When we first went to WDW 18 years ago my sis and I got our photos taken dressed up like pirates/wenches right outside POC. Great photo!

Of course, you paid for it and it was like those "dress up like cowboys/barmaids" type photos. They pick the clothes and put them on over your own clothes. They had a life size pirate you stood next to and you were on the "bow" of a pirate ship with the ship's wheel in front of you and scenery behind you.

I think he was taken directly out of the attraction - he looked so good! He had a long black beard that was braided with ribbons and yet he still looked 'fierce' - lol.

They also gave you swords. daggers, pistols and a wine goblet to hold. They armed us to the teeth!

We've been back since then but I can only remember a gift shop when you get off the ride. Did they take the photo area away? (I'm sure they did...that would have been great to do this again all these years later.)

Anyone else remember this or have done it? (Sorry, I have absolutely no clue or ability as to how to post photos.)

My brother's family had a photo made there and when we saw it, we wanted one, too. Unfortunately, they don't have those types of photos anymore.

I remember it! We had a picture taken in November of 1980 when our eldest was just 8 months old. The photographer must have been really, really good as it is a good picture of all three of us.

There used to be one where they dressed you up in what looks to be turn of the century clothes and the backdrop was the caboose of a WDW Railroad train. These pics were a family tradition for us, but now they are gone :(

Rhonna - wasn't that a great photo?!!! One of my favorite pics of my now grown-up girls was taken there - I was very sad to see it go - but it's been gone for quite a long time now! We also had a great photo taken up at the front of the park, across the side street from Tony's, where everyone dressed up in Victorian-type clothes and stood in the front of a railroad/trolley-type car I think it was - another great shot !! I've never been a fan of the pictures they replaced these with that have all of the characters super-imposed (is that the word?! ) around you in the picture.

Thanks for the memory - my kids loved dressing up for those pictures - they loved all the beaded necklaces they got to wear and, like you said, the swords they got to hold at the POC one!:smooth:

Hanging in den and gives us a smile when we look at it,really bad eggs were we.::yes:: :wave2:

I have a pirate photo too! Hanging right here in my hall on the "Disney photo" wall! I'd have to take it apart to see what year it was though. I'll always remember that day ... my two brothers and I were supposed to do the photo to give our Mom for Mothers day, but one brother spent all his money and couldn't pay for his third so we left him out of the picture - we were so mad at him! Now, all these years later, I wish we'd just paid his share but oh, those teenage years! Mom gave it to me a few years ago as she no longer had room on her wall - she prefers the pictures of her grandchildren! Imagine!

YES I remember . DH and I had ours taken on our honeymoon. I laugh at it when I see it. I think the ride had the pirate men chasing the women then. NowI am pretty sure the women are chasing the men with brooms?? RIGHT????.We were married in 1987 many , many moons ago.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the beaded necklaces - like Mardi Gras. I need to find that photo again - I know it's around here somewhere.

I never knew about the other photo op - Victorian clothes with the train.

Our trip was around 1984 I think.

Oh well, even though it's gone, I guess I can be glad we got it done and didn't worry about spending the money back then.

And I agree, the photographer must have been good. We both looked good and neither of us normally like ourselves in photos. LOL!

Does anyone know if that pirate was at one time (or maybe is now) part of the POC ride? He sure was authenic looking!

I have the Victorian photos! We were standing in the caboose of a train, and some of the photos were in sepia tones. I look like I stepped right out of a scene from "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Those were fun. I remember you had to wear clothes that were tied in the back, and you could pick from a variety of hats. I sure wish they'd bring that back. There are places in the back of the photo shop on Main Street where they have scenes you can step into, but no props, or clothes to make it authentic. Too bad.

I have a pirate photo too! It is one of my favorite photos! I think it was taken in the 80's. My dad has a pirate patch over his eye, my mom is a wench...and my sister and I are little pirates! I wish they still had these photos as I would love to have one done with my dh and dd. Looking at the photo brings back so many memories of our family trips to Disney when I was a little girl.

I have a pirate photo DS #2, and it's such a treasure. We took it when he was just 6 yo, and I remember that DS #1 and I went to some other attraction (can't rember what, but it was something DS #2 couldn't/didn't want to do.) Now both DSs are adults out of the house and I love to look at the picture-parents, take lots of pictures of your kids at WDW!
