Just to give all future cruisers a heads up...we were staying at Ron Jon's the night of October 1st prior to our 10/2 cruise...I just got a call at work that they have cancelled our reservation due to the damage that they sustained from Hurricane Frances. She couldn't tell me of any other resorts that were accepting reservations. Just want everyone to be aware that you may be getting a phone call shortly if you are staying there soon.

Hi MaryJo... We just got our phone call also.. I haven't broken the news to Pete yet, he is still at work. Looks like our adventure is going to change!!:wave2:

Wow, we are staying there on Oct 20 -22. Now what? Cancel and make ressies at WDW just in case?

Yikes, we are supposed to be staying there from Oct 7-9 before our Oct 9 cruise. I think I'd better make some phone calls. Will report back what I find out.

ok, called Ron Jons...couldn't get thru to a real person but the recording said that tenatively the resort (and most of the rooms) would reopen on Friday the 17th. HMM, looks like they might be running behind schedule - left a message ...will report back IF anyone calls me.

Oh no, what are we going to do if it is closed? I can't stay on a WDW resort and not go to WDW... Uh oh!

LOL, I agree...so if Ron Jons cancels i might just have to partake in Mickey's not so scarey halloween party on the 8th. ;)

Called Ron Jons back and they told me the resort is closed until at least the 3rd of October. After that they are playing it by ear and will let me know ASAP. I did ask if there was damage to both buildings and reservationist said yes. I asked water damage? and reply was yes. Hope this helps...i'm going to start researching WDW hotel prices and availability but will call Ron Jon's in about a week for an update.

We have a reservation for a 2br on October 8th, called had spoke to reservations and was told that some rooms sustained water damage. But our reservation was ok still.

According to what Jocelyn told me, the entire resort is closed until further notice...she wasn't sure when they were going to reopen....I only posted this to give everyone a heads up because we were left scrambling with only 2 weeks to go and couldn't get a reservation anywhere near the port. I didn't try to get through to the Radisson.

Thank you for posting! I never would have thought that Ron Jon would be out of commission for so long. It gives me the opportunity to have plan B in place just in case it is needed.

Jennifer :)

We leave on the Magic this Saturday the 18th. I just got the call from Ron Jons regarding my reservation on the 25th - I asked what about this Fridays reservation and they said that was cancelled too!

Did call Radisson and got a room there for both nights.

I posted a little earlier this morning that my reservation for 9/25 was also cancelled. She said it was due to water damage but didn't know if it came through the windows or the roof, she was just told "water damage".

I was able to get reservations at the Swan at WDW.

Hi Jen and Mary Jo,

Count us in on this one too. Looks like we'll all be hanging out in Orlando instead of Port Canaveral the night before our cruise.

We'll now be staying at the Beach Club Villas the night before our 10/2 cruise. Of course that meant that we just *had* to get tickets to MNSSHP on that night too. ;)

FYI - Hello there,
I would like to add something here that just may be another lead to a hotel that might be interesting especially for children - now I just met the owner Michael of the Wakulla Motel here in Cocoa Beach and I was quite impressed with not only what he has done with the motel but also he is a hands on owner - (I try to always be on the look out for your guys) Mike told me he has added quite a bit more to his place and if I had the chance to stop by -
I asked him if he would give cruisers a discount and he is to get back to me on this - now Wakulla is close to most things there in Cocoa Beach and about maybe 3 or so miles from the Port - I don't know any particulars yet since I haven't stopped by but as soon as I have the chance, I will and posted a note on what I find out - Ron Jon's did receive quite a bit of water damaged - they were pushing to reopen today, but the damage was too extensive.
anyhow if I can help further, just let me know.
Always
Shirley

Thanks so much Shirley. You're always looking for a way to help cruisers out.

We are staying at Ron Jons Oct 14-16th, when I called they said that our reservations were ok. They also said that the slide and pool were still ok. How can half of the resort be messed up but the pool and slide still be ok? Wouldn't the hurrican tear down that big slide? What does everyone else think, should I cancel and get reservations somewhere? The pool area was one of the big reasons we wanted to stay there, they kids loved it. Also, it's so close to the port.
