Anyone know of a laundry detergent or softener that REALLY smells nice?

Hi, I'm looking for suggestions for a laundry detergent or a softener that really makes the clothes smell nice/clean/spring like.
I was using the Tide pods with Downey Fabric Softener but that really doesn't seem to do the trick.
I just switched to using Snuggle Fabric Softener with a lilac scent along with the Tide Pods. I could smell the nice scent when I took the clothes out of the washing machine but when I took them out of the dryer the nice smell was gone.

Any suggestions for a nice/clean/spring like scent?

Tide causes residue that in turn makes clothes smell worse. I use 1/2 cup white vinegar as a softener added to each load. Clothes smell fresh because it removes residue and it is the best softener ever.

It also does not blow chemicals out of the dryer exhaust into the neighborhood. And it is cheap.

Liquid Tide with Downy and Gain usually have noticeable fragrances after the dryer for me. I've tried the beads like the Downy Unstoppables but don't find the scent noticeable enough to make it worth the extra expense/laundry purchase. I always purchase the expensive scented dryer sheets as well like Bounce or Gain, which helps. I could also depend on your machines - mine are old and the scent is hit or miss for me, but when I've done laundry on my parents' new machines, I can definitely notice the scent after.

Yes, I've also purchased the beads but like you never really noticed much of a difference in the smell of the clothes after being washed.
I will say, I can't wait to go shopping later this week as I'm going to try out some of the products mentioned in previous posts.

I used to buy Surf because I love the scent. I can't find it now at my big box store, so I've been getting Gain recently. It's kinda like the Surf scent, but a bit stronger.

my son in grade 5 came home from school recently and said "jimmy says i smell". i said "trust me son, you smell clean. when and if you smell bad, you will not hear it from a friend at school, you i will tell you". so the other day he came home from school and said "jimmy said he always stands next to me in line because my clothes smell good". yup, exactly. apple mango tango.

Off subject a little, but am I the only one who loves walking down the laundry aisle in the supermarket because it smells so good?!

I switched from Bounce and I noticed Snuggle stays. Even my neighbor told me she loves when I do laundry because she can smell the dryer sheet from the air dryer vent.
