Anyone for HHI 2011? Roll call time!

Our 30 day mark for ROFR expires this coming Friday, so I really hope by this time next week we will know if we are going to be OWNERS at Hilton Head of not!

We are SO ready to send in payment, we really hope we are given the chance to do that! :goodvibes

We tried to get into HHI this coming summer and everything is booked up, so we decided to buy. As I have posted before, we are looking for a place that we can just go and spend time relaxing, reading, cooking, and just unwinding!

I've already told my wife there is a hammock there waiting on her!

We are so excited!

Tell me all the great things or hidden secrets about Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort!!!!!!

Tell me all the great things or hidden secrets about Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort!!!!!!

I hope everything works out for you. I think Disney has done a fantastic job with their HHI DVC property.
After visiting Hilton Head in 1978 I decided I wanted to live here.
It's been 20 years since I made the move and love every day on the island.
I think you've made a super choice and I hope you're as delighted as I am today when you visit your home away from home.

And don't you live near one of the golf courses, if I remember? I'm just curious, how is living there during summer tourist season? We talked to an islander once who was bicycling on a bike path and met a small car of tourists coming the other way. That's the one story that made DH vow to visit HHI only off-season. Off-seasom, we agree-living there sounds wonderful!

Our first trip to the Atlantic Ocean! Can't wait to discover HHI. The weather should be perfect for bike riding. :)

Same here but our dates for a 2BR are either:

October 1 (Sat - cash), 2-6 (Sun-Thurs,points)
OR
October 2-6 (Sun-Thurs,points), 7 ( Fri - cash)

Waiting (im)patiently for March 1.

Any thoughts on the above since Columbus Day Weekend starts on the 7th?

Secured our ressie today for Oct 2nd to 7th (leaving late that day). We are so happy to be staying in a 2BR Dedicated. I requested Marsh view by the pool. So happy we are going back. We stayed overnight last October for a night and were sold on going back.

We will also be there 3/13 - 3/18 :cool1: We went this same time last year and loved it! We are also from Birmingham, AL!

doing a disney cruise from 3/20-3/24 then driving to Hilton Head and will stay there from 3/24-3/28.

Will be our second trip to Hilton Head and we can hardly wait!

we'll be trying for a 1 bdrm or studio for October 16-21. Just counting down the days till my 7 month window open ups and hoping for some good luck.

Well, folks - tomorrow is the day that we either DO or DO NOT become HHI Owners. The 30 days of our ROFR period ends tomorrow - SO, we either find out tomorrow - or we go to closing!

I'm REALLY hoping that we hear first thing tomorrow morning - that way we'll have something EXCITING to make Friday EVEN BETTER! :woohoo:

I really hope I can post a  and not a :sad2: tomorrow night!

Fingers Crossed here! :hippie:

We'll be there for our second visit 5/1-5/7. Our first trip was fantastic; we fell in love with HHI. This trip we'll be celebrating our 27th anniversary!

Yay! I'd love to get your opinion because you're from my hometown and we'd have the same reference point. Since you were there this time last year, can you give me some ideas on what clothing to pack and activities to do? We're planning to drive, bringing three of our bicycles (I want to rent a beach cruiser), hubby wants to golf at least twice, day trip to Savannah (ghost tour), kayak, ???

We can move this particular discussion to a more appropriate post.

Thanks!

I would avoid Savannah between 3/16 and 3/18. Unless you like huge crowds of drunken folks who think they are Irish, you won't have a good time. The parade is ok, but, afterwards...

Kayaking! I love it!

Weather was pretty decent last year sunny and in the 60's (cool in the morning and evening) mostly wore jeans, capris, t-shirts, with a sweat shirt or light jacket. When you are in the sun it feels quite warm with those temps, but get int he shade and it is chilly. My kids actually wore shorts and t-shirts. Kids used the pool a lot, it is heated. We rented bikes and rode on the beach daily, did the dolphin tour (excellent), did the kayaking tour (enjoyed it too). Planned on going to Savannah, but it rained that day so went to the outlet mall instead. We are planning on going to Savannah this time, but avoiding St. Patrick's Day. Also did a lot of activities at the resort. I hope to come up with an itinerary this weekend and I will be more than happy to share.

LOL...I hear you. My hubby is from New Orleans and he hates Mardi Gras for the same reason...drunken folks! Maybe we'll save Savannah for another visit. :)

PERFECT! I was hoping for that kind of weather so that we can ride bikes comfortably, wear jeans or capris, and a light jacket. I hate hot, muggy weather. I'd love to see your itinerary. Also, is there a building you'd recommend or advice against? Thanks again for your answers. I'm so excited about the trip!:cool1:

... how is living there during summer tourist season?

Hi,
The island does get busy in the Summer and during Spring Break but I don't mind. It is nothing like Cape Cod. The visitors to the island really boost the local economy and I'm grateful. I have experienced folks driving on the wrong side of the road and even taking the traffic circles in the opposite direction. No doubt that it's scary but it only happens when the island is full of visitors. I haven't been run over yet. ;)

Comparing it to Cape Cod was perfect for me-I used to summer at Cape Cod. I'm glad to hear it's not as bad as that-that used to get crazy. Thanks so much for your response.

It didn't happen first thing this morning - and it didn't happen this afternoon - but IT DID HAPPEN THIS EVENING!!!!!

We found out around 5:00pm that we have indeed passed ROFR - and we will now close in about 60 days - and then we will be HHI Owners!!! We are SOOOOO excited!!!!!! :goodvibes

We are getting almost 500 points combo or points from last year and points from this year - so we are going to try our best to go for a week early this Fall. We plan to use our points in the future during the very low season as I've posted before - we just want a place to go relax, have a good time, and have some fun!!!

So glad we found out today - day 30 of the ROFR process!
