a glitch that the deposits went out early?

It was me that posted my conversation with the IRS.

I was told that the dates that are posted were posted incorrectly.

So I am hoping that it was be there this afternoon or by Friday.

I filed on the 18th and received my direct deposit this morning.

I filed on January 17th and I am still waiting.

I used Taxact, when I first filed they gave me a date of 2/6 as my deposit date, today I went to the IRS website and they gave me a date of 1/30...

Well that doesn't make sense since some people have gotten their deposits today.

But, the IRS typically doesn't know what they are talking about when you get them on the phone (if anyone remembers the whole ordeal with the Stimulus and TT filers who paid for their preparation out of their refund).

SueH, I believe you called the Irs but maybe you got someone who had no idea what they were talking about. I believe if it was a glitch they would have got it fixed by now on there end

My dh just waited on hold for 45 minutes and spoke with 2 people. It was a computer glitch and the lady he spoke with had several calls about the same thing. They are working on fixing it, but had no time frame for when it would be updated correctly. She checked our refund status for us and originally we were in the batch that said Feb 3rd. Today she said it will be in our bank by the 6th. I really think there is no rhyme or reason since ours was accepted on the 18th, and based on their schedule,we should get it on the 30th.

I would think it woud be the 30th. The IRS doesn't know there head from a hole in the ground

Up until the morning my status was that I should recieve my refund by Feb 3rd. So this morning when I checked I was surprised that it said that it was dd on 1/26 and should be there today. When it wasn't in my account I was concerned.

I don't believe that they know theri @#$# from their elbow. She wasn't too helpful. She just kept repeating that it was an error and that she was sorry. She couldn't give me any other information on my refund.

It is strange that some are receiving their refunds today. I know that it varies by banks. Even though the IRS releases the refunds on thier ends the bank can sometimes hold it for a few extra days.

I too am holding out hope that by some miracle that it shows up today in my account. If not then I am hoping for Friday.

We have plans for that money and it would make our lives a little less hectic if we got the money early. We have many errands to do on Friday with that money, it would be nice if we could get a couple done today or tomorrow. Ah, well.

I was informed that nothing was actually accepted until the 16th or 18th or something like that, therefore it wouldn't matter if you filed on the 1st or the 15th, your return still will be processed at the same time.

I doubt very seriously they are stopping deposits, it's probably not even an IRS issue. As others have stated, different banks handle things differently. Many hold things several days before depositing them into your account, others, like mine, deposit immediately upon receipt.

My bank deposits things right away as well. I called my bank and they have no record of any DD for today, nor do they show anything pending for tomorrow.

After being on hold for what seemed like forever. Talkng to the three different people. I was told that no one has got there money from the IRS. There was a glitch and that everyone that got that message today should have there money by Friday.

So who knows the truth. I guess it lies someone in bewteen.

I am freaking out becuase mine says it was dd on 1/23 and it should be in my account today but it's not there and the bank isn't open yet.

Mine says it was DD on the 23rd as well, but that it may not show up in my account till the 28th. While I know it is the 28th, it still may not "post" till over night, so Im not going to panic just yet Oh and I have seen in some very rare occassions, that things will "show up" after 11am....so Id keep that in mind as well.

I just went on the IRS site and it says "your tax refund was direct deposited on January 23, 2009" Hmmmmm, hopefully it hits today!!

Add me to the list that says my dd would be done on January 23, 2009 and I don't have it yet. The IRS schedule shows the first date for refunds is January 30, 2009. I'm waiting until Friday before I panic.

I did not get an email, but I went to the irs site. It states mine was deposited on 1/23/09- but then says it may of been a reduced amount. Though it does not tell me what that reduced amount was??????

Anyhow, my original deposit date was 1/30. I guess I'll give it until then.
