Some of this reminds me of part of the the Harry Potter tour at Leavesden studios where they showed artist sketches, storyboards, scale models and whiteboard models. Fascinating stuff. I saw this advertised when we were there earlier this year so interesting to see what it was actually about.

Driving the Taxi Driver to the Beach Club



Enjoyable as Disney Quest is for geeks like me, a virtual ride in Agrabah and the environment left me with nausea and a splitting headache. And it took me quite a while to find the boys in those 5 levels. So, by the time I left the air conditioned building and walked into the heat and humidity, I was quite ready to roll over and pass out.



And in the words of Agatha Christie, necessity is not the mother of invention. Invention arises directly from idleness, possibly also from laziness - to save oneself trouble.


So I thought to save myself trouble but really from sheer idleness and laziness, I deemed it necessary to catch a taxi back to the Beach Club.


My taxi driver was an amiable chap. He and I had a reasonable first couple of minute's conversation and discussion about the weather and living in Orlando.
A couple of minutes was all that it took for me to realise that he didn't have a clue about where to go. He took the wrong turn out of Downtown Disney and we ended up circling the DTD hotels. I had to tell him to turn around and head in the right direction.
And he then missed the Epcot Resorts road and kept driving me right to Coronado Springs Resorts.....despite me telling him to turn around.



That'll teach me for taking the lazy way back to the resort in the hopes of saving myself some trouble!



So, after much direction from the driver in the non-driver's side of the taxi, we finally made it back to the Beach Club with over $20 on the meter.





I gave him $10.

So Much for No Park Day - Epcot



The only good thing about the experience was that the taxi driver got my blood pressure going......so much so that my headache and nausea disappeared. I realised that I was hungry and thirsty. Muttering choice words that are non-repeatable on the Dis, I went in search of nourishment.


So much for no park day!








With Australia completely on the other side of the World ( ), I made my way to a Southern Hemisphere neighbour.







Is it cruel to admit that I needed to stab my fork in a decent meatball?








It was very satisfying.







The meatball, that is.





Properly soothed, I went in search of a different kind of experience.








I wish!








I was mindful of the recent headache so I went with the virgin variety. Strawberry slushie in Morocco anyone?








Between the fork in the meatball and the slushie, it was exactly what I needed to calm me right down.








Morocco is one of those pavilions that I've spent rather little time in. So, I was keen to check it out in more detail.







I figured it was time to explore the nooks and crannies of this corner.







Afterall, I had all this time and space to myself.








It was rather charming.








I looked at the merchandise in the Bazaar. Charming, but no sale.







I went in search of some of the locals here. Sadly, it was closed doors!







No amount of rubbing and polishing would bring the Genie out. And I missed Aladdin and Jasmine too!







So I went and explored some more.








Seems like no one was around here this afternoon.








Not that I was complaining. It was fantastic to have the Fes House all to myself. It was an amazing replica and I loved all the mosaics.







At last! I eventually found some locals and enjoyed their hospitality for a bit.

Hopping for a Claw before heading Back Home



With a couple of steps, I moved to a completely different country in a completely different continent.







And with a few more steps, I was somewhere completely different again. I never made it inside for an American Adventure this trip. Next time.








I was really hopping my way here.







Seemed like a great little booth.







You can tell by the queue. It was probably one of the longest queues at any of the food booths I saw on this little walkabout.








This little snack was probably one of the priciest of Food and Wine. It has quite a few fans on the Dis and it was something that I did enjoy in 2010. But on this trip and on this day, the balance was way off. There was too much sauce and the crab claw just seemed a little past the 'freshness' date. It certainly didn't measure up to my memory of this snack this time. I guess you can't win them all.







My watch told me it was time for me to turn around.







To date, it had been a very entertaining day; despite the topsy turvy nature of the day.








We still had the evening to enjoy....and I was hoping it would be one of the real high's of this trip.








Ever the opportunist. I had been pointedly hoping to bump into the Friendship on one of the return walks from Epcot.







It was pulling in just as I got out of the International Gateway.








All aboard!







I thought I was pretty lucky. We had a double crew complement that day. Seems like there were trainee captains on board and there was much to keep me entertained and amused watching them in action.

The DreamWorks exhibitions look very nice and interesting.

Sorry to hear about the taxi driver. It was a good thing that you knew where to head back on the road. This is one reason why I don't like riding on the buses, taxis (except the monorail) and just driving a rental car in Florida.

Nice to hear that you were able to go to EPCOT later that day. Morocco pavilion looks so nice and the food looks so good.

From my personal experience Morocco has always been that little gem in Epcot where I can decompress. I H A T E !!!!!!! (did I put enough emphasis on that?) crowds. So if I need to have a breather and not feel like the world is caving in on me I head to Morocco. It's the perfect place to rest and also enjoy the beautiful sites.

As a Londoner the Taxis in other countries amaze me. Here hackney cab drivers have a very tough test on the knowledge of London roads and it takes years to pass the test. If you go into a black London cab asked for a destination and they didn't know you would think you were in the twilight zone. Our first experience in America was a yellow cab in NY and the driver asking us where the hotel we wanted was! What! We don't know that's what your job is! Lol. But I since found out we are lucky our cab drivers are one of the most knowledgable in the world in fact when I did my psychology degree an experiment revealed that London cab drivers had an enlarged hippocampus. How cool. ( area of the brain that stores memory ) Wow re Morocco in EPCOT what a peaceful little find. Sorry about your headache. When I get migraines I find throwing protein at it helps so yes to the meatballs and drink! I was thinking it must have been like a school at night in Morocco. It looks like Morocco, it feels like it yet nobody is jumping out and asking me to buy their rugs... Next book in Kingdom Keepers series maybe..lol

The exhibit was lovely, seems you got to see some great things, and interesting animations that you can control.

I don't think the $10 included a tip. The meter was running at just over $10 when we passed the traffic lights to the Epcot resort turnoff the FIRST time.

He didn't deserve a tip and I didn't feel guilty not leaving one behind.

We did contemplate renting a car in Florida but we figured we were on holiday. And really....the bus system at WDW is pretty good.

I did enjoy my time in Morocco. I don't know why I haven't spent more time there in the past.

Totally agree. I suspect that I will be heading back to Morocco for decompression time if I ever make it back to WDW.

Morocco did rise up my favourite list after today. I must admit that I really enjoy France and England and Mexico. I usually spend a bit of time in those areas; but I was determined to try something different this time round. Glad I did so.


I don't know which way it was with this taxi driver. He said that he drives more around UO than WDW.

You are very lucky with London cabbies.

Our cabbies in Australia are a mixed bag. There are some really good ones; but there are some really terrible ones around as well. Sometimes we get in cabs where we have to direct them round Melbourne.

First, as a former taxi driver in Boston, I want to assure you that they guy probably felt real bad, and was probably happy that you paid him only 10. As a driver, it is very embarrassing to mess up like that and you feel completely helpless.
