Anyone famous in your family?

My husband's grandfather (A.A. Meredith) has a lake named after him: Lake Meredith near Borger, TX.

My FIL thinks he is famous. He was on Access Hollywood last Friday for all of 5 seconds standing next to Donald Trump at the unveiling of one of the projects he is doing with Trump.

And MIL was on that old show Hawaii Five-O a couple of times. She thinks she famous cause Trump said she was hot.

Anyone in your family have a spotlight...no matter how small.....even a 15 seconds of fame sort of person?

On Dad's side: My distant cousins are the Stamps Quartet-a famous Gospel band. Elvis Presley was a big fan of them. I think that an ancestoral grandfather was a famous preacher in the Arkansas-Texas region. I am also related to the Earl of Clarendon, and one of the six wives of Henry VIII.

Mom's side: My great-grandmum (by spirit, not by blood) was a Howard, so I suspect that I *might* be related to the Howard family-holders of the premier dukedom, that of Norfolk, in England's peerage. A cousin of her is also in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame located in Waco, TX. He was a really talented basketball player who played for Texas Tech.

Biologically speaking-unfortunately, I don't know, but I'd really would like to find out someday.

Speaking of famous preachers do you know that Aaron Burr was a maternal grandson of Jonathan Edwards?

My wife's family are direct decendants of pocohantas. We traced my lineage back to a great, great, etc... grandfather who was on one of the ships that sailed with the mayflower to america. Could potentially be some past generation inbreeding in this family. :sad2:

She also traced us to Sir Frances Drake- but only as a step situation. She also bragged that we are related to someone who served under Washington in the Revolutionary War. We are also related to John Brown, which horrified her.

Hey! We must be somewhat related, too. I don't know the exact connection, but I am somehow related to Sir Francis Drake through my dad's side of the family. :)

Somehow Johnny Van Der Meer was in the family-he threw 2 back to back no hitters a loooong time ago.
I think it was something like my great uncles brother in law.

My Uncle Genie was not famous, really-but if you were a pilot that needed to get out of a plane fast, you'd owe him. LOL He invented the ejection seat.

Here's a blurb about him from a website:

When planes were slow it was easy to jump out in case of emergency. But when fast props and jets came along exit was frequently followed by a fatal collision with the tail or engine. Attempted solutions tended to be fatal. Gino Santi invented the pilot ejection seat. By rocketing the pilot out of the canopy and harm’s way, his invention saved thousands of lives. He even designed seats that could safely eject a pilot from a plane that was still on the ground. His designs became standard in all America’s fighter planes. One of his inventions went on to become the air bag, now standard equipment in automobiles. An inveterate tinkerer, Santi also came up with an early version of the automatic dishwasher, which his wife uses to this day. Gino Santi died April 9, age 81.

A very small claim to fame and only if you are into landscape art. The painter George Inness was a distant uncle.

Jesse James is a distant cousin. There's even a large rock called the "money rock" where I'm from that he wrote all over and supposedly hid money at. My brother used to go hiking up to where it is when we were growing up. It's in the middle of nowhere. I have seen it. It's pretty cool.

Proud mom rant: When my oldest son was in the sixth grade, he had one of his poems published in a children's poetry compilation. Kids from all over the nation contributed. My son's poem was about the 9/11 attacks. Needless to say, I am very proud of his "famous" moment.

My dad is a drummer and drummed with REO Speedwagon back in the early early days. That is about as close as I get. :rotfl:

Mom's cousin apparantly still holds some records at Texas Tech:

Conference Single Game Individual Records

He is Dub Malaise if any Red Raiders are reading this, and he and his wife are Realtors.

He was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 1980.

Well I just posted this in another thread but my first cousin is married to an actor named Patrick Cronin, he's not famous per se but has guest starred in LOTS of tv shows (comedies and dramas) and a few movies, including Rocky V and Splash. You may know him best, however, as the "bro" salesman on Seinfeld. :p My cousin is definately not star struck by him, but I certainly am! :teeth: He and I have had many conversations about show biz. :p
