We're going in two weeks and I can't take it anymore. We are surprising our three dd's. ages 2, 5, and 7. I want to tell them so badly. This is not an easy secret to keep. I just keep telling myself that it will be worth it in the end, when they get up that morning and the two older ones think they're going to school as usual but we tell them we're going to WDW. Oh the look on their faces will be priceless! I can't stand the wait! Is anyone else in the same situation?

We're leaving Sunday and have not told the kids yet. They know we are travelling, but they don't know the destination. We were originally scheduled for WDW but cancelled because a banquet popped up the day we were to leave and finances became a bit sketchy. We then decided on a 4 day trip to either DC or NYC. However, at the last minute, WDW became a reality again and we'll be driving straight from the banquet. Kids won't know until we hit the Florida Welcome Center, I assume. Unless, of course, the wife blabs...:chat:

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!!!!
We are giving our trip to the kids for Christmas. I have had it booked for over a year and done so much planning. I know I've waited this long but I just don't think I can wait another 6 weeks!! I guess it will make Christmas that much more special but I so want them to share in my excitement!!

Dh planned a surprise trip for us and the kids and could not take the pressure any longer. He caved and told me and now I am trying my hardest not to tell the kids. Oh, the pressure!!!!

I totally know what you are talking about...I am suprising DH with this trip...goin solo this time...no kids....he doesn't have a clue and I feel like I am going to BURST.....I can't wait to see the look on his face as we head to the airport....:D

We planned our Christmas trip to Orlando to visit my parents like we do every year... but a week ago I casually called to check if they had any AP rates for Christmas at WL and they did! So I booked but haven't told my DD7... We will stay with my parents 12/23 & 12/24 and then check in on 12/25 for 3 nights... She doesn't suspect a thing and I've almost let it slip a few times... it's very hard to keep the excitement bottled up and not being able to share!

I see I'm in good company with other devious parents. I've actually got 2 secrets going. The first is our trip to Disney. DS14 and DD8 don't know about it yet. My plan right now is to tell them that we are flying to Pennsylvania for the weekend to get their sister from college. That way it will be a surprise right up until we check in at the airline. DH and the kids also won't know that oldest DD is going to be able to join us. She just got her final exam schedule and I can fly her in the day after we arrive. I'm arranging for a car service to bring her from the airport to the resort, so I can sneak her right in.

My second surprise is for DH. He thinks we have a 3 night Disney cruise reserved in January, but I changed it to a special 4 night sailing of the Disney Magic. That secret has almost slipped out of my mouth on a number of occasions.

Not a comment on your post, but I'm just a little surprised (in a good way) to see an eLynah plug in somebody's signature on this board.

Me! We leave in 2 weeks, and I haven't told our 5 kids (DS 15, DS 13, DD 11, DD 8, DS 6). They think we are going in February. I was able to change our tickets and go the first 2 weeks in December. I've got so much stuff planned, too, like MVMCP, Fantasmic Dinner Package, Candlelight Dinner Package, Magical Fireworks tour...I hope it is a lot of fun. We are going to stay in a hotel here the weekend before we leave for my daughters' ballet performances, and I'm thinking of telling them on the last night there. That gives them a couple of days to let it sink in. I've had such a hard time letting others in on the secret...basketball coaches, Boy Scout leaders, dance teacher....etc. I hope no one squeals early...! :D

We leave Dec. 17th and haven't told the kids yet and don't plan to until that day! We have talked with them about going in the future - we cancelled a trip that we were going to take this past summer so they know that we eventually want to reschedule it. After seeing Disney on Ice this past week - my youngest promised to go on Splash Mountain the next time we go. I told him that would be great and when he thought we should go again. He said, "oh, how about a couple days before Christmas!" I about fell over! I think somehow they sense it.

Waiting, Waiting!

The trip is our big gift to the kids for Christmas. We were supposed to go in October but canceled. We told them we'd go in May next year instead. They have no idea we are going in January!

They're getting APs in their stockings. I won't let on that they have one more present til Christmas morning is winding down. I'm making a note that says "Good things come to those who wait....and Mickey says that you've waited long enough." Inside the box I'm going to put some helium balloons, the WDW promotional stuff, our trip itinerary, our plane ticket reservation info and a construction paper chain with only 17 links on it.

Can't wait!

We're taking our children (18,14,12,9) over the Christmas holidays. All we have told them is that they are only getting "1"
gift from Santa this year- "1" gift they have to share!

I bought a My Pal Mickey. I'll put him in a huge fridge box and that
is what they will open Christmas morning. They will then be told
to go pack as we're leaving in the morning.

We are going in January and were planning to tell our girls on Christmas. My DW just said we should wait until later. Maybe we will do what we did two years ago, just wake them up the morninng we leave and tell them we're going to Disney!

Hey Ecdubfan - Go Big Red!

We were at a fundraiser this past weekend, and a family there has a surprise Thanksgiving trip the kids don't know about. You could tell they were about to explode - they were telling all of us about the plans!

No kids, but I've certainly surprised other people with things, so I can only imagine how excited you must be! Be strong, don't tell! :) And have a GREAT TIME!

I am about to explode! This is our first family vacation ever and they have no clue. We are telling them on Thanksgiving that we are going in Jan to celebrate our DD8 and DS5 b-day's. Our DD1 won't really know what the heck is going on. We are doing something similar to bizeemom4. The kids will receive a package on our front step with a letter from the big cheese himself only it will be signed "Guess Who". When they open the box there will be helium balloons, WDW for kids by kids guide, t-shirts, disney dollars, a countdown, and anything else I can think of from now until next week. Oh I can't wait!!!! We are also surprising them with our PS's on the mornings of them while we are on vacation. Like an invitation from Cindy for CRT and from Mickey for Chef Mickey's. Good luck everyone. So glad I can come here and talk about WDW as much as I want and not have to see DH eyes roll at me.

Have a Disney Day!!::MickeyMo

We're headed down 12/12 as a surprise for DD6 and DD8. To add to the surprise, DD6's best friend's family is going to be there the same dates as us, staying at WL too, going to MVMCP the same night and eating at LTT also.

We're going to just let the girls figure it out on the way down. They think we're going to VA so I'm wondering how long it's going to take them to figure out we're headed South instead of North!

Also, I know they'll sleep part of the way down (toward the end of the trip) so I have a "surprise" planned for them when they wake up. It will have just "magically" appeared while they were asleep. It's going to be a box with a card from Mickey, a Disney sweatshirt, and a few trinkets to tide them over.

We just can't wait!!

My parents are taking my husband & I and 3 kids (10,6,2) as a surprise for the day after Christmas. My husband's winter meeting just happened to be in Orlando. We're going to try and keep the secret until final boarding call and we herd everyone onto the plane. I can't wait. It's been so hard, but at least I know have somewhere to talk about it!!!!! :earseek:

We leave in 3 weeks, it's still a secret ;):...I've been sooooo tempted to just tell them, and let them be as excited as us! But, we really, really want to surprise them.
:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: ::yes:: :wave2: ::yes:: :wave2

Thanks fellow Dis'ers for all your knowledge on everything disney. We've been able to afford to go more often and stay in deluxe hotels, we know the ins and outs of EMH, PS's and fastpass and we always move to the left!
Disney has always been and will always be a very special place for me. I can proudly say that I've created another generation of disney fanatics!
