My in-laws will be flying to Raleigh-Durham, NC in November out of Bradley. My aunt mentioned to them that Independence Airlines will be flying from Hartford by then, but what kind of an airline is Independence Airline? Anyone flown them yet?

It's a new airline. I believe it's a spin off of United (or a combination of several airlines), but not to be confused with TED which is United low fare carrier. You can go to their website flyi.com and check them out. They are based in Dulles airport, VA. So far there are no flights to MCO or I would be trying them. They are a smaller plane, I believe seats 50.

Independence is the new name for Atlantic Coast Airlines who has been flying as United Express for years. Currently they fly 50 pass. CRJs. They will be flying some routes to FL and the west coast with Airbus A-319s toward the end of the year. Those planes will have leather seats, and 20 channel satellite tvs.

When I worked for United, I flew Atlantic Coast from Chicago to Jacksonville on a CRJ (regional jet) and had a great flight. I'm looking forward to flying them from MCO to WV when they start flying into FL. The price from Jacksonville to Charleston WV is already 200 cheaper on independence than united.
