Anyone here remember a tv show called Growing Pains?

The Wonder Years is on Netflix instant, so not that hard.

Right, it's out there but not being syndicated to the extent that many other shows are being syndicated from that era. It is also not available to purchase, at lest I don't believe it has been made available on DVD as a complete series yet.

I have to just pop in and say that it's extremely funny to me that this thread showed up, because my coworkers at work yesterday were talking about this show, and while I've heard of it, I had no idea what it was about.

Looked it up and discovered it ended when I was 1. Then we had a whole conversation about how much younger I was than everyone else.

That was Family Ties.

Totally off topic, but Kirk Cameron married a girl from my home town...when they had the wedding everyone was outside trying to catch a glimpse of him.

I remember that. I was not one standing outside but I do remember watching the news with the footage.

Yep, he married his girlfriend from the show. His sister's show (Full House) is on pretty much every night on Nickelodeon. DD loves it. She's particularly fond of Uncle Jessie. :rotfl:

She has good taste!

That said, I enjoyed that show...but I like corny sitcoms and if it was in re-runs I know I would watch it.

I use to love this show. I had a crush on "Luke" who was played by Leonardo Dicaprio. I just thought he was so cute (and he still is;)) It used to come on after Who's the Boss another favourite of mine. I also loved Full House, Blossom and The Wonder Years.

We loved Who's the Boss. I don't think they ever came out with more than season 1 on DVD.

It depends who, if anyone, owns the syndication or rebroadcast rights.

The show that is hardest to find is The Wonder Years. I remember listening to an interview with someone who was in the television industry and they pointed out that it was because music was a big part of that show and when the original rights for that music was negotiated they didn't include the option to syndicate or release DVDs.

This, or course, is another example of stupidity in and industry that keeps clinging to old business models as I can right now pirate every episode of the show with one click of the mouse.

The Wonder Years was on The Hub nightly for a while (along with Doogie Howser, MD). I don't know if they're still showing it, though.

I loved when The Wonder Years was on The Hub! That is one of my top 3 favorite shows! Love the music and the story! I would love to get it on DVD!

I was wondering if it still airs anywhere ?

I grew up in China and this show was a huge hit. I mean really reAlly huge. Back then, there were not many American shows. It was re aired in the late 90s and that year, the college entrance exam in my city required you to write a small passage about a TV show you like. I believe this was the one people wrote about the most.

Ah, I totally miss this show and wish they'd show reruns where I live!

The earlier (pre-Leo, pre-Chrissy) episodes were the best, with Mike being such a smart-***. I used to have a huge crush on Kirk Cameron.

My favorite episode is where Carol's boyfriend (Matthew Perry) dies. Wah!

Brad Pitt was also in it for an episode or two.

But the real question is, does anyone remember the spin-off, Just the 10 of Us?

Did not know it existed I will have to look into it

Wasn't Just the 10 of Us where the coach takes his family (all female if I remember) to another town/city?

And that's without Googling. :cool1:

 Look at this awesome Alan Thicke video I found :dancer:

Also, I remember "Just the Ten of Us".

And I know that Alan Thicke has some sons (some being with Gloria Loring) with a famous one being named Robin, but I didn't know anything by him until I looked up "Blurred Lines" because of this thread. All I can say to that is "Yuck" to that awful song. I'd rather watch "Hot and Sweaty" :cool1:

Even before "Thicke of the Night", he had a Canadian talk show in the early 80s called "The Alan Thicke Show". I remember watching it whenever I was home sick from school.

Also 13 years ago my now DH and I went on a Princess Cruise to Mexico and he was also a guest on the cruise ship. He looked familiar whenever we walked by him but I didn't figure out who he was until we were waiting to disembark.

I use to watch "Growing Pains" a lot when I was a teen. Another one who had a crush on KIrk Cameron then.

Was it on in the daytime? That reminds me of the daytime "The David Letterman Show" that I remember watching occasionally during its brief run. I'd forgotten about it. I would have been about nine years old. I guess they were both more suited to prime time and late night.

This was one during the day. I think it was around 1PM right before "Another World". LOL. I googled it and it was on between 1980-1983. That would have made me between the ages of 10-13.
