Just wondered if anyone had experience with Joovy strollers for children with special needs? I have one DD with autism and would need it for a 'safe zone' and one who needs to take it easy....tone problems mostly. any advice?

I went to the Joovy website and there are several types of strollers.

Is this jogging stroller the one you are asking about?

If so, there are quite a few reviews on it. Some of the comments I saw said that their child's head hit the canopy before they hit the 75 pound top weight.

Comments people have posted on this board previously about large jogging type strollers included:
  • If there is a swivel wheel option, you need to use it at WDW.
  • They are tall, so some shorter people may have trouble seeing over it.
  • They are large and bulky when folded.
  • They are within the size that WDW allows, but are pretty big.
  • Some need to have the tires removed for folding.
  • Some airlines my consider them to big to gate check.

Hopefully someone with first hand experience will reply, ut at least this is a start.

I looked at Joovy when we were going for ds's first trip. DD needs a place to hide and we use her stroller as a WC since she has low muscle tone.

My issues with the Joovy were:

DD is tall, she was an inch or so away from hitting the canopy. I knew I was going to need the stroller for a while and didn't want to have to spend $ again on a stroller in a few years.

If you are looking at a Sit n Stand type, only one kiddo can be in the shade and reclined. My kids alwasy napped at the same time even at DW so that wouldn't have worked for us.

I went with a Baby Jogger. I ended up getting a single and using a different stroller for ds (he is NT). I got the summit, dd seemed more comfortable in it and still has plenty of room at 5. It was more expensive, but I feel like I saved money by not having to buy another stroller. Since your girls are 3 you may be able to rent one and see if you like it and if not you don't have to try to resell it.

We've done DW 3 times with dd and 2 with dd and ds. DD has high anxiety, Asperger's, SPD, selective mutism, and low muscle tone. Feel free to PM if you have any questions, I will be happy to help if I can.
