an extra bonus for 250+.

So was your Guide being honest? Depends on the specifics. If she claims on-board pricing is always identical then she's wrong.

However if you told her you wanted to add 100 at AKV (or BLT, SSR, BCV, BWV, etc.) and she claimed the non-cruise pricing is identical, she may well be correct. Could be that they are only offering shipboard credits for Aulani add-ons much higher than 100 pts.

And all of that could change further come December, not to mention the possibility of additional price increases over that period.

She did say "always" which I know is incorrect. Again, that's why I am asking for FIRST-HAND, RECENT information. I am aware of all of the above. I just would like to see someone who HAS DONE IT come in and say what they have gotten. LOL Seems I may be looking for a needle in a haystack! :lmao:

I don't know how recent you're looking for. We were on a cruise in February and OBC were only for high point purchases at Aulani. That was 4+ months ago. Hard telling how things will change in the next 5+.

We were on the Fantasy in June. The prices were the same as the regular "land" offers with the extra 20 points that everyone was offered. They worded it differently to make it seem different but when you did the math that was what it came down to. They did offer like a $200 onboard credit and maybe some fast passes but it hardly made it worth the price per point. We were really hoping for some fantastic cruise deal but it did not happen.

We are going on the fantasy at the end of July and were looking at adding a few points on at vgc which I know has a wait list so they might not be adding any perks on board, but I'll report back what they are offering. By December they might be selling grand Floridian.

We cruised in June. The DVC incentives on the boat were the same for Aulani and AKV, with an additional on board credit depending on how many points you bought. They were not interested in selling any other resorts (for any amount of points) and referred you to your guide. I would think if you were buying a small amount of points they might not deal with you either and refer you to your guide. It seemed like 100 points was the minimum.

Thanks, would love to hear what they might offer!

Thanks! We will be looking at a 100 point add-on so will be right at the minimum it seems.

I cruised on the Fantasy 6/29 - 7/7. I added 50 pts at Saratoga. The only incentive was 18 VIP fast passes AND they said that the prices had gone up $5 per point on July 1 but they were honoring the lower price. There were additional incentives for buying at Alauni and AKL.

I bought in on the june 2 NYC cruise and this is exactly what was offered .

AKV was $130 PP
Aulani was Maybe $140 I don't remember but I wasn't going to buy aluani anyway.

Every 100 point got + 20 free points

Ship board credit started at
160 points to get a $300
240 points was $500
360 Points was $700
480 points was $700

18 VIP fast passes

These last ones I think you get no matter what . The backdated UY points and pro rated dues .

I think the give you the SBC cause it probably not much or any out of pocket to them . Also they stopped offering the 20 free points I know that .

Personaly I didn't get much of the incentives I only bought 100 points at SSR cause that is what I could afford . I probably should have done the 120 for AKV but the higher MF scared me away .

Anyway I got the 18 past passes . and SSR at $110 pp the price was 99pp in dec 2010 when I first looked into joining . So I wanted to buy in before the price got even higher .

We bought on the June 15th cruise and they said that was the last cruise they were offering the above mentioned deal. They werw not offering SSR on that cruise. But the pp quoted above were correct and BLT was selling for $165/pp

They weren't offering SSR but when I asked, it was no problem for me to buy there . I am kind of wishing I took akv to take advantage of the value rooms .

Just off the magic. Added on 150 Aulani, got 500 dollar obc, 18 fast passes, 10 extra points yearly, 160 pts added to our uy(which I banked),pro-rated dues. we paid 135/pt
