Anyone hear what the new incentive is...?

Perhaps I am looking at this incorrectly. Are the above calculations asuming that the person will be renting out the 2004 and 2005 points and this is why there is a reduction in the overall cost. To me it appears you are paying $5 more per point and getting an additional 100 points in a one time allocation than when compared to the previous offer of $85 per point. Am I missing something here?????

What the ????

I have the SSR documents ready to sign and I just got thrown for a loop! How I don't know which is a better deal?

I don't really know what the new incentive really means. Should I use the $85/pt incentive or the new one!!!

HELPPPP!!!

Did they lower the minimum buy in points from 150 down to 120 ???

I called my guide and I am waiting for a return call. I suggest you do the same and ask qustions about the new incentives. Please post if you find out anything and I will do the same. I also just got my documents today and now I am confused. I know I want DVC but like everyone else I want the best deal going :) :wave2:

I believe this is the incentive for add-ons. Most people only add on in small increments such as 25-50 points. DVC will offer greater incentives for larger add ons of 100 points or more. We added on twice last year once for Member Homecoming and we received a special print and again for the free AP's with 130 point add on.

If you are a new member, purchasing your initial contract, I doubt if these offers apply to your purchase. DVC would be cannibalizing itself which I doubt it would do.

I wanted to add that the incentive quotes were given and posted by a current DVC member.

Has anyone heard anything yet?

These incentives are for existing owners only.

I'm uncertain about the current incentives for first-time purchasers.

I talked to my guide and this is the news I got:

The promotions listed above is correct but is for existing members adding on 120 points or more. The poster whom wants to purchase 300 points now might consider purchasing 150 now and doing an add on later. I am not sure when this incentive ends but she said there are always nice incentives to add on 100 plus points at one time.

The new promotion is for new DVC members, which we can change to since we have not sent in our documents, we just got them today. . There is no dues for 2005 and points in September or December UY. DVC will discount 8$ off per point... So you would have to figure it up to see if it works out better for you to have no dues this year and DVC paying 8$ vs. the 10$ they were paying... and the payment start dates are October 1st. 2005... Your down payment initially is a bit more since you have to pay 20 % down and now DVC is only paying 8$ a point towards this down payemnt. She thought the new deal would work better for us so I am going to write it all down and compare...

:wave2:

Is this only good at SSR? We want to add on at another resort. (I know you have to wait because they are technically sold out, but my in-laws own at SSR so we want another resort :)

Assuming the minimum for new buyer is still 150 pts.
On the old incentive = $12,750 + $286.50 (June UY) = $13036.5
On the new incentive = $13050

Am I right?

You are correct! So the only incentive for us to change is to get the UY we originally wanted and instead of payments starting in June, July or August they will start in October ( which is when DH get his annual raise :) ) So that is why this incentive works best for us... Payment start date is the same month as DH's next raise :)

If the minimum points for new members is less than 150 that would really be interesting. Any confirmation on that?

That's how my brain figured this out too. At $62 NET a point...I think I'd be forced to buy too!!!! BUt then, I have oft been prone to math dyslexia...so lets get some feedback here to see if this is right!
Colorado Belle

The points are currently $95 each.

Subtract $5 each if you want the "04" points = $90 each
or
Subtract $8 each if you want the "05" use year = $87 each

Sorry if I confused you.

Alice

HI Alice...no, you didn't confuse me.....I confuse me :rotfl:

I think the poster before me discounted the cost per point IF he rented out his alotment of 2004 and 2005 points and started using in 2006. NOt sure if that also included the 'free 100' points being rented out too.

So of course I am still confused....

$95.00 per point but if you give BACK the 2004 points, you deduct $5 and if you give BACK your 2005 points your deduct $8? So then there wouldn't be any points to rent out right?

Woudl new members also get the '100' point bonus?

I admit I never understood what points you got to use with the old 'incentive' of $85.00....someone once posted that you got points right away and then when your use year came up, you got more points (for 2005) and that you didn't have to pay dues until you got the use year points.

With resales, there are often 'loaded' points from 2004 but even if the 2005 dues are paid, usually the seller expects you to reiburse him for the dues for 2005. (Seems reasonable). With resale you pay an additional @$400 for closing costs. But I've never really understood about dues being due if you buy direct form Disney.

"and if you give BACK your 2005 points your deduct $8? So then there wouldn't be any points to rent out right?"

Hi Belle - actually I thought you got to keep the '05 points. Maybe someone else can clear that up.

"I've never really understood about dues being due if you buy direct form Disney."

I think they are due after you close regardless of your use year or when you start accruing points. (unless of course Disney is offering to pay them for you)

Maybe I overlooked it here, but did anyone post any new incentives, or quote what the current price is for add-ons of less than 100 points? Like 65? Thanks

I like to know that too. My guide will have more info today but she heared that all add ons MAY have a 100 minimum points to avail any incentive and 120 for the extra 100 pt bonus. Will know more later.
