Anyone use Alamo Quicksilver?

hi
i have a reservation with alamo next month and signed up with the quicksilver to hopefully not have to stand in line long. i know they don't have a kiosk at mco but do they have a dedicated line for quicksilver? has anyone used it and what is your experience? i loved using the quick rent with national but their rates were nowhere near as comparable to alamo. thanks

I would also be interested in any feedback on Quicksilver. I've always used National's Emerald Aisle, and do have an upcoming reservation with them for 3/2 - 3/5 for an Int. at $ 137.00 using AARP rate. However, in checking the Alamo rate for the same date and using a Disney Visa rate code, I can get an Intermediate for $90!! That's a HUGE difference! So any advice on Alamo would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if you can sign up for Alamo Quicksilver without a corporate ID number? The Alamo online registration form seems to requir the corporate ID number in order to register.

They changed it, it used to be for any business without a corporate ID. Sorry folks.

I e-mailed Alamo and asked whether it is possible to enroll in quicksilver without corporate ID number and received the following response:


"Please use 456456 on your MRA. This will allow the enrollment."

MRA means Master Rental Agreement. I will let you know if it works.

I used 456456 for the corporate id number as suggested by Alamo and was able to register for quicksilver.

Does Alamo have any program to bypass the counter? Or is there only Quicksilver?

And if you use Quicksilver, you cannot use any coupons, right?

Or am I getting confused with some other compnay/program?

alamo's only bypass the counter is QS and in locations without a kiosk, you have to go to the counter. They have a program called "alamo.com", saves time at the counter, but, you still have to be there.
I have always used coupons for my rentals with Alamo and just hand them to the person that checks the car/you out before you leave the lot. This was using the kiosk, btw.

National's quick rent program does not allow you to use coupons.

so many programs, so many rules.

It worked for me, now I have to QS memberships. goody.

Where are you putting that number? It goes in the box under the one that has the F outside the box.

For some reason if I put back my Quicksilver ID in my profile, then I cannot get any coupons to work.

I go back and take Quicksilver out of my profile and then it works!

Not sure why.

Very odd, I sign in using my QS profile and all coupons and codes work.
I also belong to alamo.com which is supposed to enhance your membership with QS.

I just did a mock reservation using rate code BY, id: 489304 coupon: fb86 (all this from BJ's) and it worked just fine for me.

I know, it's very odd. I had this same problem a few months ago and finally learned that it was happening because of Quicksilver so I went into my profile and took the ID number out and then I had no problems using coupons.

Maybe it has something to do with when you sign up for Quicksilver?? Or maybe I joined incorrectly or I'm just plain doing something wrong during reservation. I don't know.

I thought I'd try again and see if I could get it to work since Alamo sometimes has better prices than National now that we don't have DC anymore.

When I try, I get as far as choosing which car and then I get errors. I take the coupon out and then I get through to the quote page. I used the same codes as you, BJs and even the same coupon!!

Oh well, it's not that big a deal going to the Quicksilver counter than to the regular counter...now if it meant I could completely bypass the counter, then I'd be really bummed I couldn't get it to work!

I do it all the time. I use national proabbly 12-15 times ayear with a coupin at least 2 or 3 times a year. I make the reservation on their website with my coupon code along with my corporate id and also any rate code i can find. WHen i get the to toll both check out, i just hand them my coupon, my credit card and my DL. Never had a problem.

Is this something knew for this year- I rented in atlanta and chicago in December and had no issues? I have a reservation from their website with a coupon code for Orlando in 2 weeks. I would hope they would have mailed me a notice if things changed.

Yes, you can use the coupons with EC, you cannot use coupons with their NEW quick rent program, which anyone can use.

They don't mail notices, generally, for change in policies or new features, they figure the onus for finding this stuff out is on the customer. Just and FYI, the Quick Rent feature is on the opening page of their website.

I have EC also, but, it is on the opening page and I tend to read EVERYTHING, curious by nature.
