Anyone know how to get mold out of clothes?

I found a bag of clothes in my trunk from a beach trip a few weekends ago and they have mold on them. I would really like to try to save them. any suggestions?

I'd start by washing in hot soapy water, with bleach... that should kill the mold as well as any mildew on the clothes.

I would try color safe bleach (Clorox2) or Oxyclean.

Put some Borax in the wash (or soak them first also) and use hot water.


Mold Removal From Washable Clothing
Fill the washing machine up with water. Pour in 20 muleteam borax and hydrogen peroxide, and let water agitate for 1 minute. Put clothing into the machine and let agitate for 2 minutes. Let clothing soak for one hour. Let clothing go through cycle. When clothes are finished you may want to wash them a second time, following the same instructions as the first time, to ensure that all the mold spores are removed from the clothing.

Soak them in hot hot water with Shout Oxyclean. I find Shout's brand of Oxyclean is the best. I have removed some really bad mildew this way.
