Hi :wave2:

I was reading someplace about the Pal Mickey. ::MickeyMo I was wondering if anyone has bought it. If so, how much was it and was it worth it?
Thanks for your help!
Tasha

Planning to get it for future trip - hoping to have it in the room when we arrive.

I'v seen this question posted many times. Most people thought it was a waste of time. It became too much to carry around,MANY people could hardly hear Mickey, and MOST of what he tells you, the info.you already know(IF you've done your homework ahead of time) We had really thought about getting him, but after reading so many negative posts,we decided that was one LESS thing to tote around. Good luck on whatever you decide. :sunny:

Does Pal Mickey tell you useful information, like average line waits, best side (right or left) of a line, etc? Anyone know?

My son wanted one, so I bought it. It came with the lanyard. While in the park, Mickey tells us where the wait is short. It tells us where we are. It tells us what time the parade is. It tells lots of joke and you can play games with Mickey. It cost me, let me think... I think it was $60 or $70. Don't remember it anymore.

Since we're at home now and not in the parks. Mickey only plays games and tell lots of jokes. I think it has the nose sensor and you have to point the nose out while in the parks so it can sense what is going on.

Even though I'm a Disney Vet (well.. at least that's what I want to think), this is nice for the kids. My kids don't know the things that I know, so learning from the Mouse himself, it is fun for them.

There is now a new Pal Mickey dressed in Tuxedo for the 50th Celebration I hear. I want to buy that too since my daughter wants one too. So each of my kids can have their own.

We bought one in April. The first day he said nothing! Well, DH did not turn him on right.

Once we washed the big L off our foreheads, we loved him!
We can not wait to bring him back down in Feb. :cool1:

We bought one in May. He was $70. The kids liked him. He tells corny jokes, but he also tells you Disney trivia. He would also alert you to parades about 1/2 an hour before their start and he'd tell you where certain characters were in the parks. You have to turn him on and have him facing forward as you walk through the turnstiles at each park. His nose "downloads" information at that time. He seemed aware of each attraction we'd take him on. For example, after we had ridden Test Track, he'd say,"Gee, that was really fast! Are my ears still on?"

He's dressed in a tux for the 50th celebration. He comes with a yellow lanyard and also a clip (we sometimes clipped him on to our fanny packs.) He can't get wet and he reminds you of that fact if you are going on a wet ride (Splash, Kali, etc.)

Bought my Pal Mickey the first year he came out. He has been back with me every visit, in the parks with me daily. I love him! Can't wait to get the 50th Celebration one in a tuxedo. One for day time at the parks, one for formal evening dining out :rotfl:

He tells corny jokes, and I laugh in spite of myself. I clip him to my back pack strap so he rides up near my shoulder. Always been able to hear him well. When we come home and the grandkids visit, they always ask to play with Mickey so they can hear his jokes!

I know somepeople don't like Pal Mickey, but I love him!

I just ordered one of the original Pal Mickeys (apparently there are new, improved ones for the 50th celebration) from Disney's Character Premiere. It cost $38.94 with tax and shipping. It arrived in a week, and my two boys love it. We bought it for our upcoming trip and are thrilled at the savings, as in the park they cost $60-$70.

The phone number for Disney's Character Premiere is 954-846-7161.

I have one that I bought from someone else on the DIS- I am willing to pass it on.

PM me if you want him. He still works great but is definitely not worth the $70 in the store.

We purchased Pal Mickey last year....and he is coming back with us this year.
He worked REALLY well in AK & EPCOT....lots of interesting facts and "secret" paths too take...etc. REALLY GOOD! :earsboy:
In MK & MGM he just mostly told corny jokes!

As far as wait times on rides....be careful since maybe 1,000 other pal mickeys are in the park. One night at MK, Pal Mickey told us that there was only a 5 minute wait for BUZZ LIGHTYEAR ride. Myself & my nephew were heading into Liberty Square at the time. Since this is my nephews favorite ride we NEEDED to go on it...So we headed back to BL (maybe a 5 minute walk) ...and it was the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONGEST line I ever seen for this attraction. It stretched out the bldg, and was heading down towards the bridge to the Main Street HUB. There were 100's of people all standing there with Pal Mickey.

My son, who's 18 years old !, wants to get one...
And he's every bit as disneyholic as I am....actually more (he lives on the Jim Hill site)....so he certainly knows tons of disney trivia already...

Do you think we'll look stupid carrying it around without any little kids in our group (we're my husband and me, plus our 20 year old daughter)...

I was planning on not buying it (he's easy to talk out of things, but i know he'd like it)...

what do you think?

I bought my Pal Mickey from the Wilderness Lodge gift shop on my first morning in WDW last week (the 12th) just before heading to MGM, and I absolutely loved him (this coming from a 22 year old, LOL)! :flower: I loved him a lot more than I thought I would, actually. Best $70 I've spent in a long, long while. He worked great at MGM right from the get go, and I was happy. Problem was there was a downpour on the way to LMAX and I nearly had a heart attack that my new Pal would be fried before I got in the stadium! :earseek: But I sacrificed my dryness for his well being and wrapped him in my jacket, LOL. Best advice if you do get one is: 1. bring a small plastic bag to put him in to protect him from rainstorms and 2. try not to wear him (if using the lanyard) directly around your neck for long. I did that for 3 days in a row, and by that time my neck felt like it was gonna break, yowch. :guilty:

Is he worth it? imo, definitely. He's $65, and with tax he was $69 and change. He worked perfectly except: his batteries died on the 3rd day right before I went on Soarin; on the 5th day he literally wouldn't stop shaking about the parade in AK starting until I listened to what he had to say (this was during Tarzan Rocks); and the weirdest (and yet entertaining nonetheless) thing was right before I got on Star Tours on my last day there, he started saying "Here in Germany..." :rotfl2: He'd been working a-okay before then, and as soon as I got off Star Tours, he proceeded to make a joke about the ride and didn't make another error. That was just really strange, LOL.

Oh, and def. take Pal Mickey on Pirates in MK. What he said afterwards was one of my favorite lines of his. Mickey apparently does not like being called a rat. :rotfl:

GO FOR IT! You will like it!
While on Disney property, we are all 5 years old !!!!!

In fact while you are there, get each one of you a balloon too!

ok...you've convinced me....if he still wants it, we'll get it first thing...
I bet i'll end up being the one who likes it most.. :)

My son is 17 and is getting one. He is also a disney fanatic. We are staying at the Swan. Can you get one of the new ones in their gift shop or the Dolphin gift shop? We will be there one week. Do the batteries last that long. If not, what kind of batteries does it take. Thanks

Has anyone used their Pal Mickey at Christmas Time? Does he get updated specifically with the holiday information (Christmas shows, parades, etc) and does he have anything to say during MVMCP?! I really want to get one on this trip, but if he isn't really configured for the holidays it won't be worth it just yet.

I'm sure this is a silly question..... I'm almost 100% sure Disney has him set (especially the new version) to be perfect all the time, but I just want to hear from someone who has ACTUALLY carried it around (or seen him in action) during this time of year.

Thanks so much!

Pal Mickey is great, got him last week 2 minutes after entering the park. Great hint, go to the Pal Mickey site and play the Pal Mickey game. You then get a certificate for a free Pal Mickey Pin, and your Pal Mickey with be scanned to say in more fun facts, stories and jokes then the other Mickeys without this certificate.

The best part was when we were plummeting down the Tower of Terror Mickey broke into song of the Mickey Mouse Club March M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E. :rotfl: :rotfl: Me screaming and him singing!!!!!
