Anyone get a GTY assignment for May yet??

I haven't really educated myself very well on what is in the various rooms. But, when you said no clothes storage, it kind of worried me. Do Cat 11 cabins not have any clothes storage? We have been on a Cat 11 on the Wonder and a Cat 9-10 (Secret Porthole) cabin on the Magic. I know the 11's don't have a split bath, but never thought about them not having any storage!!!!

About clothing storage, and 11C does not have any drawer space. Just a desk and cabinet for TV. You do have a closet to hang clothing, so bring extra hangers. If not than clothes stay in suitcases.

this is maybe a dumb question but do all DCL GTY bookings say "with restrictions" ? On other cruiselines I have booked a GTY and the 'with restrictions' part was never there on the booking.. Just wondering.. pj:)

No, they don't all say this - the "restricted GTY" is a whole new category that DCL recently implemented. It means you get a GTY for a cabin type - either inside, oceanview or verandah - and while you're guaranteed at least that type of room, you could end up in any category within that type of room. So, instead of having say a Cat 5D GTY, you'll have a verandah GTY and you could get anything from a Cat 6 to a Cat 4.

They are the cheapest rates you'll find, but they come with some heavy restrictions (the toughest being that they are 100% non-refundable and you have to pay 100% up front).

Thanks mousejunkie, I am pretty much Okay with any cabin in the category. We saved a lot of money with this type of booking so I hope it works out for us. The only cabin I wouldn't want, would be a wheelchair accessible one because then we wouldn't get the split bath or a bath at all..I know there aren't supposed to be any changes to this type of booking but I am hoping that if we got assigned that type of cabin, that I could ask to get another.pj:)

HI! We are on the Dream sailing on May 15 and have our room assignment.. hope you get yours too soon! Its nice to know where you will be "living" as soon as possible so you can scope out your surroundings. Like others we were not upgraded but ok with me!

For future reference, how does one make a GTY booking for DCL? We've been booked for our June 7 Dream cruise since bookings opened up (wow, it must be almost two years ago now), and we had our cabin number pretty much immediately. I think we're in a 6B? It's the lowest price verandah category.

I saw that it was offered on the DCL web site when I was checking prices for the cruise. I could have booked it on-line or called DCL to book. I called my travel agent to book. I don't know it they offer GTY on all sailings or in all categories. I just saw it on my cruise in the inside, oceanview and verandah categories. That being said, any other time in the past years when I have decided to book a Disney cruise, I have never seen GTY offered. Maybe it is relatively new to Disney ( other cruise-lines do it ) or maybe it is only offered when a certain percentage of cabins are sold. Perhaps someone else who knows about this can help out here..pj:)

If GTY is available, it will come up on the website as an option. Otherwise, I'd recommend calling the reservation line and telling them you're looking for a GTY (or using a TA).

Is there a thread somewhere that gives a detailed account of what is in each room category (like the fact that 11C's don't have any drawer space). I have looked at the main DCL site and at the specific reviews here on the Disboards, but haven't really found much information. I was really suprised that there was no drawer space in an 11C. We are still GTY at this point, but if we do get an 11C, that part will stink with 3-4 people in a room.

So, I was then wondering what space 11B's have, etc, etc, but I can't seem to find it.

^^ I believe 8184 is one of the extra large cabins/verandahs! I am in 8682 on the May 1st cruise! (The same style cabin on the opposite side of the aft!)

Is anyone else getting obsessive about checking DCL website to see if they got their assignment? I hope it isn't just me. I can't seem to stop myself from looking at least twice a day... pj:surfweb:

That's me too! We don't sail until May 29 so I know it's still too early to be expecting it but 1 person on our cruise thread got her room # about 2 weeks ago for the same category as us.

I am glad I am not alone! I have seen people getting assignments into May and even June so ours can't be too far behind. I am on the 28th sailing of the Magic. I'll post the minute I get mine...pj:):)

Got assignment for May 5 cruise. Booked 11A, got 11A, very happy with our assignment and location of the cabin! :cool1:
