Anyone use a Pacsafe Carrysafe 100 Camera Strap?

I picked one up today for my upcoming trips to Europe. Does anyone use one? Can you comment on the comfort level? I will be putting this on my XT. I will be carrying a daypack, and will secure the compartment with a lock to avoid pickpocketers.

never used one and don't see its benefit over a normal camera strap. We are from the U.K and travelled all over Europe, USA and Canada and have never required a slashproof camera strap.

It was my decision to buy one to protect my gear, and I was really looking for actual feedback on the strap itself.

The DISTINCT benefit over a "normal" strap is that it is slashproof. I will be in Barcelona for over a week and know (firsthand) of numerous people who were robbed of their cameras. It is pretty common knowledge that Barcelona is one of the street theft capitols of the world. Just about every source I've read on the area highly suggest to protect cameras in particuliar. I tend to stray off the beaten path, and I am far from the average tourist. Even at home, I shoot in some high crime rate areas where slash and grab are common. So for me a $15 investment is piece of mind. I protect my laptop and ipod when I travel, why not my camera?

My concern would be comfort. Things are typically made "slashproof" by including something like steel wire or kevlar threads. If that's the case, then the strap will not stretch like a neoprene strap.

my concern would be a strap that is slashproof could annoy the thief enough to slash the camera owner instead, or they could grab the strap and run turning it into a strangle hazzard..

I'd rather give up my camera, but it is a personal choice..

my choice would be to always have camera in hand with strap around wrist, and to be aware of my surroundings

I can see people having their cameras stolen - but is it really that common to have the camera strap slashed? If I were a thief, that would seem like the most troublesome and dangerous way to steal a camera. Easier to grab the strap and pull it over the owner's head quickly while running past, than to sneak up and pull out a knife to try to cut it off, and maybe risk slicing up the owner, which is probably more than the average thief is interested in doing.

Heck, it'd take an awfully sharp knife to slice through my Op/Tech strap in one quick slash, I'm sure...

If this was a considering for me, I might think about a secondary strap that would keep the camera attached if it was pulled over my head, like Op/Tech's wrist strap that had a big velcro strap that goes around your wrist, or maybe even some kind of loose strap that also attached to my belt, so even if they got it over my head, it would still be attached to me somehow, and worst case is that it falls and hits me in the leg or something.

If you are that concerned, a lock on the compartment won't do much. Thieves in Paris broke my zipper to get past my lock to steal my wallet. I wouldn't trust anything valuable on your back.
