Hi! Getting ready to make ADRs. :cool1:We are wondering if HDDR is something we would enjoy. We are a party of 4, DH, me, DD11 and DS8. We went to the Aloha show at the Poly and were a little let down. My kids both love goofy movies like Home Alone and Wimpy Kid etc.

Also, It sounds like it can be a bit of a pain to get there about how long does it take from CBR and what is the best way?.

Thanks!:worship:This board is a lifesaver!!

Best way is bus to MK, and the boat to Ft. Wilderness. About a 2 minute walk from the dock to Pioneer Hall. Easy Peasy. And as for me, I luv the Hoop and have been about 8 times. Going again in October.

LOVE IT! It's a fun evening! It's definitely worth heading over there.

It was the most expensive meal we had there, and it was worth EVERY PENNY! We all had SO MUCH FUN! It was my husband and I both 28, my aunt 60, and my daughters 3 and 5. Everyone had a blast.

I would second this! We're headed back in May for the 3rd time!

It was one of those things that, from the description, I really didn't think that I would like. Well, we LOVED it!

It really is fun, and each time I've been the entire group, no matter young child, older child, teen or adult, has participated and had a good time. It is loud and campy and silly and just a fun evening!

Also, Fort Wilderness is a bit out of the way, but we often go there even when we aren't doing HDDR or staying at the campground. It's a neat place to just walk around, sit in the rocking chairs, visit the horses, or see campsite when they are decorated for a holiday.

I think DH and I are in the minority. We didn't dislike, but it wasn't for us either. Part of this may be due to the odd table we had and the less than exciting waitress.

There is no comparison between the HDDR and the Aloha show. We also found the Aloha show to be a let down, did it once and that was enough. The HDDR, on the other hand, is a fun, cheesy, slapstick show and we have seen it 5 times and will be returning again in Aug.

Give it a try and see for yourself. My guess is this won't be the last time you see it!

I know I'm one of the only, but we did not like HDDR. We went last spring/summer with DH (38), me (32), DS (5) and DS (2), plus ILs. We were in category 2 seating on the balcony. The seats were good, but the food wasn't (IMO) and I didn't think the show was anything all that wonderful. DH and I MIGHT be classified as foodies, but ILs must certainly aren't (Lean Cuisines are high cuisine in their condo) and none of us enjoyed the food ... in fact it was my least favorite meal on the trip. Now, I don't like to eat meat on the bone, so that was a huge issue for me, but DH found the meat to be dry and FIL thought it was way too fatty and greasy. Corn bread was good, but the sangria was horrible and the strawberry shortcake was just kind of blah.

The show was just so-so for me ... there were funny points, the singing/acting were good ... but it just didn't add up to an unforgettable night for us. We were on DxDP, so I didn't really care that it had eaten up two credits, but this year, doing DDP, we didn't even consider it. Even if were were deluxe again, I don't think we would have made ADRs. Too out of the way, too much time eaten up ... not enough back to make up for the downsides ... IMO. Obviously I am in a huge minority here, but you asked if anyone didn't like it ... so here I am :)

I would say that HDDR was the biggst waste of money that we have ever spent at Disney. I was so dissapointed in the food. I realize that there are hundreds of people for each show to feed but the food was terrrible. The ribs were tough and tastleless.(I loved the ribs at WCC) I guess the fried chicken was OK but when everybody stopped eating the ribs I guess the chicken was already gone. The sangria was horrible. So for the amount of money we ate cornbread and beans, salad and coke. Didn't eat the dessert.
The show was entertaining to the three kids but the adults couldn't wait for the show to end. I realize most of the price is for the show but we went back to WL and ate at Roaring Forks.
I rarely post about Disney dining but my experience at HDDR was bad enough to warn others that not everyone likes it.

We do it every vacation, My DS's are 3 & 10 DD is 13 my DHis 39 & I am ???. We LOVE IT!!!! Me have been taking the kids for years and they can not get enough. The Corn Bread is Amazing & the Chicken & Ribs are good. It by no means is a 4star dining experience but the overall entertainment experience is a 10. Can not say enough. Hope you do it and love it like we do:)

My mom and I like it.. we've seen it twice (about 6 or so years apart), but after the 2nd time, we said we don't want to do it again because we remembered too much. It's cute, but I far prefer Billy Hill and the Hillbillies at Disneyland (you can eat counter service food while watching a much shorter show - but it's also funnier).

My husband HATED the show.. but loved the food and free beer. This trip we're going to Trail's End buffet so he can get the food without the singing, dancing, and clapping.

Hoop Dee Doo is NOT fine cuisine, and it does feature meats which are all on the bone. The show is Hee Haw chic.

Yet, I can let my inner hillbilly have free reign in this place. I drink my sangria and wine out of a mason jar (and the wine probably came from out of a box) and eat with my fingers.

The cornbread is really wonderful and I like the dressing on the salad a great deal. If anything runs out on your table, just ask your server for more, and it will magically appear on your table.

The one exception to that is the dessert of strawberry short cake, so if your party are dessert hounds or there is someone in the party who really wants to pig out, tell your server BEFORE they serve the dessert and they can bring out a larger portion.

Our family loves it. We didn't do it one vacation as we thought the older kids were growing out of the experience, but everyone, including the "way too cool to be kids" teens missed it a great deal.

It is back to our family's must do list.

Mrs. Bob Loblaw listed that Billy Hill and the Hillbillies puts on a better show in Disneyland, and that is true, but since we cannot get them to fly out for a special performance at the Hoop Dee Doo, we will have to make do with bear jokes, banjo solos, and a washboard chorus.

That is a perfect description :thumbsup2

We went, we had fun; the food was filling (but don't eat the Beans!!! :scared1: ). I would not spend the money again but I am very glad that we can say we did it once.

I have been twice - it's been a long time since I have gone. Maybe 18 years. We are def. going in Sept. with my whole family. I went with my parents the first time when I was 14 and have great memories. Then again with friends when I was 18 and we still had a great time.

Now we are going with our children and my parents are coming too. We love it and we love the food - they throw down buckets of ribs and chicken. the butter they have is delicious!!! I would go - your kids will enjoy it! :)

Hoop Dee Doo is a 'One and Done' for us. Horrible food, $$, Pain in the Neck to get to for a few laughs. Never again

My DH hated it, I could take it or leave it, but my DD LOVED it. We went when she was 6, skipped it on our next trip, but it is her dinner pick on our upcoming trip (she'll be 9). My son was only 3 at the time so I am not sure if he remembers it at all.
