anyone have details on the comp. vacation?

just got an email about buying at SSR. anyone know what the details are for the free vacation?

I haven't heard anything about a comp vacation YET, but it's funny you post this today, I got a call from a DVC agent that my wife and I talked to on our last trip (August '03) that: They are pre-selling phase II of SSR and they have new exception new deals, that probably won't get any better. I'll be calling him this afternoon when I get home from work to see what the details are. If you hear anything back I would really be interested in the details, as we are heading to POR this november and if we can swing the free vacation for the same time it would save us $$$.

You can either take a discount of $10 off per point OR they will give you a number of Developer's Points which can be used toward a DVC stay between now and 12/31/04.

I don't think either offer is necessarily better than the other--just depends on whether you intend on visiting WDW in the next 5 months.

I saw a notice on the DVC board saying "Free Vacation Offer" yesterday. They don't give any details.

Combined with Robund's info, it sounds like they are probably offering something similar to what they did with the BCV pre-sales. Since you are buying future points that can't be used currently, they allow you to have some nights at a WDW resort based on how many points you buy. The BCV deal also offered a cash discount instead of the vacation. I wonder if they'll do the same for SSR?

My DD just started the process of buying into SSR. I believe she said your choice's are $10.00 off per point and her use year will be march 2004 or egual amount of 2004 points good until 9/05 to be used anywhere BUT SSR. She took the $10.00 off deal. Susan

Sounds like the same program that we were offered when we bought into the BCVs before they opened.

When we did the math with the points we were buying, it came out to our advantage to take the $10 off rather than the "vacation."

I just bought in and took the comp vacation. It is correct that you have to take the vacation before 9/31/05 and that you cannot use the vacation on SSR. You basically get 150 points to be used however you want (except at SSR) and can take multiple vacations on the points as long as they do not occur after 9/31/05. You cannot bank the points.

Do you have to turn in 2004 points in order to get the $10 discount?

Yes -- you lose your 2004 points (at least that was how it was explained to me)

We just bought in and took advantage of the $10 per point discount. We had to give up our 160 points for 2004, but instead we took $1,600 discuont and put it toward our downpayment (we had already paid $1400), so it allowed us to put down $3000 downpayment which helped us out alot.

We just purchased 180 points. There are no 2004 points, they are now selling phase 2 which is not built yet, so no points there, not until 2005. They are offering developers points as a "replacement" for 2004, these points need to be used by 9/30/05 any WDW resort BUT SSR. We took the dev. points & will use that for HH in June 05 & WDW for 9/05, we will then bank the majority of our 2005 points into 2006. We did some points figuring & through banking, we can have 210-220 points per year for the next 5 or so years.

The other option was $85 per point.
