Anyone ever had items stolen from strollers?

People who are suprised that people leave a bag under their stroller must have forgotten how much crap you take with you when you have a young one. I am more concerned about holding her in line then a bag. If it gets taken..oh well. I can replace the stuff.

I have no doubt that you have a lot of stuff and I can see leaving diapers and baby wipes in the stroller. But people leave things like cameras, autograph books, toys, and other things that aren't easy to replace. If they don't care when they come back and it's gone that's one thing but to be upset, to complain, and to be surprised that it's gone is another.

A few years ago, our camera was stolen. I had left it hanging on the stroller when we went into the Tiki Room, and it was gone when we came out :sad2: It was bad enough to lose the camera, but I really regret the pictures! It was the "old-fashioned" kind, not a digital, so we only lost what was on the roll, but it was about 20 pictures.

Our diaper bag was still there - wasn't anything valuable in there anyway.

About 8 years ago we had our entire stroller stolen (not rearranged). Worst part wasn't the camera I had foolishly hidden in the diaper bag, but the (then) film in it from breakfast with Pooh & friends...something I couldn't replace. It also kind of sucked that we were out diapers/extra clothing, as it was stollen while my son was playing in the fountains.

We filed a police report...and got some $ on the insurance claim. The CM that filed the claim for us said it's really easy for a theives to just take the whole stroller and be in the parking lot before you know it's gone---they can sort through any bags that look enticing later.

Not so much surprised... Just really mad at yourself that you were distracted by the fun, had your hands full with the toddler and just didn't think at just the right moment! Actually more like frustrated, as Disney was really adamant the year it happened to us about not bringing strollers into stores, so you've got the purse, the kid, the other paraphanelia and you forget the camera in the diaper bag in the stroller (which you've been ordered by a COM to take outside)...then (after handing child off to grandpa ---so he can go play in the fountain) as you exit the store...it's all gone.

So glad we are passed the stroller phase.

I know it wasn't smart to leave our camera in the stroller - we just weren't thinking about it as we were getting on a ride. I don't think it's strange that we were upset it was stolen, though. I'm sure I'm incredibly naiive, but I like to think most people are not theives....

I also don't think anyone's complaining here, just trying to answer the OP's question.

Dear God, I would like to think that nobody would do such a thing but I am betting that it has happened.

I was thinking about this too the other day.

On our first day in MK in 2005 our refillable resort mug was stolen from the stroller basket. I had just bought it and filled it before we left the resort for the day. I was really ticked off...... but then I invisioned the thief getting violently ill from after drinking from the cup..... and I felt a little better. ;)

I'm always more concerned about leaving stuff in my son's wheelchair bag when we get on rides and I transfer him. I keep his medications and nebulizer in that bag and it's too heavy to carry on rides. We leave my little one's stroller parked outside and I'm never too concerned.
How low class of someone to do that.

You know, that suggestion has been in the Unofficial Guide for at least fifteen years. I don't think too many people (bent on stealing a stroller or its contents, or not) would believe after this long that some other Guest would genuinely walk around all day with a poopy diaper in a clear plastic bag fastened to the stroller handle.

:rotfl:

I agree.

I can't answer for WDW yet, but if DS is still using a stroller on occasion when we do visit WDW there is no chance at all that we'll leave anything in it.

We had a brand new pirate hat stolen from his stroller at DLR, and it was under an old sweatshirt and Duke hat in the bottom basket. Even though a CM "lead" ended up replacing it for him (he was telling the story to the CMs setting up for fireworks in front of IASW, they felt sad for him and got a lead), it still bothers us to no end.

And then in May, DS got a "build your own" lightsaber, and at some point between Princess Fantasy Faire and ToonTown, he must have put it down or given it to use to hold, and whoever had it forgot it...it was GONE. No one ever turned it in, so someone out there got a free Luke lightsaber, leaving a devastated 4 year old (it was a b'day present) and an upset set of parents.

I won't leave *anything* in a stroller now. When we go to DLR with a baby in the future we'll rent a locker.

Are there lockers at WDW?

We had palmickey stolen. We were dividing to conquer, and they thought we had the little bugger, and we thought they did. I went back to check 4 minutes later, and he was already gone.

We've never had anything stolen out of a stroller. But the most I leave in there is a change of clothing for each child (just in case, learned that lesson the hard way), ponchos and possibly light jackets (depending on the time of year). I consider those things easily replaceable. My camera does not leave my body. If I plan to ride things on which I cannot take my camera, then I leave it in the safe for that time in the parks.

One time we left our camera right on top of the stroller-in a hurry, not really paying attn...we were VERY lucky. We've never had anything stolen and we constantly leave our backpacks, mugs thrown in the strollers.

We've never had anything taken out our strollers but the only thing we leave behind is a bag with diapers, wipes, change of clothes and a few snacks. The important things go with us. My camera is always hanging around my neck or in my fanny pack, the camera isn't important but the pictures on it are worth all the money in the world to me.

Oh, I wasn't talking about you specifically or anyone else in this thread for that matter. I was talking about people who purposely leave stuff in their strollers and come back and *gasp* it's missing. Maybe I'm incredibly untrusting but if I did that I would almost assume it wouldn't be there when I got back.

WHAT??? you can't bring the strollers into the stores??? OMG! I have the most hyper 2 year old who only knows one speed.....RUN!!! There is no way I can shop and hold his hand!! The only time he is partially still is when he is strapped down in his stroller and heaven help me the day he can undo the seatbelt across his lap!!!!

Yes, you can bring strollers into the stores. Just be careful and considerate of blocking the aisles and merchandise and mindful of your toddler's hands that reach out to grab everything.

While my toddler naps in the stroller, I love to walk through the air-conditioned stores and shop in peace!! :lmao:

Our whole stroller was stolen. It was evening magic hours and practically deserted, the park was closing up, we looked everywhere and it was gone. We checked all the parking areas and there were only a few disney rentals left. Ours was gone. We got another one and covered it with stickers and it was never touched after that.

Not a huge loss, but I had a soda in the stroller last year at DLR and it was taken. I hoped the person who took it got sick also! Why would you take a used drink?-And there is no way they thought the stroller was their own!

:rotfl2: I was in sales for a long time and customers would sit at my desk and sign papers. We used to laugh at how many people would take a drink out of our personal cups while they sat there. I've taken a drink out of a water bottle set it down and had a person sitting across from me pick and up and take a drink, some people just don't care.
