Anyone Up For a Little MAYcation?!! A May 2012 WDW PTR with a side of.....

I'm sure it will be more enjoyable for everyone once she starts riding those. Beauty and the Beast is a great show! I'm sure it's not an easy task to get your 3 guys to go sit through it, but it's not that long.

I plan on going to ON tomorrow!!! I wanted to go today, but Cole was miserable.

By the way...love all of your purchases!

It is a GREAT show. We saw it 2 years ago- yes the boys sat through it. DH wanted to see it too. The boys not so much but they actually said it was ok.

Last year DS14 sat through it again w/ me while we waited for DS10 andd DH to ride ToT.

Wow! Talk about fast service!

I know!! :cool1:

I'm doing great, for the most part. Aside from a few small annoyances, pregnancy has been treating me well. :goodvibes

Good to hear! :goodvibes

I hope she tries those rides this year! :yay:

Have fun at ON!! :cool1: Sorry Cole wasn't happy today.

Who wants to talk about Epcot?

We all just love Epcot! It falls first on the list for DH & DS10. And is a close second for DS12 & I! We just all really enjoy the atmosphere there. It's more laid back than the other parks I think. And there's just so much to see. We love both Future World and World Showcase. We usually go to Epcot about 3 times per trip!

Our absolute favorite ride at Epcot is Soarin. We just LOVE it!!

A very close second is Test Track. We are all so totally bummed that it will be down for refurb when we are there.

Other things we love in Future World are Spaceship Earth and Nemo! DH and the boys really like Mission Space, but I don't. The last time I rode that I though I was going to pass out from being enclosed. Never again. But I'll gladly wait on them and take in the Epcot sights all by myself!! We also enjoy Living with the Land (although DS12 & I tend to get a little bored!) and Turtle Talk. And we think Journey with Figment and Innoventions are okay.

We have never done the Universe of Energy. Not sure why, just not too interested. Well that and I have heard that it is very long and I'm not sure I want to give up a half hour of my Epcot time!

Moving onto World Showcase...We all really like the Gran Fiesta Tour. It's always nice to get off your feet for a few minutes in WS! And we all used to enjoy Maelstrom, but a few trips ago DS10 decided that he doesn't like the going backwards part. :confused3 So now just DS12 & I ride it usually.

Last year I finally got to see a film in Epcot. For years I had been after the rest of the family to watch one of them. Any film, didn't care! Finally, we saw Impressions de France. And guess what – no one died of boredom as they claimed they would!! We all actually enjoyed it. So who knows, maybe this time we can hit another one!

Like everyone else, we I just love to walk around WS taking in all the sights.... :lovestruc

Next Up: Disney's Hollywood Studios

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for the walk around Epcot. I so needed that this afternoon. Now if I were really there. :rotfl: Seriously, we love Epcot too. I have heard so many rumors about Test Track and I don't know what to believe. The last thing I read what that the refurb had been delayed which I hope is true. It's been a while since I've looked on the Disney site to see if it's listed. Guess I need to go do that.

Glad you enjoyed the little Epcot tour. So did I!! :goodvibes I needed it too, it was a long day at work. :faint:

Last I looked on the WDW site the TT refurb wasn't even listed. :confused3 Guess I need to check too. That would be so great if it were delayed! :wizard:

Hey Shelly! I've gotten a tad bit behind here. Between tax season, soccer season, and spring chores, I have had ZERO Dis time for the last few days! :sad2: Life!

Anyway, love all the clothes! You always do some great pre-trip shopping. Sometimes I wonder if that is why we plan all these trips. I mean is it really about the vacation, or the all the stuff we 'need' to buy for the vacation? :rolleyes1 I honestly can remember it starting when I was maybe 8or 10. My mom would tell me we were going to take a trip to the beach and the first thing that popped in my mind was, "Oh yeah, that means we get to do some shopping!"

Ok, I have two goals for your trip... (you know you are sick when you start planning OTHER people's vacations... :upsidedow)... are you taking notes here??? I want you to spend lots of time in WS and see Beauty and the Beast. Okay?

I really hate that TT is going to be closed during your trip. That's a pretty big bummer. :sad2: I hope it doesn't make lines for Soarin' longer than normal. I wonder why they are doing that in May instead of a super slow time like January or something? Or maybe there aren't any slow times anymore so it doesn't matter. :confused3 I know you will still have a great time though. Hey, maybe that will give you more time to explore WS?

I totally agree with you on Mission Space. No way, now how!!! :scared1: I think I would die if they strapped me into that thing and I couldn't get out. I've never been on it, but DH and DD rode it and hated it for that same reason. They have so much space up there at the front of the park that I really wish they would add a few more big rides. It seems like everyone goes for TT and Soarin' and that makes for long lines at both. It would be fine with me if they got rid of the UoE, Figment, and whatever that Micheal Jackson thing is and used that space for other things too. :rolleyes1

Well I just checked and Epcot is showing no "operational updates" on the WDW site.....

And even better news -- they added PM EMH on our arrival day at Epcot!!!!! So the day isn't totally shot - we can walk to Epcot after our late night arrival! :cool1:

Love the Epcot post!!! It's our favorite park. I still haven't done Mission:Space...not a fan of small spaces. Madison wants to try the green side this year, but we'll see. Tony has done the orange side and liked it.

I haven't done the Universe of Energy since I was 15 years old! It actually is a 45 minute ride!!!!! That's why we always skip it.

The Disney travel agent website still has the Test Track refurb listed as TBD...no definate dates. Others places seem to say it's going down on April 15th or 16th. :confused3 I guess we'll have to wait and see. I hope it's back up and running in Sept!!! I couldn't ride it on our last trip due to being pregnant with Cole.

I finally got to go to ON today! I didn't buy a single thing for myself!!! I bought some shorts, tanks and t-shirts for Madison and a few things for Cole. I saw some stuff online that I want that are only available online. Time to place an order I guess!

Yay! I hope that the rumors that the TT refurb will be delayed are true. :thumbsup2

I love the Epcot update! :goodvibes Epcot is definitely my favorite park, and like you, I also love both FW and WS. We have been to the films at France, Canada, and China. I remember us singing the O Cananda song on our long drive home on one of our trips. We couldn't get it out of our heads! the films are always a good chance to cool off and rest our feet. And yes, we sit on the ground in the circular films!

You have some great pictures of the countries. :thumbsup2 I love the one of DS12 with the gargoyle in France. The look on his face is hilarious!

This update makes me reeeally want to go back to DW. Are you happy with yourself? :rotfl:

Today sounds like a really good news day for you! I will keep my fingers crossed that TT is not closed. And yay for the EMH on your arrival day!! :woohoo:

That's great that PM EMH were added at Epcot for your first day!:cool1: The walk from the BC to Epcot is so fast- we really took advantage of it this past trip.
I loved your Epcot post! We spent a lot of time in Epcot on our last trip. The walk made it easy to hop there whenever was convenient for us. We especially spent a lot of time in WS. We spent much more time in the countries than we usually do, and I fell in love with just walking around there and soaking in the atmosphere.
We love Illuminations too! We went on an Illuminations cruise this past trip too. It was amazing! Our driver told us all kinds of facts about the show and now I have a new appreciation for it!

We love Epcot too! :cool1:
Our favorite film is the one in Canada. :thumbsup2 When we saw Martin Short in an attraction at Disneyland Paris, the boys said, "Hey, it's the guy from the Canada movie!"

You know how I feel about it, so I won't go into detail. I'll just say I needed the Epcot post.:worship:

Sigh.

Please, Please PLEASE!!!!! Take me with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(And no just coming for breakfast would NOT count.) ;)

So glad Epcot will be open when you get there that night! That makes it so much better. Now don't go all "let me just unpack a few things before we head over.......":rolleyes1

:rotfl:

We love Epcot too!!
It was the best staying at the BC and just walking over there:thumbsup2
My boys especially DS10  SSE! He loves making that little movie about your future at the end. We went on that ride like 5 or 6x last year!!
I have heard lots of conflicting info. about TT too. Don't understand why the refurb isn't listed on website. I'm hoping it closes the week after our trip or at least the day after we get there so we can at least ride once.
The restaurants though are the best thing!!! We have 3 ADRs in Epcot and usually every year.
We have a surprise for my mom the first night we're there. We're eating at Rose & Crown to watch Illuminations. ( Illuminations is her favorite) I'm requesting a patio seat- hope that happens! We did this last year (got a patio seat) and it was the best night of our trip!!

Don't you just hate when life gets in the way of DIS time???

Yep, shopping for vacation is the best!! Of course I love to shop anytime, so shopping for vacation is just an excuse to shop some more! :rotfl:

I love your goals for my trip!! :thumbsup2 I'll try to make you proud. :goodvibes

I'm still holding out hope that the rumor that the TT refurb is being delayed a bit is true!! :wizard:

Yes, Mission Space is just nasty. We did the green side and as soon as they closed that door I got all sweaty and seriously thought I was going to pass out. Never Never Never again. :sad2:

You are right -- Epcot could stand to have another major attraction in Future World. The TT and Soarin lines are always long because the rest of the attractions up there are just okay. And yes, get rid of that stupid Michael Jackson thing!! :scared1:

Love the Epcot post!!! It's our favorite park. I still haven't done Mission:Space...not a fan of small spaces. Madison wants to try the green side this year, but we'll see. Tony has done the orange side and liked it.

I wouldn't recommend M:S if you don't like small confined spaces. I thought I could take it, but I was wrong!!

45 minutes for UoE??? :faint: Okay, that's probably not happening.

I sure wish there was a definite start & end date for TT. Kind of like the BC pool......I hate the unknown.

Well I guess you better order some ON clothes online then! I can't believe you went to the store and didn't get anything for yourself there!! :upsidedow

Yay! I hope that the rumors that the TT refurb will be delayed are true. :thumbsup2

My fingers are crossed!!!!!!!!!:wizard:

Yes that DS12 is always glad to have his picture taken - even if it is goofy!! :rotfl: Can you believe he is going to be 13 this Saturday???

And yes, I AM happy with myself!! You need to get back to WDW. Now's the time!! Do I need to call your DH???

I was so happy to see that Epcot added EMH for our arrival night. Couldn't have worked out better. No buses to contend with or anything!! :cool1:

That's great that PM EMH were added at Epcot for your first day!:cool1: The walk from the BC to Epcot is so fast- we really took advantage of it this past trip.

Well here's a little incentive on the breakfast plan -- We are going to Epcot after breakfast that morning......:rolleyes1 Just sayin'......::yes::

:rotfl:

You know me so well! It will take everything I have within me to not want to unpack before heading over to Epcot that night....:scared1::lmao:

We love Epcot too!!

It will be great being able to walk over to Epcot. We really enjoyed it when we stayed at the BWI!

My boys love SSE too. They always sit together and DH & I sit behind them. That way they can make their own little future video!

IDK why there is nothing listed about the TT refurb on the WDW site. I am temped to call and see what they say, but I know it's not worth it because people on the DIS know more than the CM's most times. :upsidedow

I hope you get a patio seat at R&C! :wizard:

I don't mind waiting a little to get one. But if we can't I think they have a separate viewing area for guests that eat there.

Who wants to talk about my favorite park?!!:lovestruc

I realize DHS doesn't fall as number one for most people. Probably more like third or fourth for a lot. But I just love it! I love the fun atmosphere, all the excitement, the rides, the shows, and how easy it is to navigate!

We usually go to DHS twice on each trip.

7e522bc0.jpg

Where to begin? How about with THE BEST RIDE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: Seriously, is there anything better than the feeling when RNRC takes off?!!! DS12 and I love this ride! DH and DS10 on the other hand do not. :scared1: They both gave it a try and probably won't do it again. I think DS12 could ride this all day if I let him! I can do it about 2-3 times and then I need a break. But I also love just hanging out outside of the building and listening to Aerosmith songs!

98886ada.jpg

11fcbf1e.jpg

And of course next door to the best ride ever is another pretty cool ride – Tower of Terror! Another one for just DS12 and I.

f7f72456.jpg

Toy Story Mania is a pretty fun ride as well and the whole family enjoys it, but the line is always HUGE. Even during the slowest times of the year. Sometimes DS12 & I will ride it with DH & DS10, but other times DS12 will say – do we have to wait in this line when we have the game for the Wii?!! And him and I will take off and go ride RNRC & TOT instead!

e842eb24.jpg

e7428c3c.jpg

Star Tours is another family favorite. The kids just love it. They loved it before and love it even more now that it's 3D! They love how each ride is different now.

DH and I really enjoy the Backlot Tour!

Muppet Vision is always fun. A pretty cool 3D show. Not as cool as Philharmagic, but still pretty good! The kids get a kick out of it when they mention Pittsburgh!

88648c5b.jpg

3bfea919.jpg

37d99775.jpg

And we all love the Great Movie Ride!!

a107bf68.jpg

45952aef.jpg

Sometimes we see the Lights Motors Action stunt show and sometimes we see the Indiana Jones stunt show. We usually do one or the other each trip. But last year somehow we didn't manage to see either.

f1dd5ede.jpg

We did the Voyage of the Little Mermaid once and we used to do the Magic of Disney Animation & Playhouse Disney, but we usually don't hit those anymore.

We seem to do One Man's Dream about every other trip. I hope to do it this year.

There's only a few things we've never done at DHS: Sounds Dangerous (is that even open?), Beauty and the Beast, and American Idol. We may check out AI this time.

We haven't seen Fantasmic since 2009, so I really hope to see it this time. I think I said that on the last 2 trips too and it hasn't happened. :upsidedow

Disney2009249.jpg

Disney2009250.jpg

I guess that covers DHS. I'm really looking forward to being there!:cool1:
