Anyone else underwhelmed by Frozen Ever After?

You're probably bitter like me and miss the Norway ride and the nostalgia.

I feel the same way about the new TT in Epcot. I miss the old 'crash test dummy' theming because it reminds me of my childhood. Not a fan of the Tron theme.

I can't stop picturing your parents as really bad drivers now.

Do you all know Frozen...How It Should Have Ended?

I'm not sure what a lot of people WERE expecting? Since it was basically a re-skin of Maelstrom (which was a simple, short dark ride (in a boat)) .. I was expecting the same thing. Like the new Little Mermaid ride: Fun once through for the adults and fun for the LITTLE kids tons of times. The ride (like many at WDW) are for kids under 10.

I do like how they try and tell a "new" story as opposed to just re-hashing the movie like Little Mermaid and Peter Pan does. Nothing wrong with that, but I think they made the right choice here.

I don't know if we'll ever get a big dark ride on the scale of Haunted Mansion or Pirates again .. .(at least in the parks in the States).

I haven't been on the new frozen ride but I'm sure it has to be better than the old rendition that was there before. Heck, no one would ever watch the video after the ride.

Our family has ridden Maelstrom every trip, and....gasp....watched the video afterward each time. There were always plenty of people viewing it along with us, so don't understand where the "no one would ever watch" comes from. That being said, loved Maelstrom for what it was; sadly disappointed in the change.

Myeh... I went in with realistic expectations and got what I thought I would, a Frozen theme dark, boat ride. I agree... underwhelming.

For me it's "been there, done that" or "once is definitely enough" lol

Was down there end of June. Didn't ride it because I wasn't trading my Soarin' FP for an overlay of another ride. If it had been a tier 2 FP I would have given it a shot.

Whether or not it's a great ride, I just don't like that it's a 'movie' ride in the World Showcase. That was never the intent of that area and it's just to commercial an approach for me. That being said, I'm sure little girls will love it no matter what and that's good.

I think World Showcase could actually be livened up with "Disney-fying" it and adding more attractions to that long boring walk around the lake.

In the 80s .. the concept of "walking around the world" and seeing/tasting/shopping different cultures was pretty unique.

The world is a much smaller place now with travel being easier, local restaurants bring more exotic tastes to your hometown and the internet/TV able to "see" a country's culture much easier than outdated tourist videos can.

Take each country and have turn it into a Disney attraction:
France - Ratatouille
GB - Mary Poppins
China - Mulan
Japan - Big Hero 6

etc. etc.

Each of those movies "embrace" the culture that inspired them, so they still will serve that purpose, but have a fun attraction to go with it in a park that desperately needs attractions.

To me, this is a much better idea than throwing Guardians of the Galaxy in FW.

True, but I don't mind that either.

Unlike when Epcot was created with this "World's Fair" theme, Disney has a LOT more intellectual property now to base a theme park around. They need to do something with Future World. They just aren't able to keep up with "future" technology. There is more technological advances in your smart phone than Future World.

We enjoyed it! Left there smiling. The snowgies were so cute. The ride photo was a nice touch, but very dark.

It did go from the Frozen movie into the Frozen short.

One time when I rode it during my trip, the first Olaf had BOTH eyes in his left eye socket!lol:)

I felt bad for all the little kids-had to be "traumatizing" for them!

I'm sure my point of view will be wildly unpopular, but I'm going to voice it anyway.

We got back LATE Wednesday night after a weeklong stay. We had a FP for Frozen. We were first on line when it broke down, so we were given return FPs. We went back a few mornings later and got right on.

In my opinion, it was... ehh. Yes, it was very cool that they were able to get Olaf to move.

But beyond that, it was scenes from the movie. Well done scenes, but nothing much more.

Somehow with all the hoopla, I was expecting more. Something "Ever After", something about Summer, something that went beyond where the movie went.

I'm glad I saw it. But if I had gotten a second set of FPs, I would have traded them in for yet another viewing of Soarin'.

Again, probably a wildly unpopular point of view. But I wouldn't wait on an incredibly long line in the summer heat for this particular attraction, not when there are Soarin' and Test Track in the same park.

Then again, my youngest child is 13. I'm sure that those with young daughters have a very different point of view.

It wasn't awful. It was a perfectly nice little ride. But not one of my "must sees." I liked the old Norway ride, and probably prefer it to Frozen Ever After.

I haven't done it yet, but I can tell you I won't be underwhelmed because I don't have high expectations. I think Maelstrom was overrated and I think too many people hype too many things up at Disney and NEED to do them simply because they are popular.

Yeah, that's how I'm going into new offerings as well. FEA was cute but I wouldn't do it again unless the wait was less than 20 minutes. I would not use a fp for it if I can get one for Soarin. It's pretty much the same as the Little Mermaid ride at MK.

I'm not sure you can say underwhelming if you got just what you thought the ride w ould be. :rolleyes1

What are people's expectations when they ride Pan, Pooh, Little Mermaid, ect.?

I was blown away by Diagon Alley. :scared1: Oh wait, that was Universal.

I'll keep an open mind and hope for the best for Pandora and Star Wars Land.

Radiator Springs! Oops. Still not the right park, but it shows that someone at Disney somewhere can make amazing things happen. Now we just need to import that vision to WDW

I haven't been to WDW since it opened, but my kids and I watched a couple videos of the ride. My 9yo daughter's comment was, "That's it?" She definitely didn't think it was worth the wait. I have a 4yo daughter who loves Frozen and 5yo son who likes Olaf, so we'll use FP+ for one ride on our next visit if the lines are still crazy. The older kids and I would be fine skipping it.
