Anyone famous in your family?

Elizabeth had a brother Andrew Shue and he is a hockey nut, is it the same one?

Wow! LOTS of people have PM'd me asking if the hockey dad is Andrew Shue!

Alas, it is not. It is her brother Bill who is not nearly as cute (don't tell him I said that!). I think she has another brother and maybe a sister as well. I've met Elisabeth's mother, but I've never met her or Andrew. It would be great if they would come to a game sometime! I do know that Elisabeth has a son named Miles who was there once with the grandma. I had no idea that he was Elisabeth's son though at the time I saw him.

Well, I've got two: The first is my great, great, great, great grandfather
(I think I have the right number of "great"), Lapu Lapu. He was a filipino warrior that is known for killing Magellan. The other is on Extreme House Makeover.

Oooo, who are you related to on Extreme House Makeover?! I love that show.

I have an infamous distant relative who was one of the ringleaders of the Haymarket Riots as well as a famous cousin, Peter Taglianetti (the announcers never managed to pronounce that correctly), who played in the NHL.

My cousin is one of the founders of one of the very top Internet companies, one that you all frequently use. He's absolutely filthy rich (several billion), although it's all on paper because he rarely cashes in any of his shares. I haven't shared in it unfortunately, but it does give me something to talk about at parties. And how can you put a price on that?

My mom is a geneaology nut. She traced our family back. William Brewster, of the Mayflower, is my 15th great grandfather. Pretty cool:)

We must be related then!!! My great Aunt is a geneology nut as well and she traced our family to Elder William Brewster- he was a religious big wig in Puritain world!

She also traced us to Sir Frances Drake- but only as a step situation. She also bragged that we are related to someone who served under Washington in the Revolutionary War. We are also related to John Brown, which horrified her.

A great great uncle rode with Jesse James (Frank Moore) and my best friend was related to the Younger Brothers!! We were fated to be best friends!

I am related to another Frank Moore played the Lone Ranger on Radio. I am not sure that I have any relation to Clayton Moore who played him on TV.

Another friend is Derek Lowe's cousin and I went to high school with Derek. I could not stand him, and I have to live with the fact that on top of the millions he makes, he helped break the Boston curse and pitched the World Series game winner.

John Hancock is my great-great-great, etc. uncle.

When my cousin traced our lineage at the University of Moncton, New Brunswick with a professor of his, they traced it back to somewhere in 1200 at which point they say that if a certain person existed (they can't confirm that they did or not), then our family goes back to the family of Jesus. If they don't exist, then we don't.

Microcell, where in Missouri are you? You can pm me if you want. My mom is from Missouri...little tiny town called Shelbyville. Near Palmyra. The place is crawling with your relatives :earboy2:

Nice to meet you, cuz

My DH's uncles girlfriends sister was married to Ted Knight of Mary Tyler Moore fame...wow that's a mouthful.

DH has played at Carnigie Hall.

I also have a relative who went over Niagara Falls in a barrel. (this explains the gene pool we swim in!)

My brother is a DJ on 100.9 FM in Albany NY.

Colleen :fish:

A relative on my husbands side was a famous actor/director in the early days of television.

I've been on TV.. for school and other stuff (but that doesn't count!)

Well my son was prominantly featured in a fundraising brochure for a human service agency here in my town. And they have used video of him with his inhome trainer to train other trainers and to raise funds. I think that's kinda cool! My brother in law and my sister both tried to make it to the Olympics. And I have a dear friend who was on the Maury show and Who wants to be a millionaire!

Oh and in my fantasy life I'm married to Viggo Mortenson!

My cousin Kim was in the movie BIG with Tom Hanks. She was the girl that Tom Hanks character wanted to get BIG for. She also did MANY commercials. One being Kix cereal. She worked for them for several years.
I was in the movie Eddie and the Cruisers. You can barely see me, it is a crowd scene outside the school, I am the blonde with a pink shirt.

My maiden name is Conway. The most famous thing I can claim, is we are somehow connected to Conway, SC.

But, my closest friend is the brother to Steve Smith, who used to be the drummer in the band Journey.

My hubby was in a movie with Sean Penn, Tom Hanks, Timothy Hutton, and George C. Scott.

It was the movie Taps. The movie was filmed at Valley Forge Military School when he was a cadet there.

In the opening parade scene, he's driving the 3rd Jeep. He's also in the church service shot as well.

I'm somehow related to William Barret Travis, from the Alamo.

I've got one....

Does anyone remember the Levy's Jewish Rye Bread commercials, you know the ones where they have someone taking a bite out of a sandwich and says "You don't have to be Jewish to love Levy's Jewish Rye." ??

Well, the chinese man was my paternal grandfather. (He passed away in 1996 - wow come to think of it it was exactly 9 years ago today.) Anyway, here is a link to a webpage that has the ad. Hope this works.

My maternal Grandmother was first cousin to a member of the Three Stooges. I always forget which one. I should go back and check. I'm thinking it was Joe.

My mother went to school with Chubbie Checker (they rode the bus together) and Fabian (he used to dance on top of a milk crate). My dad lived next door to Joey Bishop (his parents ran a bicycle shop out of the house) and my cousin bought David Brenner's house years, and years ago.

For those familiar with the Philadelphia area...my brother was on Captain Noah back in the 70's (Captain Noah was CREEPIE!)

I am related to Andrew Jackson way back. Still the same last name.

My 9th generation great Aunt was Anne Dudley Bradstreet (1st American Female Poet). Her father was the 2nd Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

I'm the first generation to not grow up in Massachusetts!

Ok, this wasn't very interesting but I thought I'd throw this info. out there! :earboy2:

hmmmm both the ones i can think of are fotball related:) and i really dont like football,,, is distantly related to Paul Bear Bryant,, and to early nfl star Clark Jordan.
