The nearest college to me is 90 minutes away so I'm looking at my online options. I want to get a Master's in Education - specializing in I'm not sure what yet. :) Maybe SPED or counseling, maybe Ed. Leadership or Psychology. Perhaps Reading and Literacy. Who knows.

So have any of you gotten a degree from these two players?

I thought I heard a radio ad for Walden a few months ago and did a double take. Haven't heard it since, so I thought the mind was play tricks. Good to know that it must be out there. However, that's the name of the college in Doonsebury.

I received a Master's in Education with a focus on Literacy from Walden. It was a good program.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask away. I will do my best to answer them.

I need to do more research on their site, but is it accredited in every state? I just want to make sure it's recognized as a Master's program so I'm not wasting my time. Especially since it's worth a nice pay raise!!

A friend of mine got her Master's in Ed from Walden and it was accepted with no problem. She highly recommends it.

I'm looking into Walden to do my EdD. It is a fully accredited university and their doctoral program seems so much more "user friendly" than going through my local university. Each class builds toward your dissertation and they break up their residency requirements into segments throughout the program so that you don't have to take a leave of absence from your job to go complete the residency phase. It is not a cheap or easy program by any means but sounds like it is do-able.

I know this thread is old but I am starting my Master's in Education with a focus on Elementary Reading and Literacy. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this University....

Just a random suggestion from someone who just went through this.... You might look into www.georgiaonmyline.com. They are online programs from universities in Georgia - many of which offer an "e-rate" for their programs. This is where it doesn't matter where you live, everyone pays the same tuition price. I'm starting a program this fall online through Valdosta State University for M.A. for Teacher - Special Education General Curriculum. This particular program is for non-certified people looking to get certified. But they also have other programs for those already certified.

I looked at Jones International University, which a lot of teachers in my area use. The tuition difference was quite significant ($10K+++) to get my master's. Another one used by teachers in my area is Western Governer's University.

Good luck!
