Anyone going in May 2008?

I just came upon these boards and also just finalized some trip plans. I didn't really know where to start there are so many threads. I am pretty much a Disney Newbie I have only been once and that was 15 years ago and I've forgot most of it, lol. I will be solo for two days (May 5,6 2008) and a couple nights while my wife attends a conference. I am always interested in metting new people. At this point I am leaning towards spending my solo days in Epcot just leisurely checking out the flower festival, world showcase, and what not. It seems that there are at times pre-planned meetings of solo people on this forum. Anyone that might be interested in meeting up or know of anyone thing specific going on those days let me know. Again I am a Disney newbie so I not really making specific plans just going to have a couple of slow days.

My DH and I will be there from 4/30 - 5/9 and would love to socialize with other Disers. Is there going to be a meet? Could someone give me the information? Thanks. Looking forward to seeing you all.:goodvibes

I will miss the meet, my dinner is at 7:50pm. Where are you all planning on watching Illuminations from? Maybe I can try & meet you all there!

I'll be staying for fireworks. My offsite hotel shuttle doesn't come until 10:30pm so I've got so time to kill after Illuminations. I know the park will be closed after that, but by what time will they actually kick me out of Future World - I figured I'd just make a slow trek back to the front gate after Illuminations, people watching along the way & taking in the sights. Sights of what I don't know, but I'd rather exit the park slowly than sit outside waiting for the bus for an hour!

Tink - you're at R&C at 7:50 correct? There's only Morocco & France between you & us meeting in Japan, I'm sure we can all agree on a spot to look for you. Not sure anyone can hear their cell with Illuminations going on. Honestly, I've never walked into Japan! No kids this time so I plan on taking my time in every country in World Showcase.

If any of you are still interested in the meet and would like to PM me your cells, that'd be great. I'm going to send out a final list to everyone next week.

Also, anyone who is confirmed for the meet, I've started my PTR, if you'd like to check it out. You all shall be mentioned in my recounting of our Dis Meet to come! Here's the link if interested: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1792402

Yes that is correct! I am hoping to get outside seating at R&C to watch Illuminations, but we all know that might not happen lol

If you all decide on a spot, let me know & I will try to be there!

Hey Nemo - I just read your pre-trippie & it looks like we are on the same schedule for 3 days! I also arrive on Sunday & am heading to MK for the afternoon & evening. Monday I'm hitting AK til it closes, then heading to Epcot. Tuesday I'll be at Epcot all day. We'll have to try & spot each other (DIS Scavenger hunt :lmao: ). I'll be solo & have my LGMH from Home Depot on my bag, and I do have one lime green polo shirt - I might save that for Tuesday when we have the actual meet!

Maybe I will walk over to R&C to watch Illuminations - I'll wear my lime green polo shirt that day - maybe that will help ID me. I plan to have my LGMHs on my bag strap too, but last time I tried that they fell off or were destroyed in a few hours. We should all plan to have something lime green on, or the LGMHs on us, something to ID each other.

:rotfl: That's too funny. Great Dis minds think alike. ;) Well, I'll be wearing my lime green baggallini daily. I'll keep my lime green radar up for you. In the meantime, keep reading. :)

Ok I am a dork - someone is going to have to post a picture of a Baggallini - I've heard about them forever but have no idea what they look like!

There is a DIS Meet sub-board on the Community Board, if you want to post our DIS Meet. I'd be sure to specify that it's an adults or solo only post, if that's important.

Baggallini is a brand that has all sorts of sizes and shapes. I'll try and post a pic of mine later. I'm sure they have a website if you look it up.

And I'll put a post up about our meet. :)

Hey.... I'll be at AK on Monday, too! :cheer2: Remember.... big yellow Lab service dog, wheelchair and goofy, grinning lady....that will be my group!

I'm getting confused who to look for - maybe we should start a list on here? :confused3

Pooh Happy I'll be on the lookout for you. Do they allow your service dog on the attractions? That might seem like a dumb question but I never saw a service dog in WDW before! That should make it easier to find you. There shouldn't be too many solo ladies in a wheelchair with a yellow lab service dog! (Now watch, there will be tons of them that day, and I'll be going up to all of them going "Are you Pooh Happy?" and they'll look at me like I'm nuts!) I'll be at AK Monday from about 11-close, then hopping over to Epcot for the rest of the night. My hotel shuttle only leaves the hotel at 7:40 or 10:05, and I will probably not make the early one. My "must-do's" for AK are the Safari (more than once if the lines are manageable) and Dinosaur. I might (BIG might) try EE if I can find the courage. I also enjoy ITTBAB but without the kids along I'm not sure I'll want to do it.

I'm compiling a list of everyone w/ cells and names that I'm going to send a final copy to everyone next week. No worries, it's organized.

Also, try EE...it's not as bad as some other roller coasters like at Six Flags.

This is who I've got, however I only have few cells/names, but here is is:

Nemo32
Aubriee
Jamstew
Lustergirl
Tarapa
Poohhappy1
Outonarun
Marsh0013
Tinknme
Surfergirl602

And be sure to go over to the thread I started in the DisMeet board...that'll help with confusion if we're all there.

I hate roller coasters but love thrill rides, if that makes any sense. I hate spins & loops, heights & drops. But I love rides like Dinosaur & Test Track. Is some of the ride dark? I actually prefer it that way. I don't like being up high & seeing what's ahead!

This made me laugh...the thought of you going up to people and asking "are you Pooh Happy?" :lmao:

Actually my SIL (Karen) is in the wheelchair. She goes on some of the rides with Cee (the dog) like Ellen's Adventure but mostly just enjoys hanging around (and sipping wine:rolleyes1 ) in EPCOT. I'm not sure how much she will do in AK but we'll figure it out as we go. Trying not to over-plan and stress her out.:)

I would do EE with you if you want to call me when you are contemplating that. I haven't done it yet and don't love roller coasters but I think I could manage it.

Please try it! And then you can tell everyone on Tuesday about your first time on EE. I absolutely love it and I by no means can handle anything extreme. It's fast, partial dark and the drop isn't that bad. It's over in a second. But you'll laugh the whole ride if you try it.

Ok I'll think about it. Jennifer (I saw your real name on here so I won't have to go up to people & ask if they're Pooh Happy!) - maybe we could brave it together. I'm counting on using the single rider line - if I have to wait tooooo long I might chicken out.

Alright! I got ya thinkin' about it...which is the first step toward yes.

Ya know, you can't you use the line as an excuse...that's what FP is for. ;)

I'm braver in tandem! Once a SIL rushed me (yes, we ran despite repeated warnings to walk from the CM on the Segway...:rolleyes1 ) to Mission Space right after the rope drop and we were the second group of riders for the day...no time to think about riding it...so off I went on the original version....nearly lost my breakfast, but I survived. I have done the "tamer" version a few times now. She will probabaly never do either side again. I think she was green for hours afterward. That'll teach her to make me run!:rotfl:

I'm having trouble keeping up with all the different post of who might be where during the couple of solo days I am there. There are atleast three post about the meet on the 6th.

Nemo32- it looks like I probably will not make the meet as I will have to be elsewhere that evening my solo time will be over. I will be solo earlier that day and the day before and if I should happen to be able to extend my time in Epcot on the 6th I will certainly try to go to the meet. I also read your PTR and it is great keep up the good work.

So from what I've read lime green is the color to indicate friendly solo travelers is that right. I certainly dont have anything lime green but maybe I can come up with something.

Also I have got a couple of private messages from people about possibly meeting up but no matter how I try it will not let me send a response via PM or email, so anyone that has PM'd me yes I am always open to meeting up for a chat or rides or whatever and I will continue trying to find a way respond to you in a couple days, I'm going away for the weekend.

Well, I hope you get to extend your stay in Epcot! And Lime Green is the way to go!
