Yesterday, I was able to get a package of Bounty paper towels from Costco, and last week I purchased a box of 24 free-range eggs from Sams Club. So far, I'm not seeing any new shortages around here.
Bathroom cleaner has been mostly miss in my area too with respects to my local Walmart. We could get toilet bowl bleach cleaner but regular Scrubbing Bubbles type thing (which is what I'm more looking for) was scarcer. My husband was able to do a Walmart pickup for it but the only thing they had (which was last week when we bought it) was Scrub Free with oxi clean brand.I need bathroom cleaner. I need normal things. I don't need things to hoard, I just need a single bathroom cleaner. Haven't had any since springtime.
I live in a trailer and I don't have a freezer, so I couldn't hoard things if I wanted. All I want to do is buy normal quantities.
You apparently expect way too much out of life. Time to ratchet those expectations down.I need bathroom cleaner. I need normal things. I don't need things to hoard, I just need a single bathroom cleaner. Haven't had any since springtime.

Try Ebay. The only thing I continue to find hard to get are medical exam gloves for my dad's caregivers. I've been able to order them from Amazon, as a monthly subscription but I was notified that it was unavailable this month. I can't find them at Walmart or Target, I guess I need to do an online search. I can get them from DH's office (he's a dentist) if necessary, but I dislike doing that.
Can you use the food grade ones or do they have to be medical grade? Our Costco has the food grade ones, albeit not the double packages they used to have. The only thing I continue to find hard to get are medical exam gloves for my dad's caregivers. When these 'fears' of shortages start circulating and sending people on a hoarding spree, sure wish the stores would limit items in advance that some people deem necessary to hoard - toilet paper anyone?? Then, people that needed it could find it.
They are. Many have limits already in place. When these 'fears' of shortages start circulating and sending people on a hoarding spree, sure wish the stores would limit items in advance that some people deem necessary to hoard - toilet paper anyone?? Then, people that needed it could find it.
Canadian Bacon is getting next to impossible to find. Albertsons and Winco have both been a strike out on that one. Other than that I am basically set for food items that I am wanting right now. Just put half a beef in the freezer a couple of weeks ago and have a hog on order for the next time a local Hutterite Colony does a butchering. We will have to process it but being from generations of farmers and ranching on both sides of the family we have the set up to do so for our own use. Should possibly be processing some chickens and turkeys in another few weeks as well so other than buying a few things of produce items like lettuce mixes and occasionally if we want some fish we are basically set.
Freezers larger than 7 cubic feet are almost impossible to find and when you do find one you better get it right then and there. Inlaws ended up going to a smaller freezer when their's died on them back in August. They are having to use an upright that one of my brother in laws had and wasn't using for the overflow. My parents went to plug in the backup chest freezer that they got in the mid to late 70s and it had finally died on them. Luckily they are still doing ok on space at least until we get the hogs and they could find enough room between the main chest freezer (main as it is in the ulility/laundry room which is a good size room even with my dad having put in a walk in pantry plus the washer and dryer along with a larger chest freezer, sink deep enough to fill 5 gallon buckets when necessary and the don't you dare go across the house and track anything I need to go now emergency toilet behind a wall there is still plenty of room for multiple people to be in there and move around without being on top of one another.
My mom was finally able to find a source to get a manual defrost chest freezer that is around 15 cubic feet in size so she ordered one for my parents house and one for my house. We are paying my parents for ours on an interest free loan. This gurantees that we will have enough room to put one of the hogs in our freezer as well as another one if the lead on the source for those from another area work out. Who knows I might actually be able to do some freezing of vegetables next year if we have a successful garden. Grasshoppers just about did my entire garden in this past year so what we did get we mainly ate as we got it. I was able to get some dill dehydrated for dill weed and dill seeds.
My dad has things set up that between the hot tub room turned plant start room and the raised bed that has the framework on it to turn it into a greenhouse we can start to grow at least some potatoes, carrotts, and some smaller row crops including green beans, peas, and onions if things get to the point that we are finding drastic shortages in our area. He even has things set up to bring some of the strawberry planters in and use hot lights so we can have those in the winter for an occasional treat. No talk about getting a cow or some chickens. As far as chickens are concerned we can get more than enough eggs from a neighbor and good friend along with chicken as well as turkey for eating. I am sure if it gets to the point that we can't get milk one can be located and purchased easily enough that we could hand milk.
I am still working on my stock of paper towels from all the coupons I got in 2019 in a contest at a local grocery store. DH figures we might need to restock sometime in late 2021 to early 2022 at our normal rate of usage. I have usually been able to find and keep at least one larger package of toilet paper or at least half a one ahead which gives us between 12-18 rolls in case it would come down to rationing due to not being able to get any. While we have our first choice there are other brands that we can use with being on a septic system that we could switch over to in a pinch so we are set there.
Cleaning supplies thanks to having been on a membership program for years that you must order so many points of products each month I have a good stock of at least the concentrate as well as formulas. I have plenty of old t-shirts and socks turned into cleaning rags that when done can just go right in the laundry to be cleaned.
We honestly only really use paper towels for draining some food items such as homemade potato chips and french fries as well as for our microwave bacon cooking rack. When they ones on the lower part get saturated beyond use those get tossed and the ones on the top that don't get as much of the greese get moved to the bottom and new ones go to the top. The other time we use paper towels is for the occasional cat hairball messes which since we brush all our cats on a regular basis. OK one of them doesn't care too much for it unless DH brushes her and than she is oh thank you I am in kitty 7th heaven here. We brush them to keep the fur from flying and bothering my allergies. By we I mean my teenage daughter and DH do most of the brushing. One advantage to brushing them all the time is they are not getting as much hair when they bathe themselves and way less hairballs so all you cat owners out there go and get a good brush-highly recommend one that has a retractable option because they are so easy to clean-and start regular brushings especially if you are dealing with hairballs.
