That is what we do. We drive from NE Kansas and stop in Nashville to stay with my parents overnight and then continue. They are about 12 hours from WDW. We have driven everytime but the first. Mainly because my DS is terrified to fly and DD cries everytime we take off and land (something with her ears and chewing gum doesn't help). So we just drive. By stopping over at mother's there is no hotel in the middle and we get to visit them for a short while. Sometimes we even plan it so that they caravan with us down to WDW for a vacation themselves![/QUOT
We would have to go during summer or holiday (I teach) and I don't know if DH could get that time off to drive, that is 4 days of driving for the trip...6 nights....that is 10 days minimum...
We used to do that when I was a kid, with my parents...of course, they were cheap and we never got more than a couple days at the MK...had been to WDW 3 times with them and only did MK!!!
this was in the early 90's so I know EPCOT was around and probably MGM...
