Anyone Game? It’s my Sep 2013 Blog! I'm home; with a TR link in #1189, 10/14

Sure will.

:thumbsup2 Thank you. I'm currently only looking at AA, SouthWest and United. Hopefully, between you and me, we might find something. I suspect that I might have to sit tight and hope for a SW ding on this one.

Yay for booking PIO. Did I read somewhere that you are going to the Grand Canyon? ( wondering if it will coincide with when we are there which will be 26-28Sep)

I haven't totally worked out my road trip yet but I think I will be at the GC a week earlier. I might be in Durango for these dates.

We'll be hoping for a SWA Ding too.

Internet connection is down again.

I actually looked at AA for MCO-LAX. I think we have enough frequent flyer points to swing 3 tickets.

I'll be looking for tix from LA to possible Phoenix and from that area to MCO. Been quite excited by the latest dings of about $70 from LA to Phoenix. Just not in my timeframe......yet.

My Travel Dates

In the happy chicken dancing of this morning, I didn't update you with my travel dates.

I'm now flying out of Melbourne on Friday the 13th September and arriving back into Melbourne airport on Saturday the 12th October.

I still have to confirm my internal travel plans; but at least I have a definite start and a definite finish to this trip.

Oh.....and I've updated the third post in this thread with these details as well as dobbed in some DisNames for the DisMeet.

Still doing the happy dance here! :cheer2:

Try and look at Airtran also, they are owned by Southwest

Awesome! Love that you put it out there and Qantas came through for you. Me? I'm still waiting for Virgin to follow suit. I need the additional baggage allowances we get. You must be happy with 2 x 32kg.

I hope Virgin go on sale soon too.

Between the 3 of us, that will be 6 bags at up to 32 kg per bag. I don't think we'll be using it all up, though. :rotfl:

Just had a look at Qantas baggage limits. I think they have changed. It may work out better for you.

There's a long time between now and September. Baggage allowance can change at any time. :rotfl2:

Happy Australia Day with the Firework Gods

January 26 is the official national day for Australia and commemorates the day in 1788 that the First Fleet of cutthroats, robbers and murderers arrived in Botany Bay, Australia. Of course, James Cook had explored that part of Australia in 1770; so this young country is a little older still.

It is also the Day of Mourning for the Indigenous Aboriginal.

Some six or seven or eight generations later, the descendants and hangers-on of those convicts are celebrating the day all over the country.

Me? As a newcomer to the country, I assimilate where I can.

There are usually parades and concerts and open air festivals in the city gardens and I had every intention of heading in. But I over-extended my left knee in the morning and was left with a rather painful click and a limp. As a result, I missed out on the daytime festivities.

But there was no way DH and I were missing out on yet more fun with the Firework Gods at night.

And.what.fun.it.was. :headache:

We got there early enough and scoped out and then claimed a space as our own. Sadly for us, a film crew came along and commandeered our spot.
It was still early enough for us to get yet another good spot along the Yarra River. This time, we made sure we were right on the banks of the river.

20 minutes from the blast off, a river cruiser came along and docked right where we were. Yes…really! We had to move our legs, which were dangling over the embankment or be crushed.

I think I’m finally resilient to anything those Firework Gods throw at me. This time, I didn’t care about was behind me and shooting laser-eye darts at me. I just moved my camera gear and plonked it down; with bare minutes to spare.

And as always, I was aiming my camera in the wrong direction.

So….here’s what I got. Despite their best efforts to the contrary, I think the Firework Gods and I are working relatively well with each other now.

I still like the fireworks shots even if the fireworks gods made them a little difficult to capture.:thumbsup2
