Anyone for HHI 2011? Roll call time!

Please add us, August 22-27--2 bedroom on cash(no points left). I am hoping we will fall in love with HHI and DH will be convinced to add on.;)
I read about people getting good cash rates, the best I could do was $350/night:scared1: Anyone do better?
Just got back from BWV and now planning for the summer trip.
Anyone have an activities sheet from last summer?
Do you think we will still be able to get into some of the activities when we don't arrive "till Monday? We want to do the dolphin and kayaking outings for sure.
Any more info. would be helpful:love:

I know this isn't the countdown thread, but we'll be starting our drive to HHI 3 weeks from today!! :cool1:

I think you're right. We check in on Monday and check-out on Friday! This will be our very first trip to HHI, and I know that you are a true Veteran of the resort!:worship:

Now I think I have it thru 4/5. Nancy, thanks for letting me know-sorry I forgot you before, but I think you're there now.

1st time trip coming up, 4/24 - 4/30, 2BR - week after Easter.

Anyone there last year for the week after Easter? Extremely crowded like the parks?

Tell me about the grills - location, gas, utensils...

Dolphin Tour - is there a certain time of year this is better than others? Is there anytime it's not worth it because you probably won't see any? I see it's on a creek. How is the water? Rough at all?

Are there different tours to consider, or just the dolphin one listed at the resort activites? I'm wondering if there are any better than others?

The snack restaurants at the Beach House say open seasonally. Will this week be seasonally?

Lastly (I think) we get 1 dinner date night (no kids). What's your favorite date restaurants?

okay, I lied, are there any chain restaurants close to resort? My DD has food allergies so the chains usually are better dealing with this.

Thanks SO much. Sorry for the overload on questions.;)

We'll also be there the week after Easter, and although we've never been there before, it shouldn't be too crowded (that's according to the lady I talked with on the phone at Palmetto Dunes this morning).
All I know about the snack resturant at the Beach House is that it's always been open when we've been there, in February and November, so I'd assume it would be open in April.
Although we haven't done many "fancy" resturants, Old Fort Pub has a great reputation, as does Redfish. For chain resturants, Arby's is down the street, and IHOP is a few miles the other way. I can't think of any others.
We've seen Dolphins on tour in February, but it' more fun when we see them "in the wild" at the ocean in front of the Beach House or in the inlet next to the main lodge.

Oops-I almost forgot about grills. I know there are grills in back of the main lodge and also way down by Building 31. There are probably others. I remember asking the people grilling by the lodge, they'd gotten utensils from the front desk.
See ya there!

Dolphin Tour - is there a certain time of year this is better than others? Is there anytime it's not worth it because you probably won't see any? I see it's on a creek. How is the water? Rough at all? Our guide said that in the 15 years he's been doing the tours, he's only been "shut out" twice. Both the guide and the staff at the recreation desk said that the dolphins are always around so they didn't really recommend a "good" time. The water in the creek is supposed to be a "no wake" zone, although there is no enforcement. For the most part, there are no waves to speak of and it is fairly smooth sailing.

The snack restaurants at the Beach House say open seasonally. Will this week be seasonally? The restaurant at the Beach House was open every day that we were here this week, but it closes at 4pm. No mug refills or food available after that, which really stinks since the beach house is open until 8pm:confused3. The pool bar at the beach house has been open until 6pm each day this week too.

That's the only help I can be for you. I can't comment on the restaurants since we ate almost every meal in our villa.

We'll be at HHI Sunday, May 8 through Saturday, May 14 for our daughter's wedding. It will be a first time visit to South Carolina for everyone. The bride's family will have a grand villa and the groom's family will have a 2 bedroom. The total group is 16 adults from age 23 to 74. With some people coming late and others leaving early, at times our group will be as small as 11.

The wedding will be Thursday, May 12 at the Haig Point lighthouse on Daufuskie Island. We're looking for recommendations for large group activities throughout the week.

Some of our ideas so far:

1. Comedy Club on Tuesday night to celebrate the bride's mother's birthday.
2. Vagabond Sunset Dinner Cruise on Wednesday night for the rehearsal dinner.
3. horseback riding at Lawton stables, reserving the carriage for the older folks
4. charter fishing, haven't found anything online for a group our size
5. mini-golf
6. golf -- any place good for a large group of folks, most of who have never golfed?

Please share any feedback you have on any of these experiences. Also, any different suggestions for the reheasal dinner? What about for our arrival evening which is Mother's Day?

Thanks!!!

My family and I are going July 9-16, 2011. We can't wait and are counting down the days.

I need another Salty Dog t-shirt!:hippie:

My wife and I along with our three children and a niece and nephew will be there June 19-23rd.

Hey simbas mom! Looks like you are heading to hhi real soon!

Friday morning-can't wait! I'll probably get to do one more update before we go. Last I checked, they were predicting rain for Easter Sunday, also the last day of the PGA tournament, so I hope that changes.

Booked Oct. 2-7th today! Might add the 8th to the reservation. I'm so excited - even though it's still nearly 6 months away!

No one's made reservations for HHI in the last couple weeks?
