I want to pick up some things for next year, decoration wise, and I also want to get an adult Cinderella costume for my daughter's birthday party next year and have a teenager dress up as Cinderella for the party. Any ideas when they start their mark downs????

Thank you! When does it drop to 75 and 90? I think I may pick up the dress to be safe, then when it goes lower pick it up again, and return the 50 one.

You may want to check out the Target return policy, they changed it to stop people from doing that. When you return a holiday item, even with a recipt, you will still only get back the lowest selling price.

At least the 2 Targets near me implemented this "holiday return policy" a year or so ago that may make it hard for you to do this. Before the policy, it was allowed to buy something at 50% and if it was still available at 75% , you could buy again and then return with the receipt the 50% one.

Now according to the policy, if you bought at 50% off, for example, and returned on a day that it was selling at 90% off, you'd get not what you paid even though you have the receipt, but the 90% off price.

Haven't read of this actually happening to anyone, nor has this happened to me -- but I haven't tempted fate and tried to do it. So I now NEVER go to Target until Halloween things are 75% off. Lots of other places to hit that are more customer friendly and there's never anything I truly need so no biggie if I don't give Target my $$s.

I didnt know that Target had that policy but it makes sense.

Another reason to shop the after Halloween sales is for Christmas presents. A few years back (ok 7 years) I bought up as many barbie/princess/etc costumes for my then 6 year old stepdaughter at 50% and 75% off with the accessories and put everything in a big storage tote and she got her "dress-up trunk" on Christmas Day. I think that was her favorite "toy" for about 4 years until she outgrew everything. Now that it doesnt fit she is still having a hard time passing it on to my niece.

I am planning on doing it again for my boys this year but there isnt as many cute/not violent dress up ideas for boys.

OT- you are so right about the lack of decent boy costumes. We are having a hard time this year for my 8yo DS. He does not like scary costumes or the cartoon, movie character type thing. There is VERY LITTLE remaining to pick from. He has already run through policeman, firefighter, racecar driver...AARgh

All I could find at the store was 10,000 variations on the Ninja Warrior...We settled on a (good) Knight costume. I guess this is slightly violent themed, but at least there is no fake dripping blood! Thank you for letting me vent. I feel (a little)better now.

WE used to work at Target and their markdown schedule was every 4 days...so I'm guessing it will go to 50 percent off on Wed, Nov 1. Then 75 percent off on Sunday, Nov 5th and 90 percent off on Thurs, Nov 9th and then I would guess Monday, Nov 13th or even sooner depending on what's left, everything left over will be tossed out or sent to Goodwill. That is not set in stone....just a general idea of how Targets have been clearancing that past few years.

That policy is printed on the receipt, but I have yet to see it enforced at any of the stores I shop at and I've returned many things after the whole halloween clearance and received the money back that I paid. I've also never read about anyone getting a lower amount back than what they paid.

the only thing that they will not take back and give you what you paid is holiday lights. They put up signs in the light section about this. I have been buying clearance there for YEARS and have never had a problem returning anything with a receipt. (the key words there are "with a reciept" by the way, without one, you most likely will get the current price).

Over the past few years, I have noticed stores start the major discounting before the day after the holiday. You might want to check on 30 or 31 October - bet Halloween items will already be on sale by then.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo upset!!!!!!!! I went this morning and the adult Cinderellas are all gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to all the ones in the area, this is terrible!!! :guilty:

We did a knight too! And there was a pink bunny among the older boys at school, so I guess after a while they really run out of things to be, LOL

The Target closest to my house was slim pickings this morning! Most of the costumes gone, most of the good home decorations gone and not alot of halloween gifts stuff left either (plastic rings, halloween pencils, etc..) BUT they had tons of candy left and i did get a few fall decorations that were included in the 50 off. I got good chocolate candy and a few really nice docorations so im happy.
