We arrive in at almost 11 pm. My thoughts now are to stay at an airport hotel that has a shuttle from MCO, then use a towncar the next day for transport to BWV. That way, I can use the grocery stop to actually get milk and perishables. My initial thought was to stay at an AS and let bell services transfer my luggage.

Any good recommendations for a reasonably priced airport hotel? I liked the idea of the Hyatt in the airport, but they are priced much higher than alot of the others with a shuttle service.

Any advice for me?

We did that on our first family trip to WDW in 1999. It worked well as our flight also arrived quite late. We chose a hotel that had a van service that picked us up at the airport and then we had Tiffiany Towncars pick us up the next morning. The only negative was that the hotel was a DUMP and, unfortunately for you, I can't remember the name. However, I know that there is a Comfort Suites or some other such chain near the airport [I have seen it on subsequent trips when we are on the I after leaving the airport. I will do a quick search later to see if I can trip my memory. Also, there must be others out there who have also done this [I am not that clever!!!]

That's what we're doing in October...I got Hampton Inn near MCO, has shuttle bus 24 hours, contenintal breakfast for $49(inc.tax). I got it through this site: www.orlandodiscountrooms.com

Moderators will probably move this to the other board....

Have fun!

We did that when we cruised last fall: flew into Orlando Friday night, pitched camp at the airport Hyatt that night, then rented a car to drive to Port Canaveral the next morning. The hotel is handy and very comfortable.

Tip:Check out any specials that might be available at the Hyatt, especially through the airlines or a frequent flyer program. We got a coupon from US Airways for a discount, and the room cost us less than $100!

Happy trails! :)

It was a bit ago, but we did the Holiday Inn by MCO like that. The hotel was nice and in 1998 ran around $89/night.

I have stayed at a hotel close to the airport when I had an early flight out of Orlando. Once I bid on priceline for a 3* hotel and received the Airport Renaissance for $27.00 night (plus tax & priceline's $5.95 fee). Another time I bid on priceline for a 2-1/2* hotel and received the Courtyard Marriott by the airport for $25.00 (plus tax and fee). Both places were great and had shuttle service.

For priceline bidding information, go to www.biddingfortravel.com

For an upcoming trip, I booked a 2-1/2* hotel for $35.00 using Hotwire (www.hotwire.com). I will be staying at the AmeriSuites which has shuttle service and a free continental breakfast. The total price with tax and fee was around $45.00.

We stayed at the Airport Hyatt (directly connected to the airport terminal) last trip. After that experience, I now think there's nothing nicer than walking 2-3 minutes from your plane to the hotel the night you arrive. The rooms were quite nice and the convenience just couldn't be beat (we were really ragged out when we arrived and had experienced flight problems galore that day, so maybe that influenced my perception!). It's true, the prices are steep (we paid over $125/nt on a DISCOUNT), but we won't stay elsewhere now. The desk personnel were exceptionally nice that day, too, which helped.

Just a thought in case you find yourself in a jam.

We stayed at the airport Hyatt on our first night two years ago. It was SO nice to be able to go straight upstairs to our room and crash, since we were coming in from the West Coast late at night and we were pooped!

If you can get a good deal on the Hyatt, I highly recommend it. The rooms are well-soundproofed -- you can't hear the planes landing and taking off. And the service at the hotel was excellent.

RUDisney,
You may be taking a chance picking up perishables on the way to your resort if it's early in the morning. If your room isn't ready yet your perishables may perish.......

I've done this lots of times - great way to save a few dollars when you really don't need to be near the attractions.

Why not try priceline? For around $30 you can get a 3* and all of them are perfectly acceptable.

Hi we are doing that for a cruise in August flying in on Friday will shuttle to
port on Saturday. I was trying for a 3* on priceline at 35.00 with no luck.
I stumbled across Valuetrip.com they are offering the Amerisuites Airport for $49
they are 1/2 mile from airport and has a free shuttle to and from Airport plus continental breakfast. This room sleeps 6 people. You may want to check it out.

When we were living in Texas and did a summer trip to WDW, that's what we did -- stayed the first night in the Hyatt there at the airport. Our flight got in very late .. around 11 too I think, and it was really convenient. Keep checking on the rates there at the airport Hyatt -- I believe we got around $89/night!

We just did this last week because our plane from the west coast arrived at 12:30 a.m. I got the Airport Marriott for $40 on a Priceline bid. You might want to check the less expensive hotels to be sure their airport shuttles run at the time you arrive because some of them stop at midnight (also taking into consideration your flight being late). The Marriott's shuttle was 24-hours/day. We were awed at the Orlando Airport and the Hyatt sure looked tempting after 8 hours of flying. But for the much lower price, getting the shuttle to the Marriott wasn't too bad. If you don't want to do Priceline, I believe the Marriott has specials for $69.

I make it a habit to stay at an airport hotel the first night because I always need a rest after travelling! I've gotten the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel twice on Priceline for $20 and $25 respectively. Love this hotel! They have the BEST room service menu! After the airplane food it's a pleasure!
