If the rumours are correct, by the time we all arrive in December we may be locked out of using regular FP if we are part of the FP+ test. i.e. Disney may not issue us with KTTW cards at check-in and other loophopes are being closed.
if this is the case will people stick with FP+ or try to opt out of the test and just revert to good old legacy fast pass?
I don't believe the rumors for a second. There hasn't been any confirmation from Disney that they are even considering this move. Even the terms and conditions don't state that they are making guests choose between fp+ and fp-. In fact, there has been confirmation from CM's that KTTW cards will still be issued and we will still be able to get the legacy fast passes.
I will be one asking for KTTW card. I will definitely explain to them that I am paying extra for park hoppers and want ability to pull fp in my parks I hop to. Surely they will understand my position.
I have called IT the last two nights asking questions, surprisingly hearing basically the same things in regards to FP and Kttw and MB. I posted in another thread, so hope no one minds, but I'm just going to copy/paste to here what was said.
---I called IT last night and tonight. I was asking about 3FP+ in one park, hopping and the KTTW cards in relation my trip in Dec. Both times the person said they will be continuing to give both the bands and the cards. I said I had read they will be limiting the Kttw cards to only select guests. They each said that they will still be giving them out and that any guest can have a kttw card along with their magic bands. If they don't offer it just ask and anyone can use them, they won't be told no. She said one reason they need to give out the cards is because of AP holders, and they can't turn paper fp off for some and not others. And they both said they'd continue to be available to any guests who wants to use them along with bands or in place of them. They also said they can be used to pull paper Fp's and that will help w/park hopping. I asked, I can do that? Again tonight, this woman also said of course, as the guy did last night, I asked is that really allowed or is it cheating(per some posters's opinions), and she said yes it is allowed and expected and it's not cheating. She said the two FP pools don't influence each other, both pulled from separate pools - the two systems don't talk to each other.
Forgot, I also asked about surveys and she said they ask about all FP types you use while testing. Another thing I forgot, she also said in past surveys, the average amt of FP's used by a guest was 2.5
this.
The MDE/magic bands webpages say that anyone concerned about bands and their long range scanning can ask for an RFID card.
I can't imagine they can EVER get rid of that option for a variety of reasons.
So as long as FP- is alive and well for cards things should be all set. In theory they can program the FP- system to search for FP+ and deny based on that, but since it took them literally years to program the FP- system originally to even see if a card was used for park admittance i dont see them wasting any time or resources to update the FP- system right now. But on this I could for sure be wrong.
Exactly! As the CM said, there are people who won't wear or carry a band, or can't because they are allergic or something, offsite guests, AP offsite guests she particularly mentioned, and more. Tonight this CM also said that they will open testing to offsite AP holders next, after they finish current testing which opened to all resorts this week, and goes till Jan 5th. They have heard nothing of a complete roll out as of yet. I asked about offsite guests that were not AP holders and she wasn't sure, it would be sometime after that. She said it was hard to test without being tied to resort so still being worked out. Oh, and I also asked if was MDX or MDE and she said it's officially MDX though some guests call it MDE.
LOL is right. They would have to actually put information on there in the first place that might actually be useful to someone.
I know the rumor said it was supposed to start on the 27th. I check in on the 26th. I'll ask the CM and see what kind of answer I get. LOL
Yes, let us know your experience, hope it goes well! And have a great trip!

can I get one that make me 4 inches taller and 20lbs lighter?
Whoa, now that is a Magic Band that I definitely want!!
