I'm trying to just get an idea of what the flight prices may be next September by getting and idea of what people paid to fly this September.

Either EWR to MCO
PHL to MCO
or ABE to SFB (Sanford/Orlando)

We flew SW out of PHL in April this year and only paid $69/pp each way. No luggage fees either. The seating was a little squished on the flight, but I would do it again if it meant saving a ton of money like we did.

Continental has some decent fares for that time out of EWR, but they also charge you for your luggage. :sad2: I REFUSE to pay for luggage if I don't have to.

Just looking for some input. Thanks!

I guess close enough....I flew out of PHL to MCO 10/3-10/11 and I paid $64 down (southwest) and $55 back Airtran). After fees it was less than $150 RT.

I also flew PHL to MCO 8/21-8/25 and paid $64 both ways on those flights (Southwest).

I saw many $64 fares throughout September from PHL on Southwest.

Wow, that's great! Thanks for the info. Hopefully we'll get this lucky with airfare next year. We are a family of four, so it can getty pretty expensive flying if you don't shop around. DH wasn't crazy about the SW seating, but the customer service was great on the flight so it was very bearable. Did you like AirTran?

I am pretty indifferent between Airtran and Southwest. I usually just fly whoever is cheaper and has the times I like.

Southwest is a much better cancellation/change policy. I also like that their schedule is pretty set and won't change once it is released. I also think they have better times and more non stop flights out of PHL. Some of their planes are OLD though and I really hated the cattle call boarding. It is much better though now that they use the numbers.

Airtran has newer planes. I LOVE that they participate in the resort check in. Their phone customer service is very good. They do tend to change their flight times a lot and cancel flights a lot too. Usually later in the day flights but it happens all the time and drives you crazy.

Price being the same, I would probably give an edge to Southwest, but I am pretty much choose whoever is cheaper.

We paid $64 each way for flights from PHL to MCO this past September. We paid $89 each way for the same flight mid-January (coming up). Seems like things are going up a bit, but we have still been able to find great deals on Southwest!

We flew SWA PHL-MCO for $64 each way. I wasn't even really looking to book a trip but it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Dh couldn't come so only 3 tix to buy. We went over Labor Day weekend Fri-Tues and again over Jewish holidays Fri-Wed.
I doubt we'll ever see prices like that again so might as well enjoy it while we can.

We got the $64 fare for our departing flight Fri before Thanksgiving by some miracle. Of course the return flight was $235 but it's the Sat after TG so I knew there wouldn't be any deals there.
Still beats driving any day. :goodvibes

Sept is a great time to go. We've gone in 07 and 06 too. Only $49 or $39 then on SWA!! :worship:

Sept 13-20, 2008
PHL-MCO
Airtran
$79 each
Booked in April

Had a great flight down and back, although delayed 45 min returning because Philly was backed up(they knew in advance and we boarded the plane 45 minutes late so that we weren't stuck at the gate already on the plane).

Those are great prices. We always fly USAir from ABE to MCO but pay anywhere from $180-$225. I got a fare of $179 from ABE to MCO for December, on United. I'm only 15 min. from ABE (75 min. from PHL or EWR) so to me it's worth it to pay a little extra for the convenience of getting there & home much quicker.

With one weeks notice, my DW and I flew from PHL to MCO on 9/7 and returned on 9/9 for less than $150 round trip. It was very affordable, specially seven days out.

We found out why when we got here - the place was deserted! We landed at MCO at 2 pm, grabbed our rental, went straight to MK, rode Splash Mountain, buzz 2 times, drove to Epcot, rode Test Track twice and had dinner at Mexico, and walked around the world during Illuminations. It was fantastic!

Oh -- one other point. Airtran is now a daily non-stop to MCO from Harrisburg, Pa. It might be worth looking at, based on your location.

We flew PHL-MCO 9/25 to 9/29 on Air Tran.

The cost of the flight was $64 each way, but I booked the flight on May 10th, when the had a special promotion which offered $25 off any flight. I had to book the tickets as separate one-trips, but the total for both flights ended up as $99 with all taxes and fees.

I prefer to use Southwest when flying out of Philly. Less schedule changes, comparable fares to airtran, and better service. Only drawback in Philly is that the southwest terminal is very old, and far from everything else in the airport. Always good deals to MCO if you watch for them. Sign up for DING for daily updates.

me too 64.00 ea way in sept.

I had originally had spirit air booked for really cheep but then they started nickle and diming me to death and changing my flight times so I got my $$ back form them and flew sw I loved SW!

Allentown will not take you to MCO, but to Sanford airport. SO no Magical Express.
We live so close to Allentown airport that the planes fly right over our backyard and we often wave because we know the people can see us! Unfortunately, we have to go to Philly and we got $63.00 each way for December with Airtran!

I think Harrisburg would be just too far. I'd probably spend the savings on airfare in gas! (I'm in the poconos)But thank you for the information. :thumbsup2

This isn't true. While Allegiant flies from ABE to Sanford, there are other airlines that do fly into MCO, albeit taking the "scenic" route

Hey Tara,

Since when is the Lehigh Valley only 15 min from MCO. Hmm, maybe I can get that job with that car service :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

OMG what was I typing?!?!? I will go change that now....so how are ya?? Still running the PA/FL route with you-know-who? Actually, has anyone used them lately? I'm heading down in 5 weeks with a GF & we have no ME (Dolphin), so it's THEM or a taxi...

We've always flown ABE to MCO - not Sanford - did you mean direct flights? I don't think ABE currently has any direct flights to MCO, but there are at least 4 carriers that will get you there via Philly, EWR, Cleveland, Pitt, Chicago or Charlotte.

We normally fly out of ABE but this past September, we flew out of Philly. Flying out of Philly saved us over $450.00 this year. We paid 64 down on SW and $89 back on USAir. DH was so upset with having to pay for luggage and sodas on USAir he told me next time just book either SW or Airtran.

We will be going to Disney next September (bounce back booked) so I am already looking into airfare.

I think Santa might leave SW gift cards in our stocking this year.
