Anyone NOT impressed by Palin?

Oh come on! Now you're just being silly! I'm the executive in charge of running my home. I'm also the vice president of our small computer consulting business. I think I'll head over to GE and tell them that I'm ready to take over as president of the company. It makes just as much sense as Palin becoming President based on her experience. Heck, I have a Masters in Education (one level of education higher than Palin), maybe I'll be appointed the Education Secretary.

Do you not realize that as governor, you oversee the business of the entire state. A small state it may be, but give her some credit. Have you even looked up and read anything about what she has done and accomplished the past 2 years? BO has not done anything. Just because she did it on a smaller scale, doesn't mean its worthless.

Well the way I look at it is we can either have an inexperienced PRESIDENT with an experienced vice, or an inexperienced VICE president with an experienced president- I think I would feel better if the president was experienced and the vice not rather than a clueless president but good vice!!!

She may be female but her pro life/pro creationism/pro NRA stance is not going to sit well with undecided Hillary voters.

That is my big issue with her, I am pro choice, evolution and anti gun LOL so basically opposite everything she stands for!!!

Well, I watched her speech. Kind of a joke after watching the Democrats this week. Then, she mispronounced heroism and nuclear --- I had to laugh. Honestly, it looks like she's spent more time in a nail salon than a library. I watched a republican actually discuss her experience on the PTA as one of her attributes---- really? PTA?

Sadly I have to agree. The PTA? THAT is what they have to offer? Did Mc Cain's advisors all go on vacation the week he was making the VP decision?

It boggles my mind that anyone could say they are comfortable with this person possibly being President. And I say person, because I would feel exactly the same way if everything else was the same, except that Sarah Palin was a man.

Ummm, I must read faster than you. It didn't take long to read her biography of a page or two. Or to read her October, 2006, gubernatorial debate.

No, being a mayor of 6000 people and a governor of 700,000 for less than 2 years isn't impressive. It also isn't impressive enough for the Republican Party to be offering her up as a possible President.

Have you read what she has accomplished in her state? Seriously. FAR MORE than what BO, who is your choice as pres, has done. A persons biography does not show what a person has done.

Just because she did not write a book and name it after a sermon of a racist pastor does not mean she does not have a short biography.

I'm not impressed. She's definitely better than some of the more likely alternative selections, but she's not good enough to have helped me make my decision between these two evils (Obama and McCain), so in that regard the effort made to try to make a point about being progressive failed.

Well, I DVR'd her speech, DH just got home and we're going down to watch it again! I can't wait to see what they do on The Daily Show tonight! SNL's gonna have some great material here! She has a short biography. The Republicans made mention of her PTA position when introducing her. That's really scraping the barrel to supplement a resume.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a democrat and strong Obama/Biden supporter.

That having been said, Palin is in no way qualified to be the president of the United States. And let me be clear, when we look at running mates, we can't look at how she would do at her official VP duties, we must be comfortable with that person taking over as president.

It's not just that I have different positions and values than Palin (I'm pro-choice and pro-environment). It's not just that having a conservative Christian in the White House when there are expected to be Supreme Court vacancies scares me. It's simply that being a mayor of a very small town and a short term governor of a small and isolated state can't possibly give her the knowledge necessary to run a country. I don't agree with McCain, and I think he would potentially make some decisions that would go against my beliefs, but he fundamentally knows enough about the world to at least minimally run the country for the next four years. I don't think she does.

When given a chance today to introduce herself and her point of view she spent her time introducing her family and cheering for McCain. As a cheerleader she's great, as a president not so much. She was passed over for a seat in the senate and she's currently under investigation by the Alaska legislature. A bad choice for the Republican ticket...a good choice for Obama/Biden.

Not quite. Obama isn't inexperienced. Rather, he's moderately experienced in national government. Beyond that, you have to factor in how likely it is that the VP will be called-upon to take office as President. AFAIC, it is moderately likely that Palin would become President within the next four to eight years, should McCain be elected in November.

So as far as I'm concerned, its a tie.

I figure we can always fix the economy -- heck we get a chance to start fixing what we broke in less than four years. By contrast, the damage that a anti-choice, anti-gay, pro-gun, religiously-biased presidency can do (i.e., appointment of Supreme Court Justices) lasts a generation or more.

Heck, Chicago has more people than the whole state of Alaska. Not to mention Alaskan politics being a HECK of a lot different than the lower 48 states' politics.

Are you claiming her time in the PTA in your "8 years of executive experience"? Or is it 6 years as mayor of a VERY small town in Alaska and 2 years as a Governor?

By population. It's the third smallest state by population. IMO the higher the population the more complex the issues. The converse is true also. How much has she traveled the world? How much experience and knowledge does she have about the entire U.S population and their needs as well as the population of the global community?
