Hi all! Leaving in 6 days with DH, DD (2.5yrs old), and DS (9 mos) (and I'm also 4 months pregnant). Just curious to know if anyone has ever brought their own strollers to the parks and had it stolen. I know this has happened to someone I spoke to once. I have a very good double stroller that I would just cry if anything happened to. I'm guessing that I wouldn't be allowed to lock my stroller since cast members move them from time to time. Thanks in advance for the input!!!

Have never had any problems although we go at off times. Good luck!

I wouldn't try locking it...

I have gone to WDW with several different strollers over the past 5 years -- from the inexpensive Graco (that everyone has) to a moderate Combi to an expensive Maclaren -- and have never had a problem.

I would tie a colorful ribbon or bandana, or something like that to the handle so you can identify it quickly as yours. That way, someone with a similar stroller won't mistake yours for theirs. Also, put your name & address information somewhere on the stroller.

Had our own umbrella stroller stolen from in front of the 50s Prime Time Diner several years ago. And it had a bandana on it and it in no way looked like one of the rental strollers.

We brought our own stroller (nothing special) in September. Too bad about bad experiences. IMO there are soooo many strollers, maybe someone just took the wrong one. Have fun.

We just went in October and fortunately did not have a problem with this. We had a twin Jeep stroller.

But one time we got out of a ride and when we went to the place in the designated area where we parked it, it was nowhere to be found. We learned that Disney employees shuffle them around and sometimes move them to another designated stroller area to keep everything neat.

So just check in other stroller areas if you don't see it where you left it, or ask one of the employees if they did some stroller shifting.

We have never had a problem in the past but it does make you a bit nervous. I am also planning on bring my nice peg double one this year and just praying nothing happens.

I had the same concerns before we left last year since I was bringing a brand-new Maclaren stroller.... we had no problems at all. I made sure I tied a bright ribbon or something on the handle just so I would be able to spot it right away when we came out of an attraction... GL to you!

It happens, rarely, but it happens. They won't allow you to lock them as the CMs move them around (I suspect at least some stolen strollers were moved by CMs and not relocated). An amazing number (but not all) show up in lost and found - I suspect unconsiderate desperate parents steal them to get to the front of the park and then leave them so they can justify that they haven't stolen them.

Its never happened to us in our 8 trips so far. We certainly have had a scare or two when our stroller was moved by a CM but never stolen.

I've heard that mostly they are taken by accident because the stroller looks like someone elses so I try and make mine look unique or different then the rest.

I've also heard it happens more at DTD because of it's location/free to get in but still I've never had mine stollen there either.

Just be sure and not leave valuables in your strollers!!

That makes a lot of sense crisi. For the people who's stroller was stollen, did you check lost and found, and contact cast memembers? Was Disney able to help you out at all so you had a replacement stroller for the rest of the trip?

We have been to WDW 7 times, all with high end strollers, some a peg pergo double and never had any problems. I don't tend to think or worry about it either. When I am at the local mall I do. I would more at DTD also.

As far as rental strollers being taken, how much of that happens around the train station? What is the offical policy on that. I know you can't take them on the train. Are you supost to take everything with you and leave the stroller and then pick up a new one when you get off (if you don't depart at the same place.) Never rented so I don't know.

Hey guys.

We are going in January and are taking our Mac. My sister in law is taking her full size for her son. So, we plan on using a bike chain and lock to lock the two strollers together. This way it would be hard for a thief to run off with a big old stroller and a mac. It would look kinda funny :rotfl: ... Or at least I hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

i would not worry about your mac being stolen...they are a dime a dozen in disney...i would worry more about someone mistaking yours for theirs since the newer model macs all look the same now. definately put something distinctive on it.

Our beloved 2004 Maclaren Twin Traveller was stolen from Disneyland just this past Labor Day Weekend (Day two of a four night stay at the park).

We reported it stolen at Guest Services, filling out tons of paperwork and checked everyday we were there to see if the stroller or its contents turned up somewhere in the park. We never got anything back. Thank goodness we didn't leave anything valuable in the baskets.

You know, we were lulled into a false sense of security in thinking that no one would be interested in stealing our stroller. We had been bringing our Macs and Peg Peregos to the park for years and not once did we ever have a problem. I know that only a small percentage get truly "stolen" and people will say don't worry about it ever happening to you. Well, I am part of that small percentage who did have their strolller taken and believe me, it's not a pleasant experience.

Someone posted on another thread (I don't know if it was this board or another Disney-themed board) that strollers at DLR are more likely to get stolen than at WDW, but until I'm given proof of this, I'm not inclined to believe it.

From now on, we will be bringing a lock to the park. I've learned my lesson.

Never had a problem at the parks but had a stroller stollen at the outlet mall back in June.

I am going sew a brightly colored large something or other to our stroller. That way it isn't as simple for a wrong doer to untie a bandana and most people will be able to see it is not theirs. Meybe I'll Make a nice little pocket to hold the maps as ours is a volo that does not have a pocket on top. :goodvibes

Nevr had one stolen but here's what I have done for our next trip.
1. I made an Iron on patch with disney charcters and lightly ironed it on to the canopies of each stroller (bringing 2 double umbrella strollers). They melt on pretty quickly and I used a transfer for dark tshirts. It looks soooo cute and orginal. vERY EASILY IDENTIFIALBE.

2. I put return address labels on the frames of the strollers and covered them with clear packaging tape so if it rained they would stay on.

3. Then on the handles of the strollers I put Fun disney curling ribbon and kinda a lot of it so it would take some time to remove it.

4, Wrote on the bottom of the seats with a sharpie with our name and address so if there was a question, I had my name permanently on it.

5. I also put a luggage tag with our last name, cell #'s dates of our trip and hotel just in case.

6. I try to use a locker and only leave only a bag with stuff that if stolen- would not end my world (ie. juice boxes, snacks, etc.)

If someone tries to take a stroller that is so obviously not thiers then they will get theirs back ten fold.

If I had to rent another stoller then so be it- I have saved so long that I would have to have the mindset to just rent another and bite it than be upset about it. Most things in life can be replaced so just be careful about marking it and don't leave anything of value on it and that way you will be oK.

Never had our stroller stolen, although I will admit it was a cheapy one, like $40, so I wouldn't have been devasted if it had been.

Would there be a problem with putting your address and dates of your trip on the stroller, though? They tell you not to do this for luggage because people will be able to see where you live and when you will be gone. I don't know if it is the same for the strollers in the parks.

A question was asked earlier about replacement strollers being available. We had a rental stroller stolen and were unable to get a replacement even though they are supposed to be available. We were told in several locations that they were all gone, so we had to carry our two chldren.

I have been to Disneyland 5 or 6 times with strollers (evenflow single and later with a graco double - so nothing fancy) and never had any trouble. I have not even had problems with CMs moving them (but I am pretty good about figuring out how they have them organized so I always leave them in an area where they are likely to stay).

My oldest DD (now 5) always seems to have an eye for other people's strollers. She likes to look at them and touch them. And what is funny is she is always going for the very expensive one. Kind of like she is looking to upgrade. We have home video of her where we are having to tell her to stop trying to climb into strollers that aren't hers.

I have always been surprised by the items folks will leave in there strollers. Several times I have been unloading my kids when a stroller near us starts ringing.

It is so sad that one of the previous posters got their's stollen at DL. I can't believe the nerve of some people. While I would not welcome the $$ loss of my stroller, the huge thing to me would be the walk back to the hotel with two overtired kids. Yuck.
