Anyone for HHI 2011? Roll call time!

Set for June 25 to July 1 in a 1 bdr. Will be our second trip and hopefully turns into an annual. Family loved 1st trip last summer!

When we first bought our DVC, we bought HHI...with the intention that we would never stay there. Background.....9-11 happened and we were to go to New Orleans for vacation. THe Philadelphia airport had reopened however; Lousiana was still closed. My husband was a Tastykake route owner and he hired someone to run his route so, he was not able to change his dates. I went home, got the mail and there was a postcard from DVC HHI saying stay 3 nights get 4th free with tour. I went into the house, called the number, asked if they had anything for check in tomorrow, they said yes and we left.

Now, I always wanted to buy DVC from our DW trips however; hubby wouldn't budge. As we went on the above tour with no kids, we were bored. If was off season...we don't golf etc. So, we do tour, he is conviced to buy and we have the choice of HHI or VWL which they were selling. I ask guide what is the difference, he tells me taxes are cheaper at HHI. We buy 150 points at HHI with the intent to never use them. A few years later, after spending large amounts of money to go to Ocean City, Maryland for a few years in a row, I tell hubby....why don't we try HHI again so, we don't have to pay. Off we go..............HEAVEN is all I can say. Different experience with the kids, totally loved it.

I have since done a HHI add on and did buy those VWL points after all. I am SOOOO glad that the bulk of my points are at HHI....it is really the only way to guarantee a room. I have always been able to get a room at WDW at the 7 month window, usually the choice of locations (unless I book VWL). So, although I didn't buy where I wanted to stay.....it sure all worked out for us!

Thanks Simba's mum........guess we'll both find out what April is like this year!! Fingers crossed for some lovely warm temperatures!!!!

We are staying in a 2 bed for the first time on this trip love.......and the 1 bed we were in was in the main building with a view of a courtyard (not great!!). Can anyone tell me where the 2 beds are located?

On a completely different note, does anyone have an e-mail address for the resort? Thanks!

Did I mention what a good sister I've been this year? Not only did I spring for the GV ( and the two studios and two bedroom ) ... I'm taking her on the Member's Cruise in a Cat 5 stateroom in '11 too.

We just added on at HHI last year - we fell in love with the place and wanted to be sure we could go every summer! Going to be there over Memorial day -
May 28-June 2!

I had previously posted that we would be there Oct. 1-5 but waitlisted for June. I just cancelled the waitlist since I will be going to WDW that month to celebrate my 40th birthday. We will definitely be in Hilton Head in October.

Same here but our dates for a 2BR are either:

October 1 (Sat - cash), 2-6 (Sun-Thurs,points)
OR
October 2-6 (Sun-Thurs,points), 7 ( Fri - cash)

Waiting (im)patiently for March 1.

Any thoughts on the above since Columbus Day Weekend starts on the 7th?

Well, I was on the phone at 9:02am, exactly 7 months out, and there were no rooms to be had. So now we're wait listed. Boo-hoo. Guess we'll see if it pans out.

We are excited for our first trip to HHI. We have a 2bd for 8/6/11-8/13/11. My family of 4 plus my parents. My boys are really looking forward to the ocean and digging in the sand. My husband tends to need to keep moving, so hoping there will be enough activities and entertainment to keep him from getting bored. What are some of your favorite activities? Is it expensive to rent things from the resort?

I do have one big question for you related to the fact that we are going to fly instead of drive down. I think we are going to spend 1 night on each end in Charleston. What do we do about the fact that we won't have any of the typical beach supplies - chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards? What else will we need? Has anyone else flown and what do you do? IS it going to cost us a fortune to rent all of this stuff?
