Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

Another great PIO find in the little hidden collection at the Trading Post :thumbsup2

How on earth did you get a photo of those guys if you felt so uncomfortable with them? Was it using your telephoto lens from about 1km away? :rotfl:

Love the lookout you went to. Vermilion Cliffs is definitely on my list, and perhaps Lake Powell will have to be added as well :thumbsup2

OMG that steak was expensive  I hope it was by far the best steak you have ever eaten!

That sounds like a great afternoon (sans the drunk guys). Yeah, "Market Price" can be a scary thing, you definitely have to check because in US speak that means "more than you really want to pay".

Looks like otherwise it was a nice dinner. Your DH got two salads!

The Blair collection looks amazing. I love the details in the rugs, baskets and jewelry.:thumbsup2

So glad you got to finish your unfinished business :goodvibes

It is now my unfinished business :rotfl:

I think it is Antelope Canyon that it in all those pictures flying around the internet. But if it's that crowded, I think I'd prefer to just stick with the owl canyon instead, which I think was just as beautiful. As a photographer though I can see how you would have wanted to capture the light shafts in Antelope.

I agree with Zanzibar - you have added to the list - gee thanks. I think I need one super trip to do the Grand Circle et al as the years are running out. Amazing pics and I also think the owl canyon sounds better but I agree the light shaft shots are worth it. Just totally wonderful.

and Zanzibar has also captured my thoughts..how did you photograph those dudes?? Loved Horseshoe Bend pics and beautiful jewelry and rugs - interesting to see. As a December babe my DD birthstone is turquoise but I rarely see anything that really grabs me made of it to buy her.

That trading post and the upstairs collection was so special, love the bead work and the jewelry.

Those guys are a pretty common appearance, sad but true. even here in the DC are you get a lot of that. Sorry you were uncomfortable.

"Market Price" as Alison stated, is never a good thing...

.....

Apparently, the Mother-In-Law bells were worn to warn the Son-In-Law of the MiL impending arrival. According to Navajo tradition and taboo, the two should never set eyes on each other. I'll leave it to you to ponder the sense of this tradition.
.....

(Continued in Next Post)

Does it work the other way, for MIL's and DIL's too??!.....:lmao::rotfl2:

.

That trading post definitely was a find. I love the jewellery and the rugs are very pretty, too. What a shame about the scary encounter though. I love the artwork at the restaurant, but the cost of the steak made my eyes water.

Corinna

Aside from making my eyes water, the cost of the steak hurt our hip pocket as well! :rotfl:

But it was a lovely steak and I enjoyed every mouthful.

What a find that museum was!

Yes, the trading post was a find! I was so pleased that our host told us about it.

Those guys wanted me to take a picture of them. They kept insisting; which is how I got that shot. They weren't satisfied until I had done so.

That steak? It was pretty good but not the best steak I've eaten.

It was a nice dinner. DH did end up with two salads; but then he ate a lot of salads on this trip.

I think Elijah Blair knew his stuff. It was an amazing collection.

Wendy - If I've added to your list as well, my job is done. :teeth: I think I need one super trip round the Grand Circle myself. Coming back to Sedona and Page made me realise how much I enjoy being in smaller towns with good facilities; and loads of stunning national park/outdoors within striking distance.

Wendy - If you've never been to this part of the world, you and your DD need to head out to this part of the world. The range of turquoise jewellery is stunning.

Thanks Brandi. I think it was more the unexpectedness of it at that particular point. Usually I have the 'radar' out and just avoid or breeze past them.

Yup. I should have asked the price; but it really was a pretty decent steak so it was fine.

But you do live and learn.

:lmao:

I'm sure it would. They are called Mother-in-Law bells. Anyone who hears the bells can use it as a cue to run away. ;)

Oh, I forgot to add that Fran loves Native American Jewelry she has lots of pieces like you showed.

She told me when we were at the BCV. And I immediately thought of her and that trading post. I think she would have LOVED looking at what they had. Did I mention that the collection is up for sale and they have a website? :thumbsup2

Here. to. help. :rolleyes1

Just caught up on your TR PIO

The silver and turquoise collection looks amazing!

I would love to do a driving trip through the Wild West, although I think i'll wait until DS is a bit older so combat the "i'm bored" ;)

Merry Christmas to You

To all my 2D-Friends-In-a-Box. It's officially past midnight and it's Christmas Day in Australia!"

Thank you for your friendship and kindness this year.

OOOoooo! NOW I get it! In "the box"! Out of "the box"!

Thank you and Happy Holidays to you!

Our summer goal this year is to get the boat and ourselves to Lake Powell and Page. :thumbsup2 Beach camping without cell service. Sounds amazing.

Utah looks pretty in your pictures.

Love the jewelry and rugs. That belt on the emerald shirt is gorgeous. Looks heavy too. How very cool you got to meet the owner/collector.

Market Price is the kiss of death. Looks like a perfectly cooked steak though. :cloud9:

I'm so glad I realized I missed an update, Antelope Canyon looked AMAZING!!! Boo on those rude people. I find it amazing how entitled some people can act.

And what a fabulous find with the trading post. The craftsmanship on those pieces is gorgeous.

Oops, I forgot to comment on Horseshoe Bend, breathtaking photos! Kudos for risking the camera, I'm so nervous when I put mine over nothing and yours is a lot pricier than mine!

Very Cool, I love the silver and turquoise together, and not the shinny polished silver, but the blackened look (which I am sure has a name....)

Thanks Bec. I did the same. DS was 13 on this trip and I figured it was time. I don't think you're that far away. :thumbsup2

Thanks Pam. I don't know about entitled people....it is a matter of perspective, right? From their viewpoint, I guess they would be wondering why we are "entitled" to have the passage blocked. ;)

Perhaps you mean tarnished silver?
