Thanks I thought it was a camera however I did not se a way to close it. I just turned it off and placed it face down on the desk.It has a camera but you can slide it closed.
No way I'd have something like that in our house. It will get unplugged and put in the closet. YikesThank you.
I do not have anything like that nor will I ever have anything like that in my home. To be honest I am old school and would not trust something like that listening to everything I say.
The other thing is it looked like it has a camera on the upper right hand side of the screen. Does anyone know if it is a camera?
That really disappointed me to hear. Not that you didn't know what to do with it (I wouldn't either), but I'm disappointed that Disney spent all that money on those Disney Alexa things, then don't give any written instructions for guests as to how they can use it, what good things you can do with it and how.My wife and I were staying at Copper Creek for Christmas. When we checked into the room we noticed this on the desk next to the bed.
What is it?
I ended up turning it off and laying it face down on the counter because it looked like it had a camera in it.

There are instructions for them in the check in materials as well as in each room. Technology does scare a lot of people though. We used it several times. Very handy for giving you opening and closing times and all. If you asked it when the next show was for Lion King it would tell you. Very helpful if you just are familiar with how to use them. Great for weather too. That really disappointed me to hear. I’m not sure that Amazon didn’t sell them to Disney at a discount or subsidize them completely, since they’re an advertisement for those devices. I’m sure Amazon hopes Disney resort guests will like them and buy one for their own homes. That really disappointed me to hear. Lots of people happily manage everyday life without Alexa. There are instructions for them in the check in materials as well as in each room. Technology does scare a lot of people though. Unfortunately we did not receive anything when we checked in other than key cards. I looked at the materials on the desk and did not see anything mentioning what it was or how to use it.There are instructions for them in the check in materials as well as in each room. I may have missed that the card. There are information cards in rooms as well. They're easy enough to unplug if not wanted. But from a security standpoint, it's not a whole lot different than the camera and microphone on a cell phone, tablet, laptop, etc.

You unplugged it. Problem solved!I may have missed that the card.
As far as cameras and microphones on my personal technology I have control over those because they are in my possession, no one that I do not know will be messing with them. Also I use anti virus programs and camera covers on my computers, tablets and phones.
With the device in the room I have no idea what may have been done to it either by an outside source of even a past guest because I do not know how they work.
Our exact response to it.We saw the first time when we stayed in September. First thing we did was unplug it!
