DH & I attended an open house for the charter school in our county. It is based on Monessori (not absolute - as that rarely exists in US). I can see some definite advantages to it but also have some reservations about whether it is the right "fit" for my boys. I would love to hear other peoples' experience with this. (Feel free to PM me if that makes you more comfortable.)

Thanks

there is a poster here: "montessori." you could try pm-ing her. i know she is very involved with the montessori approach.

You could also pm Nativetxn. She is an advocate of Montesorri.

My youngest is at a montessori school here in Houston that is one of the few Montessori schools that goes through high school. My DD is thriving in this environment and is doing extremely well on her achievement tests. This school has been a good decison for my DD (I admit that I personally do not like the approach, i.e. I was a grade nerd and like structure).

My DD - 8 attended a Montessori school for preschool.
It did not suit her though -
she was to 'social'
she skipped the parallel play stage! :D
Although she did know all of her continents at 4 years old (not now though!)
I think it will depend on your child and the school-and personnel.

I wanted to bump this up top see if there are some more thoughts.

My biggest concern is how Montessori taught children transition into a regular high school. (Our charter Montessori school will only go through grade 8.)
