Hubby and I were a bit disappointed when our vacation fund came up a bit short this year due to taxes. So we decided to save some cash, we were going to stay at KOA Kabins at both Williamsburg and Carowinds Resorts. Anyone have any experience with them?

I've stayed in KOA campgrounds but not the cabins

Never stayed in them, but they look adorable!!

Of course this is coming from a woman who wants to be "Laura Ingalls" when she grows up - LOL!!!!:teeth:

That's it! I'm putting my coffee cup down and stepping away from the monitor......................................:rotfl:

We stayed at KOA in Cherokee NC eons ago, and we were sorely disappointed! From then on out we stayed in log cabins and were very happy.:sunny:
BTW these log cabins were the SAME price as KOA and much NICER!!! We are in GA and TN. I don't know if this makes a difference.:wave2:

We stayed in the Williamsburg cabins last summer for 3 nights. Small, cleanish, spartan. Nice decks. I'd do it again. Have fun!

In Dec 2002, we got off to a late start when leaving FW due to "technical difficulties" (our camper is a HiLo and there was a problem with the mechanism that raises/lowers the camper). I didn't want to have to fight it on our stop over night on the way home so I called about the cottages. I made it clear to them that I didn't want to need to get anything out of the camper. Well, we checked in after their front desk had closed, picked up our key and headed to the cottage. We opened the door and almost died! There was NOTHING inside, just a set of bunks, a full bed, a space heater and a light. No bedding, no bathroom....nothing!! :earseek: I think if we would of expected to need to bring in everything from the camper (keep in mind, it was lowered and I needed to literally crawl through it looking for things!!), it wouldn't of been too bad. It had been a really long day and that was the last thing I needed!! If you look at KOA's website, they have photos and some more details about them.

We always do them on our trips and we love them. You need to bring a sleeping bag or something like it to sleep on but they are nice for us. It's almost like tent camping but with a roof over your head so you don't get rained on. And they have a cute little front porch that you can eat breakfast on!

Dax, go over to the Fort Wilderness Camping board. There is a thread open about this very subject. I've never stayed in one, but my parents and SILs have. I described the difference between the kabins and kottages over there.

And yes, we did stay at the Colonial Williamsburg KOA (in our trailer). It was very nice. Actually, there are two KOA's in Williamsburg that are right next to each other. I can't remember which one we stayed in except that it was the one whose pool was NOT heated. :earseek:
