Has anyone used netgrocer.com for preordering/delivery of groceries to their DVC unit? Positive experiences?? Disasters?? Were the prices fair? How far in advance did you place your order?

We used a towncar from the airport and stopped at Albertson's (I think) to grab our groceries and go. It worked out fine; however, with three young children, I'd rather have this all taken care in advance. We're planning on having breakfast in the room each morning and a couple lunches or dinners.

Our mandatory list: My DH would collapse without his Coke and I'd be struggling without my Diet Coke. LOL.

Thanks all.

Some years ago I read about someones experience with using netgrocer for delivery to their OKW resort.

Disney ended up charging a fee, based on weight, for the delivery of the package.
They had ordered water, so the fee was quite high.
I believe they had the order delivered the day they were to arrive.

Does anyone know if Disney still charges a fee for having a package delivered?

I have used netgrocer for home delivery and have always had good results.

I used them several years ago at CBR pre DVC. It was great, only they don't handle perishables, but I had diapers wipes, breakfast stuff, snacks, and juice boxes. I grabbed some milk from the hotel store and it worked fine. I set it up to be delivered the day before we arrived. I included CBR's address, our names and arrival date on the outside of the box. When we checked in the front desk worker informed me that they had a package for me. They did not charge any kind of fee. We put it in our car and drove it to our room. I have read of a few people being charged handling fees. Frankly, I would pitch a fit! I know that I have also read about grocery delivery from some of the local supermarkets, and I think Albertson's will gather everything you want and you just swing by and pick it up. Good Luck!

I have used them twice. Neither time have I been charged a fee by the hotel. The first time I used them in Dec. of 2000, the box arrived on time, and everything was fine. This last trip, Dec. of 2003, the box was schedule to arrive the Friday that we did. It did not arrive until the following Wednesday, late in the afternoon. After 6 weeks of e-mails and phone call attempts they finally responded and refunded my shipping charges. We ended up leaving half of what we had ordered as we ran out of time to use it all. I might try them again, but I might make sure to schedule the delivery a week in advance this time. They deliver on a schedule so if you go to their site it will tell you when you need to place your order by (assuming they are delivering on time).

We used them before one of our trips, when we had a 10-day stay. Our packages were delivered on time, and everything was in order. Prices were reasonable, and the resort didn't tack on any fees. The only problem with the order was that a couple of tubes of Pringles were smashed up. That didn't stop anyone from eating them, though.

But there's a couple of reason why we haven't used them since. The first is that they don't deliver perishables, and we still had to make a grocery stop. So it didn't seem like it saved us that much time. In fact, given the amount of time we spent at home on their site, our total shopping time probably increased. To be fair, though, vacation time is more valuable than at home time.

The other problem was that we weren't disciplined enough. We bought way more than we could use. Looking at it online, it didn't seem so bad. But if our order was in a shopping cart, we would have said "holy cow, are we crazy?" So beware of that.

Another option is to use the town car to stop and pick up your "pre shopped for" groceries. Fax your order into
Kate @ Albertson's, Orlando
Orange Blossom Trail
Telephone: (407) 857-5666
Fax: (407) 857-0132

It's all pulled and ready for pickup. Leave DD and the kids in the car. Your in and out in a few minutes. This gives you a better selection of products and price (IMHO) as well as options of dairy, produce, frozen and alchol.

Just a thought
