I have reservations for the third week in June 2003.I am staying in a two room suite with my wife and four children 8,10,11,12. I was wondering if anyone has recently stayed there and if is a nice place? The price I got was $89 a night. Also how was the complimentary breakfast?

We have stayed at the Quality Suites Maingate East 4 times in the last six years. The first three stays were excellent. The rooms were clean, the pool warm and the service excellent. Last January 2002 the stay was not as pleasant. The room needed repairs, the staff were few and far between and the noise at the pool on several nights was horrible. It didn't help that a large tour group of guys arrived on Thursday and partied everynight. On the second night the staff did put a stop to it about ten o'clock. The breakfast was regular. Muffins, three different cereals, waffles, danishes, toast, juice, milk, coffee & tea. You could bring it back to the room.

I did write a letter to the manager about the broken items in the suite and the attempts to repair some of them. I also mentioned that this had been a quiet family hotel and I was not impressed with the party tours. I received a reply thanking me for my comments. End of story. I would stay there again due to its location, next of Old Town and the size of the units. I would not pay top dollar for this hotel. If you have specific questions I would be happy to answer them.

We stayed there in March 2002 and thought it was nice. Breakfast was fine, nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. The room was nice, spacious and in decent shape.

In November 2002, we stayed next door at the Days Suites and thought that was a much better deal. We had paid $105 for a 2-bedroom at Quality Suites in March. A 1-BR in November would have been about $70, but we were able to do the Days Suites for $39.95. It doesn't include breakfast, but we certainly didn't spend $30/day on breakfast. We had cereal and pop-tarts in the room which cost almost nothing. Days Suites was great because it is right next to Old Town and they give you free ride tickets, so we walked right out from our room and were on the rides within a couple of minutes. I also walked over and got Flipper's Pizza one nite for dinner - they have excellent pizza.

I would stay at either place again, but I'd suggest comparing prices and seeing if you can do better at Days Suites.
